The day seemed brighter as Alex moved through his duties with a lightness in his steps and a quiet smile tugging at his lips. Everything felt great, even the customers seemed kinder. But his eyes kept darting to the clock, counting down the hours like a teenager before prom. He had a date with his new boyfriend, James.
At exactly quarter to seven, Alex was already standing in front of Room 223 at the Kornelly Hotel. His heart thudded against his ribcage. He inhaled deeply, then exhaled slowly. “Okay, calm down. It's just James… or not just James, he is my boyfriend.” He smiled, raised his hand, and knocked. To his surprise, the door flung open almost instantly. “Hey, honey!” James beamed, his face lighting up like he had just won the lottery. Before Alex could say a word, James grabbed his hand and pulled him inside. The door slammed shut behind them as Alex stumbled forward, landing right into his arms. James held him tightly, inhaling his hair scent like he had missed it for real. “Hmm, apple blossom, smells so nice. Alex my darling,” he murmured into his ear, “I’ve missed you so much.” Then he gave him a soft peck on the cheek. The gesture made Alex's knees go weak as he chortled like a teenager. “Come,” James said, tugging him further into the room, “Dance with me.” “What?” Alex blinked shyly and in confusion. James chuckled as he picked up a remote and adjusted the volume slightly. Soft, romantic music played, slow, jazzy, and warm. “Come on,” he insisted, his arms already swaying, “This is a celebration, babe. Our first date as an official couple. Dance with me.” Before Alex could protest, James brushed his lips on his forehead, took both his hands, and began to guide him into a gentle sway. “You're mine now,” he whispered, “and I'm yours. I've waited for this moment, and tonight, I’m going to make every second count.” He pulled back slightly, just enough to gaze at Alex’s face. His eyes scanned him slowly, attentively, catching every twitch, every blush, every flicker of emotion. “You're really here with me,” James said softly, “you have no idea what your presence does to me, or do you?” Alex smiled shyly and nodded negatively as he managed to follow his lead with the dance. “Tell me, please”, he said almost in a whisper. James chuckled, “The fact is…I couldn't find the right word to express it. How about I show you, hmm?” Alex's heart pounded in his chest as James caressed his cheek, leaning in he kissed his nose bridge before claiming his lips in a passionate kiss. When he realized that Alex had lost it, he withdrew and stared at him. To be sure of his suspicion, he trailed his hands on his belly watching his actions. “Babe, you are driving me crazy. Tell me, what do you want?” James asked, his hand still moving around his chest making him tremble. “Oh James, I…I..”, he stuttered. James smiled and started unbuttoning Alex's shirt. The minute he took off his shirt, he tickled his tit with his tongue. Alex gasped and closed his eyes. “Come on, babe, say you want me to touch you,” James said as he started caressing him all over, especially his waistline. Alex was already short of words but could only nod his agreement as he took off James’s shirt. James led him on until he felt him shaky, wanting nothing else but his touch and saying nothing else except his name. Taking off the rest of their clothes, he led Alex to bed, doing to him what no one else had ever done, satisfying his every desire. Meanwhile, while Alex was busy enjoying every sensation, James was busy checking to ensure his plan was not compromised. Later, they had dinner together, toasted to their reunion, and went back to their room for another round. The next morning, Alex stirred awake, reaching instinctively for James, but the space beside him was empty. His heart skipped. Did he leave again? Panic began to creep in, until his eyes landed on a folded note on the table. “Good morning, love. I had to attend to something. Take the painkiller, it will relieve you of any ache. I’ll call you.” Alex exhaled in relief, a soft smile curling his lips. “Oh, James, if this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up.” He stretched, then winced suddenly. “Damn… my ass aches.” He chuckled under his breath and took the tablets. “Well, I guess I’ll get used to it.” After a quick shower, he ordered fresh clothes, got dressed, and headed straight to work, still floating in that blissful post-love haze. Everything went smoothly until lunch break. As he sat at his desk in the office, biting into his sandwich, and stirring a cold tea with a spoon, a message notification popped up. His heart leaped, he assumed it was James. He opened it casually but on seeing the content, he froze. It was them. A full-on nude photo of him and James…entangled, exposed, unmistakable. The spoon in his hand slipped and clattered to the floor. His phone followed. His entire body went cold. “No… no… James, you can't do this to me,” he whispered, his voice shaking. “Tell me this isn’t happening” He whispered to no one in particular. His heart ached, and fear gripped him as he started sweating profusely. He walked about the office in confusion. Then, suddenly, a knock came on the door. He froze again staring at the door. It came again and again, still he didn't move…didn’t speak, he just stared at the door as if whoever was there, was the devil behind his nightmare. There was quietness, but suddenly the door burst open. To Alex’s surprise, it was James. His eyes were blazing with anger as he matched in. The secretary apologized instantly, "I'm sorry, sir, he insisted on seeing you,” she explained. James jammed the door and faced him. “Alex, what is the meaning of this? Did everything we shared last night mean nothing to you? Everything you said to me, are they just empty words?. Did you say yes to me just for this, to expose my nudity? You're also in this. What will you gain” He paused as Alex didn't move. “Come on, stop staring and talk to me.” He walked closer as his expression changed. “Oh dear, did you take it for memories?” James paused and stared at Alex. “What the heck are you blabbing, James? You seriously think I took our nude photos without letting you know? How, when, are we not there together? Oh dear goodness, now it's getting scarier. I thought it was your doing.” “What? No, I didn't.” There was a tense pause. “The hotel, I'm going back to Kornelly. I need to see their footage.” Then, in that instant, a message popped up on James and Alex's phones at the same time. James opened his phone, and it was a short video of them making out on the bed with every sound they were making exposed. “Oh shit, it's another one. Who the heck is doing this? Did you tell anyone about our date? James asked him. “No, I didn't, not a soul” Instantly, James' phone buzzed. It was an unknown number. He stared from the phone to Alex, his hand shaking. “I don't have this number in my contacts,” James said, staring as if scared to pick up, but Alex took the phone from him, clicked the answer button, and put it on speaker. “Hello” “Hello, lover boys,” the distorted voice came through the speaker, smooth but laced with menace. “Now listen closely. The faster you pay, the better for you. I want ten million…cash. No games, no delays.” Alex and James froze, eyes locked on the phone as the voice continued. “Don’t do anything stupid. Don’t even think about investigating. You won’t find me. Every track is covered. I’m watching you. One wrong move from either of you, I’ll drop the first photo.” A chilling pause followed…then a dark chuckle. “Damn, you two were hot on that bed. Watching this video almost made me hard. But I need cash, you know? Enough to score me a sweet ride or maybe a sweet partner like you guys.” Another eerie laugh echoed. “Alright, boys, that’s enough chat for now. Start stacking my dough. I’ll call back tonight with pickup details. The clock’s ticking… tick tock… tick tock.” The line went dead…Silence. James cursed audibly. “Son of a bitch”Lucas slowly turned to face his father. “Oh, Dad. What are you doing here?” “I just ask you the same question. This isn’t the way to your office.” “Come on Dad, I know that. It’s just that…well, there’s this girl I’m interested in, and I was trying to talk to her.” His father’s face lit up. “Trying to make her your girlfriend? I like that.” His father exclaimed happily. “Now, you're following. Good job, just let me know if you need my expert advice with that, okay?” His father winked at him mischievously. Lucas nodded quickly, forcing a smile just as the person his father was waiting for stepped out of the nearby office. Lucas gave a casual wave and waited until they entered the man's car and drove into the main road. The moment they were out of sight, he rushed into the culinary program building. “Too close,” he muttered under his breath. *** Meanwhile, after two years, Alex had become the owner of four extra branches of McBen's eateries scattered across Atlant
A young guy in his mid-twenties stood there, a little breathless, as he gripped the handle tightly. He was in chef's clothes and a nose mask. His eyes darted from Alex’s face to the knife, then back. Fear flashed across his features, but he didn’t move. “You should be using that knife to enjoy those juicy apples…” the guy said with a shaky smile, “…not staring at it like it’s your way out.” There was a beat of silence. Alex blinked, stunned, as the tension in the room paused…just for a second. The young guy took a step further in, heart pounding, ready to scream for help if Alex made the slightest wrong move… but hoping, praying, he wouldn’t have to. Alex shot the guy a cold glare. “Get the hell out. No one asked for your help.” The guy stood firm. “Yeah? Well, I’m asking for yours. Help me by staying alive. My grandmother’s in the ICU, barely holding on, and she’s still fighting. Meanwhile, you’ve got your whole life ahead of you, and you're about to throw it away? Doe
Alex’s eyes widened, his voice trembling. “Ja…James? Is that you?” A cold chill shot through his body, goosebumps rising instantly. A sharp gasp echoed from the other end. “Oh shit,” James muttered. Then the line went dead. “No… no, this can’t be happening.” Alex’s fingers shook as he checked the number again. It was the blackmailer’s. The same number. His heart dropped. Frantically, he redialed. It rang…once, twice…no answer. He typed out a message: James, please tell me this isn’t what I’m thinking. He waited but no reply came. He slumped onto the couch, staring blankly. His thoughts spiraled. Was he the blackmailer all along? Did he really plant that camera? He called again…now the number was switched off. Alex’s chest tightened. “Did he just… use me again? Was it all fake? Good heavens, no… please no,” he whispered, tears pooling in his eyes as the truth began to crush him. A sudden knock on the door startled Alex. The door swung open and it was Jason, his you
“Oh my goodness, who the heck is doing this?” James gasped, stumbling back until he collapsed onto the couch. He buried his face in his hands, his voice shaking. “What the hell are we going to do now? Where the fuck are we supposed to get ten million from?” He shot to his feet again, pacing. “How did they even get a camera into that room? That’s supposed to be a premium suit!” Alex remained frozen, still trying to process the nightmare unfolding before him. James suddenly turned to him, eyes wide with realization. “Someone must’ve planted the camera before we checked in. Maybe after I made the booking. This is serious, Alex. We need to go to the police. Blackmail is a crime. We can’t sit on this.” He walked over and gripped Alex’s shoulders. “Please, my love, come with me. Let’s face this together. If that bastard wants to release our nude, let him. We’re two consenting adults. He’s the one invading our privacy, not the other way around.” But Alex didn’t move. He reache
