The night seemed to drag as William and Austyn snored together. The pullout couch was comfortable, but I missed my bed. The window in the room kept my boredness away for quite some time as I watched the never-ending snow fall. However, I couldn’t fall asleep. Maybe it was the fact I couldn’t stop being on edge about this whole situation, or maybe it was the grey eyes that kept flashing in my thoughts, but I couldn’t relax.

Deciding on a walk, I gathered my book and quietly made my way down the long hallway; the chandelier lights above were now dimmed, and quietness fell throughout the house. My footsteps seemed loud.

Settling down on the couch I had sat on earlier, I let out a heavy sigh and opened my book.

*The sun set with colors of yellows, pinks, and distant purples as we walked hand in hand through the trees; around us birds flew into their homes for the night and I couldn’t help the smile which painted my face.

We stopped, and I was pulled into his chest, his scent gathering around me and reminding me I was in the safest place in the world. Nothing could get me here. Nothing could find me here.

His lips brushed against mine, sparks flying, and I welcomed the warmth of him into my mouth. Our lips moved slowly at first, my hands moving up into his small curls, fingers gripping lightly, and deepening the kiss, his hands moved down to my hips.

Tightly, he pulled my waist close to his, and I could feel just how excited he was, the hardness sending sensations of-*

“Couldn’t sleep?” A deep voice lunged me out of my book and closing the pages with a loud umph, I looked up to see Isaiah, who smiled at me.

“What are you doing here?” I sat up, feet drawing together, and pulling my book to my chest, I scooted over; Isaiah took the invitation and sat down, his arm going over the back of the couch and he smirked.

“Can I not be in my own house?”

My eyes bugged. “You own this house?!” Holy shit this guy must be loaded.

Isaiah let out a laugh. “I said live, not own.”

I smiled and drew my breath back in. “I guess that does make more sense given tonight's events,” Recalling how the stranger had busted in earlier, I could only imagine what kind of job he had to afford to own such a lavish home… If he owned this anyway.

Isaiah’s eyes looked down. “Through the trees, aye?”

“Huh?”

“Your book,” He pointed towards my book, and I immediately flushed; the cover faced him, which had a very shirtless man embracing a very not-so-covered woman.

“Oh,” I spat out a little too loud of a laugh, and my hands covered the book. “Yeah, I like to read.” Duh Valerie. “I- I couldn’t sleep so I came out and tried to calm my nerves which apparently isn’t helping because I’m still awake,” The words jumbled out of me but Isaiah didn’t seem to mind.

“That’s alright, Valerie, I couldn’t sleep either. My nerves also got shot tonight with everything that happened,”

Am I being… Understood?

“Is he your brother? That guy that came in and yelled at you?” The one I couldn’t stop thinking about for some reason, his tall and built presence was enough to drive me into thoughts that only my books give me.

Isaiah’s presence immediately changed, and he shifted uncomfortably on the couch. “No, thank goodness. He’s… Well… Um… Kallen is kind of like my boss,”

Kallen… Now knowing a name to put to the beautiful, sculpted face, I smiled lightly, yet thinking about Isaiah’s answer, I twisted my face into confusion. “Boss? Aren’t you like, I don’t know, seventeen?” Like me?

He nodded and thought for a moment. “I am seventeen, but it’s complicated. I live under his roof, so I follow his rules.”

“Where’s your parents?” The question drooled out of me before I could think. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be intrusive,”

“My parents died when I was younger,” Pain painted his face. “Kallen’s family made sure that I had a place to live, a school to go to, and food to fill my stomach. I owe him more than my life,”

“Oh.” What do you say to something like that? “I’m sorry, Isaiah, I shouldn’t have asked.”

“No,” He shrugged and took a deep breath. “It was a long time ago, it’s… easier to talk about now.” Silence moved its way in between us and biting my lip, I looked anywhere but the guy in front of me. Who knew he carried such heaviness at such a young age.

“Isaiah?” A girl's voice broke the silence between us. A small framed girl, maybe around thirteen, came bouncing in; she too had bright green eyes and brown hair like Isaiah. “Who is this?”

Isaiah reached out for the girl who instantly took his hand, eyeing me carefully as she walked closer to Isaiah. “This is Valerie, my friend from school.”

Friend?

“Hi,” I smiled towards the girl. “What’s your name?”

Not answering, she sat down next to Isaiah, who pushed at her shoulder with his own. “Don’t be rude,” He scolded.

The girl looked me up and down for a moment more before speaking. “I’m Heather,”

“My sister,” Isaiah smiled, finishing for her. “My sister, who isn’t supposed to be up at this hour yet for some odd reason, she is,”

Heather's lips curved and she looked towards her brother, the both of them looking so similar that it was crazy they weren’t the same person; Heather had a dusting of freckles on her bubbly cheeks but she was beautiful - I couldn’t imagine how young she was when their parents passed.

“Well excuse me, Mr. I-think-I-am-the-alpha,”

There’s that word again: Alpha.

Before I could even ask what it meant, Isaiah stood with his hand in his sisters and bid me a goodnight; the both of them leaving me in the darkened living room with only my book as my company.

A hand lingered on my waist and a pair of lips kissed my earlobe, my feet tangled up with someone else's, and as my eyes fluttered open, I could see the day break push past the cream colored curtains.“Good morning, doll,” a husky voice whispered into my ear, and I felt so happy to know that last night wasn’t just some dream - it really happened. “I got you some toast and eggs if you’re hungry,”Smiling, I sat up. “Thank you,” Looking over, Kallen lazily smiled, his grey eyes seemed to be dreamy, and since he was still shirtless, I let myself have a small peek.Damn.He definitely had a six-pack, and I could see the darkened lines of a scar, one I hadn’t noticed last night, swooping from his hip and over his stomach. I wanted to ask, but again, that emotional line needn't be crossed, especially since I didn’t know how long this was to last.Kallen got up and handed me a plate of warm food, one for himself, and together, we ate in silence. The eggs were topped with a gooey cheese, and

Valerie's POV I couldn’t help but wonder what workout routine Kallen had as his back faced me, filling out his red sweatshirt that complimented his golden skin tone beautifully, and I could just imagine how strong those hands of his were. I have never seen such a God like man in my life, only ones I knew of existing in my fantasies and books.“This can be yours,” He spoke over his shoulder before opening a dark wood door, one of the two in this hallway, and led me inside; the inside looked just like the one I had slept in last night, minus the pullout couch and there were a few more paintings that covered the walls. Smiling, I sat down on the bed. My fingers grazed over the soft quilt beneath me. “Thank you Kallen,” Saying his name sent shivers down my spine and I thought back to the spark like feeling I got everytime we touched today. Kallen’s eyes of grey lightened and he sat down on the bed beside me, his eyes tracing over my features and I couldn’t help but feel insecure. “You’

William and Austyn had no trouble sleeping in and instead of trying to have a repeat of last night, I stayed on the pull out couch and read my book, ignoring the two snoring beasts behind me, and with a sigh I looked up every so often just to see the snow hadn't stopped. The room was warm with the scent of cinnamon and vanilla, and every so often, I could hear people walk past and I couldn’t help but wonder why Kallen -if it was truly his- would have such a giant house… Did he have his own family? He didn’t seem like he was much older than me but I guess I do know a girl who dropped out last year to have a baby. She was only fifteen. Maybe Kallen had kids young? Maybe not.I pushed the thoughts away as they seemed to make a cloud loom over me with heaviness… It took about another hour or so for Austyn to wake up, pee, and push William out of the bed. “Wake up William,” She groaned and as he hit the ground with a quick oomph, William was quick to stand.“That… That was the best night

The room was quiet when I entered, the snow that fell outside illuminated the room just enough that I was able to make it across the plush cream colored carpet, past the bed that held two snoring lovers, and plumping down on the pullout couch, I was surprised how comfortable it felt. I kept my clothes on, not caring that I probably smelt like weed, and as I got cozy, I thought of a certain God-like man: Kallen. His body was not only made up of height but also of broadness, his shoulders wide, and I could only imagine the golden skin of what his most-than-definitely-has abs would look like; a six pack? Eight? My fingertips longed to know. But I pushed the thoughts away, ignoring a warm sensation that gathered between my legs and closed my eyes, drifting away.*“Valerie,” A deep voice whispered into my ear, a hot cloud of breath dancing up the side of my earlobe and sending shivers down my spine as I laid on the couch; a large hand, one that was no stranger to work slid over my expos

  • Two Fated Mates   The Stranger

The stranger who must’ve owned the house smiled mockingly as he took in Williams' terrified look, snow falling even faster and heavier around us, and the three of us in the car blinked blankly.“I know you all know the house is big enough for a few guests and seeing as your car is still on my road, turned off may I add, and that the snow has taken a liking to fucking us all, you might as well spend the night,”Each word he spoke was like a deep growl and I tried to push back this feeling of warmth that tried to settle in my bones when he spoke; maybe it was just all the second hand smoking of pot I had done tonight. “I- I, um,” William stuttered, his hand going up to scratch his cheek. The stranger's lips tugged slightly as he watched William squirm underneath his gaze, power and authority pooled around him and as his eyes now seemed like a lighter grey, snow landing delicately in his dark black lockets of hair. He seemed broad as he leaned down into the car window, arms holding the
