CHAPTER 8: GOOD ENOUGH.

The following morning,I awoke to the chink of china rattling and sat up to be served breakfast in bed on a tray complete with a linen napkin and a pretty flower in a bud vase.

'So,this was what it's like to be spoiled'I thought, ruefully, pushing my wild tumble of black curls out of my eyes as the smiling old lady chattering in broken English opened the curtains and threw open the doors onto the balcony, inviting fresh air and sunshine.

Staring at the pancakes,I discovered that I was ravenous.

I didn't have the appetite to eat anything the previous day.

All I just wanted was to get through that day.

"Mr O'Connell left already.He said he would be time to have dinner with you"

I wish he would just give me space so I don't have to see him at all.

But I know I would be asking for too much if I make that request.
