Mag-log inISABELLA’S POV
Immediately these words leave his mouth.
Something inside me snaps.
I stare at him, the residual shock of the last hour still buzzing under my skin. The soft voices of the twins in the room down the hall drift faintly through the partially open door. That sound is the only thing keeping me from completely losing my shit.
“You don’t get to decide that,” I say, my voice shaking with fury. “You don’t get to take my children from their school like some kind of .... and then announce that we’re staying under your roof.”
Ethan stands near the large windows, with his sleeves rolled up, and his expression controlled. Well too controlled.
“I have every right. They’re mine. I ran a test and it was confirmed.”
“That doesn’t give you the right to ambush me.” I take a step closer to him, my hands clenched. “You didn’t call me. You didn’t ask me. You just sent people to watch my house, and grab the kids DNA without my knowledge, and then you walked into their school and pulled them. Just because you could do it. Do you have any idea what that felt like? Getting a message that my children were gone?”
His tightens his jaw, but doesn’t speak.
“You terrified me,” I continue, the words tumbling out sharper now. “I drove here thinking the worst. And now you stand there and tell me neither of us is leaving? Who do you think you are?”
“Their father,” he answers.
“A father they just met today.” My voice rises. “They don’t know you. You’re a stranger who took them from the only parent they’ve ever known. And instead of handling this like an adult, you’re trying to lock us down in your penthouse like we’re some property.”
Something flickers across his face. But I keep pushing harder.
“You used your money and your influence to go behind my back. You treated this like a business acquisition. Get the proof, take the assets, secure the location. Is that how you see them? As assets?”
“That’s enough.”
“No, it’s not.” I move closer, refusing to let him shut this down. “You don’t get to rewrite everything in one afternoon. You don’t get to scare me, take my children, and then calmly inform me that we’re staying. I am their mother. I have raised them every single day of their lives. You don’t get to erase that by issuing orders.”
Liam’s voice can be heard faintly from the guest room, asking Lila something. The sound steadies me and fuels me at the same time.
“I’m taking them home,” I say.
Immediately turning towards the hallway.
Ethan moves faster than I expect steping into my path, and blocking the way.
“You’re not leaving with them tonight.”
“Get out of my way.”
“No.”
I try to push past him but he catches my wrist. I yank my hands free and shove at his chest with both hands. He barely moves and my frustration and fear tangle in my chest so fast until I can hardly breathe. I hit his chest again and again, each one harder than the former.
“Let me go. You don’t get to keep us here.”
He grabs both of my wrists, firm enough to stop me. Looking at his face, he is no longer calm, his control is cracking.
“Stop fighting me.”
“Then stop treating me like I have no say.” My voice breaks with anger. “You took them without warning. You made decisions that affect their entire world without even speaking to me first. And now you’re trying to force me to stay under your roof because it suits you. This is not agremment. This is control.”
The words affected him. I see it in the way his grip tightens for a second before loosening slightly. His breathing has changed. The cold authority he walked in with is starting to fracture under the weight of what I’m saying. Good I need to weaken so I can run away with my kids.
I twist hard and manage to pull one wrist free. I turn toward the guest room again, determined to get my children and walk out.
That is when he loses the last of his restraint.
ETHAN’S POV
She will not stop.
Every word she throws at me hits harder than I expected. The accusation that I treated the children like assets. The reminder that they don’t know me. The raw fear she described when she got my message. I want to shut it down, to reassert control, but her fury is relentless and justified in ways I don’t want to admit.
When she turns toward the hallway again, something in me reacts on pure instinct.
I close the distance, catch her around the waist, and lift her off the ground before she can reach the guest room door. She immediately begins to fights harder, twisting, and pushing at my shoulders, demanding to be put down. Her voice is sharp and furious, but she is careful not to shout loud enough to truly frighten the children.
“Put me down. Ethan, put me down right now.”
I carry her down the opposite hallway towards the primary bedroom. She struggles the entire way, landing several solid hits against my shoulders and chest. I take them without comment. The moment we are inside the room, I set her down and step back just far enough to pull the door shut. I turn the lock from the inside, then remove the key.
She stares at me, her chest heaving.
“You cannot be serious.”
“I am.” My own breathing is uneven. “You’re not taking them out of this house tonight. And you’re not leaving either. Not while you’re this angry and not while we have no agreement.”
“You locked me in.” Her voice is pure disbelief and rage. “You actually locked me in a room.”
“I need you to calm down before you go back out there.”
“Don’t you dare tell me to calm down.” She takes a step toward me, her eyes blazing. “You started this when you took them from school. You escalated it when you decided we were both staying. And now you’ve locked me in a bedroom like a prisoner. Open the door.”
“No.”
We stand on opposite sides of the room, the air thick with everything that has exploded between us.
From down the hall, Lila’s small voice calls out for her mother. The sound cuts through the tension like a blade.
Isabella’s face tightens with fresh pain and fury.
“You’re scaring them,” she says, quieter now but no less fierce. “They can feel this. Let me out.”
ISABELLA’S POVMy bilogical clock wakes me up before the twins as usual. And for a moment, the unfamiliar ceiling confuses me. Then the events of the previous day returns to me in a rush. I turn my head and look at Liam that is still asleep on the other side of me. Their steady breathing is the only thing that feels familiar in this place.I carefully extract myself from the bed and stand. My body feels heavy from tension and lack of proper rest. I smooth the covers around the children, before walking quietly to the window. The city is already awake and I am sure that Ethan is awake somewhere, he has always been an early riser.I need coffee. And I need a plan. When I step into the hallway, the scent of food assaults me. I follow the scent to the kitchen and stop in the doorway. There is Ethan standing at the stove, with his sleeves rolled up, cooking eggs and toast. He looks up immediately he senses me.“They’re still asleep,” I say.He nods. “I figured they would be. I made breakfas
ETHAN’S POVHere I am standing inside the bedroom with the key still closed in my fist while facing Isabella blazing eyes, I can see her chest rising and falling as she barely control her fury. The argument has left both of us angry and tired. Her last demand ... that I open the door so she can go to the children ... hangs in the air between us.Lila’s small voice calls out to her again from down the hall, follows by Liam’s more serious tone asking where Mommy went. The sound of their voice cuts through my last resolve.I look at Isabella, then at the door, then back at her. Without another word, I step past her, unlock the door, and pull it open. I walk out into the hallway and close the door behind me, though I do not lock it this time. I still need the barrier. I need a moment to breathe before I do something worse and she needs to calm down.I lean against the wall just outside the bedroom, listening to the muffled sounds of her moving inside the room. My pulse is still running to

ETHAN’S POVThe updated surveillance report lands on my desk just after nine in the morning. I open the file looked into it and a bomb goes of in my head.Inside the file are clear photographs of two small children. A boy with dark hair and a serious expression and a girl with soft curls and a bright smile. Both of them are approximately two years old. The timestamps show them leaving the house with Isabella in the mornings. One image captures the boy holding a toy truck. Another shows the girl clutching a stuffed bear.I stare at the photos for a long time while checking my timeline. The timeline almost matches perfectly. Two years and a few months. Exactly the right age. But I can't be sure.I do not call her or drive to her house. Rather I give some new instructions to my security team.“I need some DNA samples. Get it discreetly From both children. Use whatever access that is necessary school, daycare, discarded items. I want results as fast as possible. Priority processing.”My
ISABELLA’S POVThe days after the fateful encounter feels heavier than before. I keep catching myself staring into space, replaying the moment I almost told Ethan about the twins. The words had been right there, ready to spill. Only the image of Liam’s serious little face and Lila’s soft smile stopped me. I cannot afford another mistake. The always smart Sofia notices my state of mind immediately. She begins to watch me carefully during our evening tea, her expression growing more concerned with each passing day.“You’re not okay,” she says. “Whatever is happening with Ethan is eating you alive.”I try to wave it off, but she doesn’t believe me. The next morning, without telling me, she takes matters into her own hands.ETHAN’S POVSofia walks into my office without an appointment with fire on her ass. I have never seen my assistant look so uncertain, but I gesture for her to let her through. The moment the door closes, Sofia crosses her arms and fixes me with a hard stare.“You need
ETHAN’S POV The morning after the club, I leave Isabella’s house as promised, but the unease stays with me. Something is wrong. The way she looked when she opened the door, ... she is angry, yes, but she is also panicking... keeps replaying in my head. It is like she is hiding something. I call the head of my security the moment I get into the car. “I want discreet eyes on the house. Round the clock. Do not contact them. Just observe. I want to know who comes and goes, and if anything unusual appears.” The order is given. Within hours, the surveillance is put in place. Julian meets me for lunch later that day. The moment he sees my face, he starts laughing. “You look like a man who got exactly what he wanted and still managed to fuck it up,” he says, dropping into the seat across from me. “She ran again, didn’t she?” I don’t answer. Julian leans forward, grinning. “You’re watching the house now, aren’t you? Good. Stop giving her space. Your pride already cost you three years. K
ETHAN'S POVI wake up feeling wrong. My head is thick, foggy, and weighted down by something heavier than a normal night’s sleep. I’ve been drinking whiskey since I was twenty-two, and I know the exact texture of a whiskey morning ... the cotton mouth, the dull throb behind my eyes, the slow churn i
ISABELLA 'S POVI drifted in a haze of exhaustion again, my body limp and throbbing from the relentless pleasure Ethan had already wrung from me. At this point I don't know what time it is or how many rounds we have gone at. The sheets beneath me are damp with sweat and our combined releases. Then,
