SPENCER

I should have known Jonas was up to something when he suddenly invited me to dinner at his home.

That is his parents’ specialty, not his.

Despite being friends for a while now, he has never invited me to his house before, so I should have known something was up when he suddenly asked me to come over.

Ignoring Aurora, who stood by the dining table arranging the plates, I headed up the stairs toward Jonas’ office, thanks to the housekeeper’s directions.

After two knocks on the door, I pul

AURORA In as much as I was more than eager to get back to work, I didn’t like how fast Monday came. No matter how I looked at it, I didn’t see how working with Spencer wouldn’t be uncomfortable. This is going to be awkward.“So you got a job,” Dora said with a large grin on her face. “And your family are more than happy that you are back. Ethan is nothing but a sore loser in all of this.” She lifted her wine glass. “To more decisions that will be a kick in the ass for Ethan.”Chuckling, I clipped the Gucci brooch Jonas got for me onto my black suit jacket before taking a step back to admire my final look.“Why are you drinking this early, Dorathy?”“I am a chef.”I glanced at her. “What does that have to do with drinking?”“I am tasting an ingredient for cooking.”Jesus.Chuckling, I shook my head as I reached for my perfume.“Is that real?” she blurted out, leaning closer to the screen.I had to turn to figure out what she was talking about. “Is what real?”“The brooch.”Okay…I may

He hurt her really bad.Being nosy is not something I have done in my life, but somehow, I find myself interested in what happened between Aurora and Ethan. There was something about the way her expression hardened every time his name came up that made me curious.“Don’t you think it’s only fair I know something about the man my fiancée ditched me for?”Aurora narrowed her eyes at me. “What I do owe you is an apology over what happened back then, but I do not owe you the reason for my divorce from Ethan.”The crease on her forehead told me I should drop the matter and let it go. Whatever happened between her and Ethan was clearly something she wasn’t ready to speak about. With time, she is going to get comfortable enough to open up to me.“What are you guys talking about?” Jonas chimed in excitedly as he walked back into the dining room as though he wasn’t the one who had put his si

AURORAWhen Spencer walked past in the living room, I was tempted to race after him, place my ear on the closed door, and eavesdrop on whatever he was going to discuss with Jonas, but I knew better.Having them open the door on me while I was eavesdropping was going to make me want the ground to open and swallow me whole, and I definitely didn’t want that.I was already too embarrassed around Spencer as it was. The last thing I needed was to add another humiliating memory to the growing list.Besides, if Spencer caught me spying on him, I was sure he would never let me live it down.Seated at the dining table with a wine glass in hand, I waited for my brother to join me. The silence in the house suddenly felt louder than usual, and I found myself glancing toward the staircase every few seconds.A few minutes later, Jonas appeared at the stairway, closely followed by Spencer, who wore his usual stoic expression that revealed absolutely nothing. It was honestly unfair how someone could

ETHANMy house feels empty, but I have to give myself the consolation that I sacrificed my life and my marriage with Aurora for the greater good.To think I have not gone home since she packed up and left. I have either been sleeping in a hotel, spending the night at my office, or crashing at Jasper’s place. Somehow, every excuse felt easier than walking into a house that no longer felt like home.Turns out, I miss Aurora more than I care to admit.Stirring the tea in my cup absentmindedly, I slowly lifted my head and stared at the man seated across from me, completely immersed in the business magazine spread open in front of him.“When are you going to introduce me to your family?” I asked. It had been one month since the divorce, so I had every right to say the introduction was long overdue.“You want to meet my family?” Jasper asked as he slowly lowered the magazine, giving me a careful, almost suspicious look. “As in an actual introduction?”“For business,” I corrected. “You promi

AURORAWalking through the house that had felt suffocating in the past… and, judging by the look of things, still did, I couldn’t help but wonder what my life would have been like if I had never left.Would I have been happier?Or would I have still ended up searching for a way out?Jonas placed his hand against the small of my back, gently guiding me toward the stairs. “They are waiting for us in the garden.”I blinked rapidly. “We have a garden now?”He chuckled softly. “Don’t start. Mum says it wards off the negative energy in the family, and Dad eventually fell in love with the space.”He led me through the back of the house, and the moment we stepped outside, I found myself staring at a place that looked nothing like the home I remembered. It was beautiful.Mum had done an incredible job with the garden. A winding stone pathway cut through perfectly trimmed hedges, colourful flowers bloomed in every direction, and a stunning glass house sat proudly at the centre. Beautiful vines
