Werewolves

Chapter 3: Werewolves

WHITE FURR, PAW. My eyes immediately widen and jump off. I stood but eventually I fell back. My hands, it was not a hand anymore. 'Bloody Mary!' I had gone panicked more when I couldn't speak, I could only do it inside my head. I turned to my body, I had a tail, white thick fur. 'This can't be happening!'

I started running, I head to the nearest lake where I had gone before. I looked at myself, my eyes were blue and I have a dog's face. I turned my head to the left when I heard footsteps, I hurriedly swam into the lake and hide. Wolves had a great sense of smell...I too.

No way!

I saw them, their brown and black fur fading into the dark. I swam back and went out of the water. 'This dream is giving me a headache, this seemed too realistic.' I started walking back home and found my open window, I jump back in and dive into my bed again.

Tasio was wolf obsessed, he'd never miss the opportunity to kill even a wolf a while ago. The loud howl must wake him up but didn't, this must be a dream.

GREAT MORNING GREET me with a loud thud on my door. I'm one hundred percent sure that it was his newly made cane, he might break his fist if he would knock that loud. I sat up and saw myself naked. My mattress was damp as well as my blanket. What if it did happen? Was it a dream or not?

Of course, it was a dream!

I swiftly moved and set those goosebumps aside. I tied my hair into a bond but a few strands went on my face, it was blue. I ran to the bathroom and checked my hair, it was just a few strands, I could easily cover them up, why would my hair turn blue? I never dyed my hair and never in my wildest dream did I think of dying my hair.

I went out and cooked for breakfast, I knew that he was mad. I found him earlier sitting on his favorite chair by the window. I carefully put the pot into the fire.

"I am getting old," my hand stopped midway and glance at him.

"Who else didn't know?" I never miss that tight smile on his lips. I got my rhetorical tongue from him. He might feel like he was talking to himself.

"I want to visit my old house," I couldn't find the right word to reply. I only knew that he was dead serious. "I was thirty when I got here, I choose to live in this jungle, where no one thinks someone lives in here..." he drank his organic tea, he made it himself using those herbs around. "I could still clearly remember why I went here. My wife was stolen, a man who can transform into a wolf stole my wife." I saw his grip on his cane tighten.

While memories came rushing into my head, myself turning into a wolf. Something cold as ice wrapped at the back of my neck, while my ears were burning. I wiped all my what if, and turned to him.

"Is that a sign of aging?" I joked but he didn't move. He slowly turned to me and I met his lonely eyes.

"I hope so, you are too young for this but it is true. Werewolves are true, back when I still live with my wife, we were happy. We were planning to have kids, travel, and spent weekends with the family but all of it went into ash. She met this guy, she couldn't look into my eyes straight as she used to. I tried everything I could to win her back but this man was according to her, he was her mate.

But of course, I didn't believe in that myth. Until one night, I saw her sneaking out." He laughs while looking at his teacup. "I locked her up that time, I was guarding against the ground floor of our house but she jump from her window. I was broken and ran out instantly thinking she was dead but I found her in the arms of a man. He put her down and he... turns into a wolf." He turned to me again. I lost every word, I only stared at him.

"You don't believe me, are you?" He took a sip of his tea again. "I too, I couldn't bring myself to believe in that myth but I saw what I saw. I had gone some research, read a different article, search for genuine information." His unstable breath made me worried about him. Now I understand his hatred of any lupus creature.

"I went here to find my wife, instead I found troops of wolves around here and learned how to hunt them down. I know they hate silver, so I use silver in every part of my house. I created wolfsbane and arrows lace with it. Bullets coated with silver. My first every kill was an Alpha, I killed him when he was wandering around, a perfect shot using my personalized gun." He pointed to the wolf fur where he place his pot of flowers.

"What are they?" I bravely asked.

"They are devils, they mercilessly killed innocent humans, even poor animals. There are differences between werewolves and wolves. Werewolves were the highest or superior among all. They can be human or wolf while wolves are just wolves who serve the werewolves. They are only servants and the lowest kind." He gladly explains, considering the fact that I am not his biological daughter. I might be one of those werewolves.

"What is alpha?"

"The leader of werewolves, they respect them like a king. Alpha usually have a beta their second command and a gamma their third command and delta are the warrior that leads their wolves and omega, their server. Low as the wolves yet they are werewolves, the trash of the group." I serve his breakfast as well as mine. He walked towards me and sat across from me.

"I never killed a werewolf, I have been trying to find one but I failed. All I wish before my last breath is that I could finally avenge my broken heart and my supposedly family." Then he started eating, while I wasn't able to swallow my food and I constantly drank water.

"Can you tell me something about them?"

"They move fast, run fast, and they have a sensitive sense of smell as wolves. They have a so-called mate the destined partner for a werewolf by the moon goddess. They are somewhat a cult, moon devotee." Last night, I experienced being...no. That was insane.

"They admire the moon, you mean?"

"Maybe," and I drank his water and got up. I went straight to my room. I looked at my hands, was it true? I couldn't bring myself to believe this but I might. The sudden change means more than I allow myself to believe. I may be one of them but I couldn't. Tasio would hate me. He was my only family. His angry face lingered in my head. I hope I was only dreaming last night.

As the sun turned orange, the night was fast approaching, I'm afraid that dream, or if it was true to happen again. I didn't know what I should do. Nervousness was deafening my thoughts, refraining me to act cool and normal.

"You seem unstable?" He spoke and I quickly turned to him, he was wiping his arrow, and its shiny tip was more than visible. I unconsciously to a huge gulp and got a glass of water.

"I was never better," I answered to ease the feeling inside me, I didn't what was going into my head, I couldn't sit still and act like nothing was going on, when in fact, what happened last night was a big mess. I feel like the time was running fast than it should be.

I watched him go to his room, and I too. The moon was still out there full of grace and lovely. I sat on my bed and clasp my hands together. There was the feeling again, the feeling of craving to go out. Freedom.

When I know, Tasio never prohibits me to do anything I want, why would I seek freedom? It was creeping me the hell out. I did all I could not turn to the window. Yet I did, my feet were aching to run, should I go. At this moment, I am one hundred percent sure that everything was real and I have nothing to deny it.

I carefully opened the door and stealthily jump out. I started running and I felt like bending down until I touch the ground, everything went clearer than my normal sight and I already knew that I transform into a wolf again.

Wrong and afraid of what it might cause me, but I love the feeling while I was running. The cool breeze of the air and how I feel the ground, the night was just beautiful and fine. I heard those loud howls again, I stopped when I realize that I was much closer to them, should I show up and meet them? I couldn't do it still. I started running back home, but then I smelled something.

A smell of vanilla mixed with citrus. t

The pleasant smell was addicting, I slow down and eventually stopped. I started walking to follow the smell. Until I heard a movement too, it was running in my direction so I hurriedly hid behind the trunk of the nearest tree.

I followed its steps and I heard it stop just next to the tree I was hiding. A growl tensed my whole body if I run. It would follow me. The smell went stronger, and I heard it take another step which made me step closer to the trunk. I was terrified watching the side where it was going, my breath hitched as I saw its nose. Until I saw its eye, it electric yellow and gold-like eye. It seemed to be enchanting, it walked slowly until I got a full view of its body. It was a towering wolf, taller than I and it was gorgeous.
