Chapter 97

I walked back to the house slowly. My legs felt sore and my back ached from all the running. I was breathing hard, and my heart was still beating fast from the fear and stress.

Everything around me was quiet now, but I still felt nervous. I kept looking over my shoulder, checking behind me every few seconds just to be sure no one was following me.

At one point, I paused because suddenly, the trees looked the same and the path I had followed didn’t look familiar anymore. For a minute, I was scared that I had lost my way or had gotten lost in the forest.

I was about to start panicking but I talked to myself, trying to keep myself calm. Panicking won’t solve anything. I closed my eyes and took a couple of deep breaths till I felt myself relax, then I looked around carefully, trying to remember the direction I came from.
