Aurora's POV

“Come on, give that back. It's personal." I tried to retrieve the envelope from Asher but he wouldn't budge. He kept pushing me to the side with just an arm.

I couldn't let him see the content.

It was terrifying as I had already created his reaction in my head which was scary.

“I was going to show it to you when the time is right, you should give that back now." I yelled, grabbing his arm and pulling it downwards.

It was working but just when I was about to relieve him of the envelope, he lost his grip and everything crashed to the floor.

For a split second, the world stopped revolving as both of us stood apart, staring at the documents which were all over the place.

“You could have handed it over when I asked you to." I muttered, falling to my knees but before I could start assembling the documents, he beat me to it.

Confused, I stood aside, staring at him as I prayed the content changed to something favourable or more still, the ground should open up and swallow me.

  • Two Times Rejected, Now Desired By The Lycan King.   Ninety Six.

Reader's POVEmma and Scarlet were standing behind the oak door, staring hard at the wall like they could see through it. Behind the door was a bedridden Alpha Simone with a handful of physicians who had been summoned to check on his health. When the news of the last rogue attack that claimed about a hundred wolves got to him, he slumped and since then he had been bedridden. He was refusing to see anyone, not even Emma or Scarlet, apart from the physicians and assigned maids but he had been requesting for the presence of Aurora.Sliding through the wall to the floor, Scarlet pulled her legs up to her chin, biting the side of her lips as her heart rammed against her chest in fury. She was scared and angry at the same time. She was scared because the physicians kept saying he had a slim chance of survival and on the other hand, she was angry because it was so soon.Just when she was about to start the process of taking Aurora down so she would become the next leader, he slumped and no

Asher's POVPeace was gradually becoming a foreign word to me. The only reason why I was still sane was because it was my personal matters and it didn't concern the kingdom. After speaking to the elders this morning, I had to stop by my study to flip through my schedule for the day before going out for inspection. And then I saw the envelope on my table. At first I thought it was Talen but when he refuted claiming he was just stepping into my office for the first time that morning, my mind went into a quick motion. I discreetly asked the guards stationed around my study that night but they all claimed no one entered my study. Finally, I tore open the envelope and for a moment the world around me came to a halt as I stared at the single piece of paper I was wielding.Gulping, I tried to speak but my throat was dried.Connecting the dots, I decided to drop by and check on Aurora just in case she received similar documents but hers was something else.Right now, I was in my study, st

Aurora's POVBending my hand slightly, he pulled me aside, using his free hand to tuck the document into his pocket. It was suspicious and the few moments of peace I had earlier fizzled into the thin air and now, my whole body was trembling. “You shouldn't let little things get into you." He said, stroking my hair tenderly. I wanted to move away from him but I felt my feet were stuck to the ground.Rubbing my forehead which was now aching, I raised my head slowly, trying to read at least a reaction from his eyes but it was void. With my lips pressed into a thin line, I began to make up the perfect question in my head to ask him but my mind was not functioning. I had blanked out at a crucial moment.“You need to get some rest." He gave my hand a soft squeeze before turning his back on me. He was already at the door when he turned around to face me, “Next time, you should let me know, don't keep it to yourself." My head nodded involuntarily as I watched his departing figure, my hear

Aurora’s POVHonestly, Gavin acted way beyond my expectations last night. His guts were glaring and for a split second I thought he would be able to defeat Asher but the truth was, he was just being reckless. Smirking, I pushed a grape into my mouth only to start chuckling as his facial expression came to play in my head. Last night, he tried to engage me in a conversation, daring Asher who was in the same room with us.Asher didn't make a fuss, he stood aside, giving us privacy but Gavin was unable to speak. It was as if his tongue had been ripped out of his mouth. Several times I caught him looking over his shoulder in Asher’s direction. It took all I had not to laugh in his face.Asher was silent but his message was passed effectively. He was like, I brought the price, try to take her. After what happened last night, if I was in Gavin's place, I would channel my efforts into something else and give up already. Picking another grape, I pushed it into my mouth as I picked up my

Reader’s POVThe moment Palmer halted outside the palace, Miller did the same and after a quick survey to ascertain no one was watching them, she pinned him against the wall. “What are you going to get from this?" She said through her teeth, pushing him further into the wall like she was going to embed him inside. “Nothing, I’m just being selfless." He said and with a single push, he made her stumble backwards. He was already heading in the opposite direction when she ran up to him, now walking side by side, she whispered, “Tell me, do you think they heard us?" Palmer didn't respond. He too was trying to get a response to the same question she asked. From all clear indications, Aurora had heard their conversation but he wasn't certain yet. “Are you bothered?" He chuckled. “You said you were not up to any mischief so you don't need to worry about them hearing our conversation." He mouthed and with his hands tucked in his pockets, he left her side. After staring at his departing f

Aurora’s POVTurning sharply to face Asher, he quickly climbed out of the car and then walked around, yanking open the door for me to step out.The fact that he was acting like he had no idea what he was up to made me sick in the stomach. Inside of me, I was fuming but somehow, I managed to maintain a calm facade, pretending like nothing was wrong.“Here," He pushed his hand towards me which I took and with calculated footsteps, he led me from the garage and soon we were on the aisle that led to the pack house. This was the first time I was stepping into Gavin’s pack. We first met in my father's study when the connection sparked and that same day before he left the pack, he rejected me. The silence between me and Asher was thick like a fog. He was holding me so we were supposed to be walking at the same pace but I was trailing behind him. With each step I took, I felt that the ground should just open up and swallow me as I wasn't ready to face Gavin just yet even though I was itchi

Aurora's POVFlashing me a smile like nothing has happened a few minutes ago, he placed his hand on my shoulder only to start massaging my cheek with the other. Grabbing his hand on my shoulder, I pushed him off but he didn’t act like I did something out of the ordinary. With my hands folded on my chest, I turned my back on him but said no words.Honestly, I had no idea why I was reacting this way. I had a lot of questions to ask, I should go ahead with it instead of stalling for time. “Are you alright?" Asher asked and immediately, I swirled around, locking eyes with him instantly. Pushing his hands into his pockets, he raised his brow, urging me to speak but still I remained mute. “What are you up to, Asher?” I asked when I finally found my tongue. Crossing my arms on my chest, I leaned against the doorframe so he wouldn't leave without answering my questions. He didn’t look surprised by my question, in fact, it seemed like he was expecting it. With a small smirk playing on

Aurora’s POVDarting my eyes around, I tried to think but my head suddenly went blank and to make the situation even more messy, my heart was hammering loudly that I was sure they heard it.Biting the side of my lips, I allowed my gaze to fall on the broken pieces of vase. My mind screamed at me to move, to run, to hide but my limbs refused to cooperate. Out of the blue, heavy footsteps like someone running in my direction caused me to raise my head and when I did, I locked eyes with Asher. He didn't even give me time to process what was happening before sliding his hand around my waist and pulling me to himself. Gently placing my back on the wall, he cupped my chin, “Aurora," he called through his teeth, his voice sharp and low as panic spread over his face.Raising my brow, I tried to ask him what he was doing here but I was tongue tied. I had left him at the study and there was absolutely no way the fallen flower vase had attracted him as we were far apart. Even if someone was
