“Uncle?” My fingers tightened around the strap of my bag as my brain failed to believe that my husband was being bent over by a man he introduced to me as his uncle from his mother’s side. This can’t be real… Chuckling humorlessly to myself, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, willing myself that the sight before me would vanish when I opened them. However, when I opened my eyes, the shameless man, now pulled out of my husband, stroked his rigid dick whilst glaring at me as if I were the shameless person here. “What the fuck is going on?!” I bellowed at Ethan, my throat suddenly going dry. Ethan quickly fixed his pants, his mouth opening and closing with no actual words leaving it... not even an apology. The pumping sound coming from Uncle Jasper as he stroked his dick made it difficult to think... and I don’t mean this in a good way, I mean it in a disgusting kind of way! “Are you going to put that pinky finger away, or do I have to shove it off you and throw it in the bin?!” So this was the meeting Ethan talked about? Bending over for his uncle? Is he even his uncle, or was that just a lie to keep me unsuspecting? With a scoff, Jasper finally stopped stroking his dick, bent down, and pulled his pants up. “I thought you said she wouldn’t be a problem?” Refusing to be distracted by his shamelessness, I returned my attention to Ethan. “Is this really what you have been up to all this while you have been claiming to be busy with work?” I demanded, taking a step closer to him. “I thought you had a meeting?! An actual meeting?!” My eyes stung from the unshed tears. After all the sacrifices I made for him, this is the betrayal I get? Ethan took a shaky breath as he took a step towards me. “Can we not do this here?” he whispered, guilt flashing across his face. “My staff can hear us.” My glare intensified as the tears clouding my vision finally rolled down my cheeks. “Fuck you, Ethan!” He thinks I care about his staff? Taken aback by my outburst, Ethan frowned. “I understand you are pissed, but I won’t let this affect my work.” He pointed towards the door. “Go home, Aurora. When I get home tomorrow, we’ll talk about this.” “Tomorrow?!” I yelled, stabbing my finger at the shameless man watching the drama unfold in the corner of the room. “You’re still spending the night here? With him?!” He scrubbed his hand down his face. “Just leave, Aurora.” “You cheated!” I cried, my hand itching to throw anything at him. “You cheated on me with that bastard, and I am the one who has to leave?” “Are you going to shut her up?” Jasper hissed at Ethan. “All this shouting from her is giving me a headache and is slowly getting me pissed, and you know what happens when I get pissed.” “How about you shut the fuck up and get the hell out of this place!” I spat, my lips trembling. “You are the bastard who shouldn’t be here!” Rolling his eyes, he turned to Ethan. “Is she leaving, or should I?” Dumbfounded by his audacity, I folded my arms and jutted my hips out, giving Ethan the chance to choose, and to my dismay, he chose him. My husband picked up the landline and phoned his secretary, instructing her to come in and guide me out. Scoffing in disbelief, I wiped my tears roughly off my face, glaring at the biggest mistake of my life. “I can’t believe I gave it all up for you.” A self-realization I didn’t think I would be admitting to in this lifetime. I don’t know what hurt me the most: the fact that he cheated, the fact that he isn’t showing any remorse, or the fact that he chose him over me. “Do you want to lose your job?” Ethan snapped at his secretary, who stood beside me with her hands clasped in front of her. “I called you in here to escort her out!” “That won’t be necessary.” I refused to be insulted any further than I already had. “I’ll leave.” Snatching up the dinner pack, because there was no way I was letting him use my food to replenish his power after what he did, I stomped out of his office, banging the door behind me. Not bothering to wipe the tears pouring down my face, I stomped out of the building, straight for Dora’s car, and banged the door shut. “That wasn’t as quick as I thought it would be,” Dora teased as she slowly lifted her eyes off her phone to my face. She froze instantly, her lashes batting rapidly. “Are you crying?” She undid her seatbelt, leaning closer to me. “What happened?” Her probing and concerned expression made it difficult to control my emotions, so the silent tears turned into loud sobbing. Dora pulled me against her chest and wrapped her arms around me, patting my back gently. “What’s going on?” she whispered, her voice trembling, she too on the verge of crying. “I walked in on Ethan having sex,” I choked out, my entire body shaking as I sobbed into her chest. “Did you just say that ugly motherfucker is cheating on you with his secretary?” she hissed, pulling me back a bit to look me in the face. The murderous look in her eyes made me chuckle. Wiping my face with the heel of my hand, I leaned back into my seat. “He wasn’t cheating with his secretary, but his uncle.” Her eyes widened. “Family incest?” Now that I think about it, I think I was just stupid in the past not to see the truth. “I don’t think he was ever his uncle.” Ethan lied to make me unsuspecting of them. Exhaling, I leaned my head against the window and closed my eyes. “Take me home. I am tired.”ETHANThelma Wells followed me on Instagram. For a few seconds, I stared at the notification, unable to process what I was seeing. Thelma Wells. The woman I have been trying to get closer to. The woman whose attention I had been desperately trying to capture. My first thought was that it had to be a scam account until I clicked on the message she sent me.She addressed me as ETH.That was the exact initial I have been using to sign off on the flowers I have been sending her.She knew it was me and asked for my address. She asked for my address!I can’t freaking believe this!My doorbell rang, pulling me out the giddy state I have been in for over two hours since I sent that address to her.Rolling off the bed, I hurried towards the front door, hoping and praying it isn’t Jasper because I am too sore to have him stick up anything.Pulling the door open, I was surprised to see a delivery dude standing outside my door, holding a gigantic bouquet. The arrangement was so big that it almost
AURORA“So, the plan is to make them go bankrupt, right?” Dora asked, a mischievous smile spreading across her lips as she plopped down on the bed.I nodded, unable to hide my own smile. “I am going to warm up to him on social media as Thelma Wells. Once I gain his trust, I will advise him to take whatever business advice Spencer gives him.”Dora grinned from ear to ear, threw herself backward onto the bed and burst into a loud, almost witch-like laugh.“You have no idea how much I have dreamed of this day,” she said between laughs. “The day Jasper and Ethan finally face the karma they deserve for what they did to you.”Going after Jasper had never been part of my plan. I had been more than willing to leave the past where it belonged. But after what they had done to Dora… hell, I was pissed. They crossed a line.“And speaking of you,” I said, turning the conversation back to her, “I already spoke to Jonah. He found you a position as an assistant head chef.”Dora immediately sat uprigh
AURORAEventually, we made it to the apartment. And let me tell you, nothing about this place screamed budget.Absolutely nothing. The moment I stepped inside, I knew there was no way this apartment belonged anywhere near my price range. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered an insane view of Manhattan. The apartment itself was spacious, bright, and beautifully decorated. Everything looked expensive, from the furniture to the light fixtures and even the little decorations placed carefully around the rooms. And did I mention it came fully furnished? Not with cheap furniture, either.Everything looked like it had been picked from some ridiculously expensive showroom. You get my point now, right? There was no way I could afford this place.“Do you like the place?” Spencer asked.I turned around to find him watching me as I walked out of one of the bedrooms.Oh, and did I mention it was a two-bedroom apartment?“The place is lovely.”My eyes wandered around the living room again before set
AURORAThe flowers came again. This time, however, they came with a social media handle written beneath the message, along with a shameless invitation for me to reach out if I was curious about the identity of the person sending them. Apparently, if we clicked, he would be kind enough to give me his number. The shameless audacity. My phone vibrated against the surface of my desk, pulling my attention away from the documents Spencer passed down to me to read. Spencer looked up from the file in his hands, his eyes briefly flicking toward my phone before returning to the document.I swiped across the screen and placed the phone against my ear. “Did you find the place?”I had tasked Jonah with helping me find an apartment within my budget, and so far, he had found absolutely nothing.Honestly, I didn’t believe it was because there weren’t apartments within my price range. I suspected it had more to do with the fact that Jonah was being ridiculously picky about everything the realtors sho
AURORA We returned to the venue after a while, but neither of us made any effort to mingle with the other guests. It almost felt as though Spencer had made up his mind not to leave me alone. He stayed beside me the entire time, occasionally making small comments about the people around us or asking if I needed anything. “Mr. Spencer?” A familiar voice called from behind us.Spencer and I turned at the same time.Ethan stood there in a cream tuxedo jacket, a black tie, and perfectly tailored black trousers. Beside him stood Jasper, dressed in a three-piece black suit.Ethan’s gaze moved between Spencer and me.“You two know each other?” he asked.I shook my head and immediately took a small step away from Spencer. “Not everyone standing beside each other in this room knows each other,” I said dryly.Spencer raised an eyebrow but said nothing. His attention shifted to Ethan and then to Jasper.“And you two?” he asked. “Are you that close? First, JW Cosmetics recommends you for a job,
AURORA Stepping into the hall for the summit, I immediately spotted Jonas moving through the crowd. He was already doing what he did best, introducing himself, shaking hands, and talking about what I assumed was the new venture our father wanted to pursue.I stayed a few steps away and watched him.Jonas had always been good at this sort of thing. He knew how to smile at the right moment, how to make people feel important, and how to keep a conversation going without saying too much. I paid attention to the little things, the way he held eye contact, the questions he asked, even the way he smoothly moved from one person to another.I stored away whatever I could learn.I might need it someday. As Jonas continued networking, my eyes wandered across the crowded hall. Then I saw him.Spencer.I had been looking for him since I walked through those doors.I excused myself from the small group around me, picked up a glass of champagne from a passing waiter, and headed toward him.Spencer
