Liana

Today—finally—I manage to pull myself together. I listen to Hunt like my life depends on it—every word, every instruction. No drifting. No slipping.

We get a couple of trauma cases from a car accident, and I’m right there in it—hands steady, mind clear, doing what I’m actually good at.

By the end of it, Dr. Sheila Dale looks genuinely pleased. Which—doesn’t happen easily.

Even Melissa’s usual comments barely register. I don’t bite, don’t react. She’s the last person I’m letting g

Shaun “Looks like Kyle let Chelsea go three days after we handed her over to him.” Xavier drops a folder of surveillance photos onto my desk. “She’s been keeping herself off the grid since. But it’s clear she’s back in contact with the same guy she was having the affair with. We’re close to putting a name to him.” I pick up the folder and flip through the photos. Chelsea’s clearly been putting in the effort to stay invisible—plain jacket, plain pants, hair tucked under a baseball cap, an oversized pair of glasses swallowing half her face. Last night, after listening to the recording of Kyle and Liana’s conversation, two things had my blood boiling. One: Kyle apparently has the audacity to have his eyes on my wife. Two: it sounds like during her little stint as his prisoner, Chelsea decided to run her mouth with impressive generosity, handing over everything she knew about us like she was doing a public service. I still can’t quite work out whether that was the currency she use

I finally shake myself out of it and get up. Time to check out the basement levels. I head to my room and change into a sports bra and leggings, then make my way down, floor by floor. Three levels to the first basement. Two. One. I step onto the landing of sublevel one and I’m met with polished concrete and gleaming glass walls stretching out in front of me. The space suffocates me. Sterile. Silent. The walls are lined with dual-spectrum cameras that track my every movement, each one answering with a soft, mechanical click. Right now, to the estate’s security team, I’m nothing more than a glowing heat signature wandering through a concrete shell. I have to stay careful, deliberate—can’t let myself look suspicious for even a second. I cross the glass bridge that cuts through the middle of the wing, leading straight toward the heavy glass doors of the main gym. This is where the ground opens up beneath the floor, giving a direct view straight down into the second basement level. I

What the hell? His lips move over mine with maddening patience, impossibly soft despite the certainty behind them. His scent fills my head until I can’t think past it. Warm cedar. Clean soap. Him. My eyes fall shut on their own, and I kiss him back, helpless not to. Long enough that my breath starts to come apart. The dream flashing back into my mind does nothing to help my resistance. Until his own words echo back at me. “When I kiss you, you’re nothing but fire and want.” No. No. I break away abruptly. Air rushes into my lungs. I open my mouth… but nothing comes out. I can only stare at him, completely at a loss. His hands stay where they are, cradling my face. His thumb brushes over my bottom lip and drags it down, slow, like he’s savoring something. A look that can only be described as quiet satisfaction settles into his eyes. “Don’t worry, Doc. It’s not just you.” What on earth is that supposed to mean? “And to put your mind at ease,” he tilts his head, eyes s

“God, I’ve missed you.” The whisper brushes against my ear. I’d know that voice anywhere. A coy, flirtatious smile curves onto my lips. “Oh, Julian.” “Yeah, baby.” His lips drift along the side of my neck, the warmth of his breath sending a shiver racing through me. My eyes fall shut, drunk on the sensation. “What are you doing here?” “Where else would I be?” He pushes the thin strap of my nightgown aside. “I love you. And I’m not going anywhere.” His mouth closes around my nipple. A soft moan slips out of me, my fingers tangling into his hair. That’s when I feel it—another mouth, wet and warm, trailing slowly up the inside of my thigh. I lift my head and find myself staring straight into bright gray eyes. My heart lurches. “Shaun?” He smiles, rising over me until his face hovers above mine. “Hey, Doc.” My gaze darts helplessly between the two of them. I swallow hard. “W-What’s going on?” “This is what you want.” Shaun murmurs against my lips before kissin

His double-take doesn’t even last a full second before he grabs my arm, pulling me hard against his side, and plants a palm flat against Julian’s chest to shove him back. “Don’t touch her.” Shaun keeping me away from Julian isn’t anything new. Usually, though, there’s a smug grin attached to it. A cutting remark, purely to needle him, to piss him off. Now? None of that. Now he feels more like a man who’s been wounded than one trying to provoke somebody else. Is he… jealous? Julian studies his face carefully for a long moment. “How long do you think you can keep this charade going?” Shaun pulls me tighter against him. “As long as I damn well want to.” “Soon enough, you’re going to have to let her go. Trust me, I’ll make sure of it.” What does he mean by that? “Don’t you have a pregnant woman waiting on you somewhere close by?” Shaun says. “I’d suggest you go back to her.” Julian’s gaze drops to me. “Don’t let him get under your skin, Liana. He’s—” “That’s enough.” Sh

Liana Following my dear husband’s very clear instructions, I stayed away from my father and Diana. Shaun obviously didn’t want my father noticing that my devoted husband had abandoned me for a long stretch in the middle of a gala—God forbid the thought crosses his mind that his son-in-law couldn’t care less about me. Hypocritical bastard. In the meantime, as I was heading toward Ava, I saw her in deep conversation with Millie and Amber. Just the perfect cocktail to push my last shred of sanity further away. No, thank you. So, I’ve spent most of this time tucked into a corner, alone. Where the hell did he even go? It’s been ages and there’s still no sign of him. I’m about to down my fourth glass of champagne when, to my absolute shock and horror, a familiar face cuts through the crowd. His eyes are already fixed on me. And he’s walking straight in my direction with unmistakable purpose. Kyle fucking Richards. A slow smile curls at the corner of his mouth as he reaches

Shaun It’s almost impossible to distinguish anything through the chaos.
Gunfire cracks through the air from every direction, sharp enough to vibrate through the walls, while people scream over each other somewhere beyond the smoke and shattered glass. The scent of blood and burning metal hangs

For one irrational second, I actually wonder if I’m drunk enough to be hallucinating him. But the closer we get, the more impossible denial becomes. Those same dark hair strands I used to wrap around my fingers. Those same deep eyes I drowned in willingly. That same face I held between my hands li

“This is Shaun Stone,” Evan says smoothly, gesturing toward the man beside him. “Mr. Stone’s eldest son.”
Oh, fuck you, Melissa. Looks like you were right. Eldest son, huh? Which means the mysterious new bastard son was conceived somewhere in the middle of Randall Stone’s very respectable marriage
