Kellan didn’t just clean me up, he got into the tub with me and cleaned himself too. I told him to let me out before he came in but he declined and sure I couldn’t escape and even if I wanted to. It wasn’t like I could leave anyway. My leg still hurt, and I wasn’t ready to put my weight on it yet.

He gently cleaned me up again after he was done and every now and then, we shared quick kisses between small laughs. When we were done, he lifted me out of the tub and carried me to sit on the slab near the sink. Then he bent down, opened a cabinet underneath, and pulled out a hair dryer.

“There’s a hair dryer here?” I asked, raising my brows in surprise.

Kellan glanced at me as he plugged it in. “Yeah. Why does that surprise you?”

“I mean… this is a hospital,” I said. “It just feels strange. Who puts a hair dryer in a hospital bathroom?”

“Someone who wants patients to feel a little normal,” he replied, testing the dryer to make sure it worked. “If a patient can’t use it, a nurse or visitor

I let out a loud scream as I was dragged out of the bed with so much force. My hands flew straight to my belly to protect it as I hit the ground hard. My body ached instantly, and my heart raced as I looked up quickly to see who had done it and when I saw the person, my whole body froze. It was Kaden. He looked furious. His eyes were dark and wild, and I could feel the anger rolling off him like heat. I stood up quickly, probably because of the shock. My legs shook beneath me, but I stayed on my feet. What was he doing here? How did he even get into this room? No one was supposed to know I was here. How did he find me?I didn’t say a word. I couldn’t. I just stared at him, fear filling every part of me. My breath got stuck in my throat.“So this is where you’ve been hiding all this time, huh?” He said coldly, walking slowly toward me.I backed away with each step he took forward. The look on his face, it scared me. I had never seen him this angry before. From the way he had pulled me

I woke up with a sudden gasp, breathing hard as my eyes darted around the room. My heart was racing and the last thing I remembered was blacking out in the woods after talking with Kellan. My body still felt heavy, but my mind was slowly catching up to everything that happened. I looked around the room carefully and it didn’t take long to realize that I wasn’t in the same hospital room I was used to. This place was smaller, it had less space and everything felt tighter around me. It wasn’t my usual room at all. Then I remembered, the last room was a mess because of the fight with Dee. That’s probably why they moved me.Dee.The name alone made my chest burn with anger. That witch. I’ve never met anyone like her in my life so evil, cruel, and a liar. She had everyone fooled, even Kellan. I hate her so much. I let out a long sigh and slowly pushed myself up, sitting on the edge of the bed and that was when I noticed my legs. They were both bandaged and cleaned. One ankle was wrapped t

Dee said she was going to find Kaden,” Kellan said, his voice quiet. “She said she’d tell him you were here.”My breath hitched in my throat. “What…?”“She said she’d tell him everything,” he added, staring straight at me. “Where you were. What condition you’re in and the fact that you’re pregnant and knowing Dee, she wouldn’t just tell him, you know she’d make it a scene. She’d make it ugly and I know that you’re not ready to face him. You don’t even want to see him.”I stood still in shock, my chest rising and falling quickly as my mind tried to catch up.“You think I would’ve let her walk away if it wasn’t for that?” he said bitterly. “Do you think I wanted to stand there and lie for her? Protect her, when she’s the one who hurt you? But what choice did I have? If she exposed you to your mate… who knows what would happen?”My lips trembled, but I couldn’t form words.“You don’t know Dee like I do,” he muttered. “She doesn’t bluff. When she threatens, she follows through and I could

I didn’t hear Kellan’s voice again. There was no more shouting and I couldn’t hear his footsteps behind me. It was just silence and the pounding of my heart.I slowed down after a while, breath ragged with my chest on fire, the trees blurring around me through my tears. I looked over my shoulder one last time, hoping, no, fearing that I’d see him there but the woods were empty.Good, I thought bitterly. He didn’t follow me, more like he chose not to. My legs moved on their own, numb and shaky. I didn’t know how far I had run or if I was still in the pack’s territory. I just knew I had to go far away from here. I turned forward again and slammed into something, no someone. “Ah!” I gasped as my body was yanked forward by the sudden force. My knees buckled and I lost my footing completely, but strong arms wrapped around me before I could hit the ground.“I’ve got you,” a low and deep voice said. I looked up and blinked, I was also dazed and confused. My breathing was uneven and tears

“So what are you going to do to me now that you know the truth?” Dee asked, folding her arms tightly across her chest. “Are you going to report me to Lucian? Or maybe you’ll punish me yourself?”I felt my stomach twist. Wait—what?Kellan didn’t respond immediately. I could see him standing there, silent, his jaw clenched like he was holding back everything he wanted to say. Then he finally spoke. “Why did you lie, Dee?” His voice was low and sounded disappointed. “Do you know how much harm you’ve caused? How much damage this could bring?”“What harm?” she scoffed. “This is just a wake-up call, Kellan. A reminder that you can’t trust that girl. I’m trying to protect the pack, protect you and you’re acting like I committed a crime.”I covered my mouth with my hand, my breath shallow. She admitted it. She actually admitted she lied but what hit me even harder was how calm Kellan looked. There was no anger, no rejection. Just a chill look and calmnes. Then Dee stepped closer to him, her

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about, Seraya,” Kellan said, exhaling in frustration. “Do you know how long I’ve known Dee? There’s no way she’d have feelings for me and I wouldn’t know. She’s never said a thing. We’ve never even had a conversation that hinted at that. She has never also looked at me in that way.”I blinked slowly, stunned. “So you’re calling me a liar now? Is that it? You think I’m just cooking up nonsense because I enjoy drama?”“That’s not what I’m saying—”“Don’t lie to me!” I snapped, my voice rising. “I see it all over your face. You didn’t believe me from the start, and you still don’t. You’re looking at me like I’m nothing but trouble. Like I’m some crazy, unstable outsider who came into your pack just to cause problems!”Kellan’s jaw clenched. “Seraya, stop. I’m trying to understand, okay? I’m trying not to lose my temper. This entire thing… it’s a mess but if you would just apologize to Dee, we could move past this. It doesn’t have to go further.”I
