Chapter 20

I'm sitting outside, leaning my back against the beautiful fountain, twirling a delicate white flower between my fingers, and being overwhelmed with emotions.

First, about everything my mother said to me. Was any of that true? I tried to rack my memories around for a good five minutes, trying to remember if my father ever acted the way she had suggested, but I was so young. It's all hazy.

Second, with what I had just allowed to happen inside the living room with Zane. I allowed myself to fall apart on his fingers, and I demanded he finish what he had started. I knew he was just messing with me and was only seeking to make me even more frustrated than I already was.

I just needed to forget what I had heard, only if it was for a few minutes. I needed an outlet for the pain, and Zane provided me with it.
