Luca moved his head, pressing his forehead against Jedidiah’s and stared down into his eyes. If someone had told him a two weeks ago that he would be standing here with one of his soulmates, he probably would have called them a liar.

Though sure enough, here was Jedi, one of two soulmates who plucked him out of a river, saved him from downing and the abuse of his father, and who have done nothing but love and care for him. He had almost forgotten what it was like to be held by another person, to receive kisses, and to generally feel safe in the presence of someone else.
