It was a warm summer afternoon and a day filled with meetings with different clients who had thrown in their proposals for tenders at the pristine VW office located on the tenth floor in the upmarket building in downtown Baltimore, billionaire businessman Eric Logan, decided to have lunch at his favorite restaurant just around the corner of his office building. While he was contemplating taking a walk just to let in the summer air and give him enough time to sift through his mind and reminisce on the turmoils of his now-ended marriage with his ex-wife, Rebecca. As the morning went by, Eric quickly wrapped up his work and drove downtown to the Bricks restaurant with the hopes that he would find Sandra. As he walked in through the door he quickly spotted her. Thank goodness he breathed under his breath as he beamed a smile at her. Sandra smiled back remembering him from yesterday. Eric finished taking a shower and was clad in a blue pair of jeans and a yellow gold neck t-shirt. He loved perfumes and had a section of his wardrobe for that. He walked out of his apartment engaged in a short conversation with the doorman and proceeded to pick up Sandra. He was a few minutes early but he did not want to keep her waiting. As she got out of the dance class all sweaty, Eric proceeded to open the passenger side of the car and quickly slide in. She was not used to receiving such gestures from a man. They parked in front of the restaurant where the chauffeur took the keys from Eric to park the car in the bay. Sandra noticed that this restaurant was different. It oozed an ambiance that silently spoke of the well-to-do class. She walked hand in hand with Eric as they entered the restaurant. The light was dim, and she could hear the soft background music playing. They were ushered to their table by a middle-aged man who smiled as he handed them their drink menu. As they settled in, she noticed there was champagne on the table which was opened within a short while. He raised his glass as Sandra asked him. What are we toasting to? And he replied, "to more beautiful times ahead." She smiled as she raised her glass and there were clicks in unison. They ordered their meals and waited, but Sandra noticed that Eric was a bit distracted tonight and wore a look she had never seen before.
