Authors POV

Selene, who was dragged inside by her uncle, came out of her room to grab some water. I was surprised to see Leon holding a knife while he walked towards Lewie's direction.

She panicked with each step Leon took and Lewie's nonchalant expression. Her mind was filled with unhealthy thoughts, and without thinking twice, she dashed forward, taking the fall for Lewie.

Thankfully, it was a minor cut on her forehead.

"Selene!!!!! Are you crazy??" Lewie asked in shock; he pushed Leon far away from Selene.

Uncle Nuel, who heard Lewie screaming Selene's name, rushed out to see his niece wounded.

“How did you wound yourself?” he asked, concerned; his eyes never left her forehead.

“Why don't we take her to the hospital first before it gets serious” Lewie asked while trying to divert the talk.

Leon has been standing at a spot since he mistakenly gave Selene the cut; it was never intentional, but the deed has been done.

The ride to the hospital was a silent one; no one spoke till they reached the hospital.

While waiting for the doctor to attend to Selene's wound, Uncle Nuel stepped out of the room.

A few minutes after he went out, the room had a changed atmosphere.

This was Selene and Lewie's first time being in a closed door together. Selene tried to start a conversation with Lewie.

“What were you thinking when he was coming close to you with a knife aimed at your chest”

“Nothing,” he answered with no emotion.

“If I didn't appear like a knight in shining armour and save you, were you going to allow him to stab you with the knife?” she asked again curiously.

“Knight in shining armour? Seems like the wound doesn't hurt much?” He answered with a little smirk.

“You still haven't thanked…” She was cut short by Lewie.

“Seems like it doesn't hurt again?” He asked, pointing at the wound on her forehead.

Selene pinches her dress while tweaking her mouth in a different direction.

Suddenly, Lewie leaned close to her body. Immediately, she turned, and her eyes met his.

His face kept getting closer, his face which now stood some breath away from hers.

Shocked and filled with anticipation, Selene closed her eyes while she pouted her lips out; she could feel his breath on her neck, giving her goosebumps all over her body.

Then, suddenly, she felt a cloth cleaning up the blood on her face.

With a red face, she brought her face down while biting her lips; Lewie only had a devilish smirk on his face.

The atmosphere was weird and silent again. The door was pushed open, and the doctor stepped in.

Having confirmed that the wound was a minor injury, she started dressing it while asking Lewie questions.

“How did your girlfriend get hurt?”

With this unexpected question being asked,

“We aren't……..” Lewie was cut short by Selene.

“It was an accident; besides, couples do have fights.” This time, she had a pitiful look on her face.

“This is a knife cut. Did he use the knife on you? Does he abuse you at home dear? Don't be afraid. I will call the cops on him.” The doctor held her hands, trying to comfort her and get answers from her.

Selene had tears running down her face immediately after the doctor finished asking her questions; the doctor had already concluded she was a victim of abuse.

Initially, Lewie was enjoying the show, but when Selene switched to crying, he knew he had to clear his name before this drama queen implicated him.

“ No, I didn't hit her; I'm not an abusive man, nor did I give her the cut on her face,” Lewie explained calmly while giving Selene an offensive side-eye.

“He wasn't the one that hurt me” Selene answered weakly.

“ I understand you may not want me involved, but don't even let a man abuse you in silence, speak up, seek help. You can always reach out to me, Lovie.” The doctor gave Selene her number while prescribing drugs for her.

“These are her drugs; you can get them at the pharmacy; the last one would help clear up the scar; I hope this will be the last time you hurt her? “she asked without waiting for a reply; she handed the prescription to him and left.

“Are you angry that the kiss you were expecting never came through?” He now sat down beside her and asked.

“Did I tell you I was expecting something?” Selene asked, with her eyes betraying her, she held the edge of her dress tight while pinching it.

“You weren't? I guess I was seeing things, things like your lips reached out for a kiss and your eyes closed in expectations”

Seeing Lewie wasn't going to give you easily, she feigned having a headache.

“Ouch!!!! My head hurts,” she shouted while placing her two hands on her head.

“Does it hurt?” Lewie asked worriedly. “ Why don't you lie down? Let me go get drugs,” he placed his hands on her head, helping her to lie down very well on the bed.

Lewie left, and Selene came out of character. Bored, with nothing to do she dozed off.

The door opened slightly, and Leon stepped in with a pleading face.

He had come to apologise, but met a sleeping Selene.

Stepping close to check on her wounds, her sleeping face drew his attention. This wasn't his first time seeing her face, but this was the first time he took a close look and noticed every feature of her face.

He had some crazy thoughts running through his mind, at first rejecting the ideas, but the more he kept looking at the face, the more he was tempted.

Leon sat quietly beside Selene in the bed, his eyes scanning her body.

Slowly, with an unrhymed breath, he leaned close, and his breath on Selene's body woke her up.

Her face was an inch away from this, still trying to understand what was happening.

The door of the hospital room was opened.
