Kellan choked on his water, giving me a quick side-eye. I stared right back at him, silently letting him know I wasn’t going to drop the question until he gave me an answer.

“Are you trying to avoid my question?” I asked, narrowing my eyes when I noticed he was taking his time sipping like his life depended on that water.

“No. Can’t I just drink water in peace?” he muttered, but I noticed the tips of his ears turning red. I couldn’t tell if it was from embarrassment… or if he was actually blushing.

“Then why are you dodging it?” I pressed.

Kellan put down the bottle and sighed. “Why are you even asking me something like that?”

“Oh, I shouldn’t have asked? Or do you think that I don’t have the right to ask?” I dropped my fork, glaring at him now.

“No, no. Come on,” he said quickly. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just wasn’t expecting it, that’s all. It kind of came out of nowhere, and it felt a little… weird.”

“Weird?” I raised a brow at him, unimpressed. “Since when is talking about

“So what are you going to do to me now that you know the truth?” Dee asked, folding her arms tightly across her chest. “Are you going to report me to Lucian? Or maybe you’ll punish me yourself?”I felt my stomach twist. Wait—what?Kellan didn’t respond immediately. I could see him standing there, silent, his jaw clenched like he was holding back everything he wanted to say. Then he finally spoke. “Why did you lie, Dee?” His voice was low and sounded disappointed. “Do you know how much harm you’ve caused? How much damage this could bring?”“What harm?” she scoffed. “This is just a wake-up call, Kellan. A reminder that you can’t trust that girl. I’m trying to protect the pack, protect you and you’re acting like I committed a crime.”I covered my mouth with my hand, my breath shallow. She admitted it. She actually admitted she lied but what hit me even harder was how calm Kellan looked. There was no anger, no rejection. Just a chill look and calmnes. Then Dee stepped closer to him, her

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about, Seraya,” Kellan said, exhaling in frustration. “Do you know how long I’ve known Dee? There’s no way she’d have feelings for me and I wouldn’t know. She’s never said a thing. We’ve never even had a conversation that hinted at that. She has never also looked at me in that way.”I blinked slowly, stunned. “So you’re calling me a liar now? Is that it? You think I’m just cooking up nonsense because I enjoy drama?”“That’s not what I’m saying—”“Don’t lie to me!” I snapped, my voice rising. “I see it all over your face. You didn’t believe me from the start, and you still don’t. You’re looking at me like I’m nothing but trouble. Like I’m some crazy, unstable outsider who came into your pack just to cause problems!”Kellan’s jaw clenched. “Seraya, stop. I’m trying to understand, okay? I’m trying not to lose my temper. This entire thing… it’s a mess but if you would just apologize to Dee, we could move past this. It doesn’t have to go further.”I

“You laid your hands on a pack member while the Alpha was present in the pack house,” Lucian said, his voice low but firm. The calmness in his tone didn’t hide the warning beneath it, it was almost threatening. “That’s a serious offense, Seraya abd considering your condition, I expected better judgment from you.”My chest tightened as I glared at him. “You weren’t there!” I snapped, my voice rising with frustration. “None of you were! You didn’t hear the disgusting things she said to me. She provoked me and slapped me first. I didn’t just wake up and decide to attack her!”Kellan slowly turned to face me, inhaling deeply like he was trying to calm himself down. “You should have waited for me, Seraya. You could’ve told me what happened instead of resorting to violence. You should’ve trusted me to handle it.”I blinked in disbelief, my heart aching at his words. “Are you listening to yourself right now, Kellan?” I asked, my voice trembling. “I should’ve just stood there and let her hit

My fist hung in the air, frozen mid-swing, as I stood over Dee. My chest rose and fell in harsh pants with blood dripping from the corner of my lip. My hands trembled with anger and adrenaline. I turned slowly toward the doorway, my heart pounding harder when I saw who was standing there.Lucian and right behind him was Kellan. Both of them stood frozen, their eyes scanning the room. Their expressions were unreadable, like they were still trying to make sense of what they were seeing. Then Dee suddenly burst into tears. Loud, dramatic sobs filled the room as she cried out, “Please help me! She attacked me! She said she was going to kill me, please, someone stop her before she does!”I turned to her, stunned, my eyes wide in disbelief. What the hell was she doing? Was she really trying to make herself the victim? When she slapped me first, when she was the one that started this.My jaw clenched, rage flaring inside me again. I wanted to launch at her, to shut her up before she twist

“Kellan has been mine long before you ever stepped into this pack,” Dee sneered, her voice bitter. “He used to check up on me, care about me, do everything a male would do for the girl he likes. Everything was fine and perfect, not until you came along, spreading your legs and ruining it all.”My blood boiled, but I kept my face calm, mocking her. “Wow,” I said with a slow smile, “you really think what you had with him meant something? That’s adorable. Maybe he was just being nice to you, doing beta duties, and you thought it meant love. That’s very sad.”Her eyes widened with rage.“I’m not like the other girls he’s slept with,” I added coldly. “And as long as you’re not one of them, I don’t care who he’s been with. That’s his past, just like you.”I didn’t even see Dee’s hand coming and she slapped me. The slap hit me so hard that I saw stars. My head snapped to the side, and pain exploded through my jaw. My mouth was also filled with blood. She used her wolf strength to slap me.

I flopped back onto the bed with a long sigh, my thoughts swirling around what might be going on between Kellan and Lucian. There was clearly bad blood between them, but how it played out would depend on how Kellan handled things.Still, now wasn’t the time for them to be fighting. If Kaden ever found out I was here, with his baby, there could be real trouble. Kellan and Lucian would need to stand together for what was coming. But I didn’t want to stress over that now. All I wanted was to enjoy the peace I had with Kellan while it lasted. Things had been so good between us recently that I hadn’t even been thinking about Lucian or what he had done. In fact, I didn’t care anymore.I shifted under the blanket, trying to get some rest before Kellan returned. I wasn’t in the mood to leave the room, and everything we had done from last night till this morning had left me tired. My eyes were heavy, and I could already feel myself getting sleepy. Just then, the door opened. “That was fast,
