In a hurry, April approached the bar where her friend was serving the drinks. Adele worried at the mere instant she noticed that her friend was approaching in such a way. She didn’t look like the strong girl who was willing to face the whole world in order to get money for her son and make him live in the happiest way she can.
“What’s going on, April? Are you okay, darling?”
April sighed. She didn’t want to cry, she didn’t want to show her how fragile she was, she just wanted to face the world for her son as she’d always done. But if there was someone whom she couldn’t lie to, that was Adele.
“April, what’s going on?” Adele raised her voice a little.
April just shook her head.
“April, a bastard tried to do something to you?” Adele knew very well that if there was a way to mess up with her, it was by molesting her.
April shook her head again. “No, it’s nothing. It’s nothing, Adele.”
“Tell me what’s wrong and I swear I’lll kill that bastard who-”
“Adele!” A third voice shouted.
Adele rolled up her eyes and after sighed, she turned around. It was the manager who was calling her out.
“What now?”
“VIP zone requires your services. Three men want you to prepare the drinks.”
“I’m coming!”
“Now!”
Frustrated, Adele left the bar after giving her friend an apology look, and continued her way to the VIP zone. April noticed how Adele and the manager exchanged some words and then, both of them pointed at April. After that, Adele called April with a gesture. Innocently, April pointed at herself and Adele nodded.
“What?”
“Help me out.”
“Mmm?”
“I can’t take many bottles of liquor by myself. Help me out and I promise, you’re free to go. I know you don’t like the VIP zone.”
April hesitated a little. April didn’t like the VIP zone since the first and last time she was there, one of the clients tried to force her into something she didn’t want, arguing that all women who went there it was because they were prostitutes. Adele was good at preparing special drinks and she was also good at other things, and she also respected that her friend didn’t like those things.
“Let’s go, I won’t let anything happen to you.”
“Okay, but I’ll just leave the bottles and leave, okay?”
“Okay, let’s go.”
April and Adele took many liquor bottles and continued upstairs.

Watching his bar working as the others did, Lucian felt satisfaction. With his legs elegantly crossed, a drink in his right hand and his amber eyes watching the women down assisting the clients, he couldn’t help but look for the woman who showed not to be like the others. It was like she was working there by force, strange forces that no one could see. He wanted to know her name, he wanted to know what the hell was she doing there, but… He shouldn’t care about her! She was a worker there, no one was forcing her to be there, at least not his people. She could leave whenever she wanted. It was stupid to get offended by her own work.
Lucian just shook his head and continued when suddenly, one of the bodyguards came into the room and notified two women who were there to serve them drinks.
“Oh! Let them in!” One of the elderly men said before Lucian could answer.
The door opened five seconds after the bodyguard left and there they were. Two women wearing black skirts that perfectly delineated their butts, both wore red heels. The first woman came in with a tray with three bottles of liquor and six shots while the woman behind her was carrying another tray with three bottles of wine.
What was his surprise when he saw that the woman behind was the same one he had been thinking about for the last 5 minutes! He couldn’t believe it. He couldn’t even process that information and see her with indifference after all the things that he’d been thinking about her. Once again she was there, like a woman who didn’t feel comfortable wearing that uniform. Lucian couldn’t stop looking at her until she was able to raise her head and find the same man that had found her on the ground. April started shaking again. Her legs were about to give up on her.
“Come on in, come on in, sweet dolls!” The man said.
Adele approached the table and placed the tray, April did the same without raising her head again. What she’d seen had been enough. She just wanted to get the hell out of there. But Adele started laughing with both men as Lucian kept staring at April. Uncomfortable, April put her hands together in front of her as ready to receive any order.
All Lucian could see in her was perfectionism as he wondered the reason why she acted like that if she herself had chosen such a job. Lucian drank from his glass of wine without looking away. She’d enchanted him.
“You darling!” One of the men called April out. “Come, come here!”
April looked at her friend and Adele immediately tried to protect her friend. “Mr., happens that she’s not here to do anything else. She just helped me to bring the bottles.”
“Oh, really? Well, I think I was clear enough when I said I wanted two women to…. you know, and suddenly you two appear. What do you want me to expect?”
“But-” Adele tried to say.
“You, pour me a vodka!” The other man said. Lucian never said anything, he just observed.
April rushed to follow his order, thinking that he’d let her go after that. While April was preparing the vodka. This time she didn't care how sharp her angle was as she bent to pour the drink, she only cared about getting out of there intact. And this was the opportunity the three men took to look into her cleavage. The difference between Lucian and the look of the other three men was too different, while the two elderly men were looking at her morbidly, Lucian looked at her as the most erotic dream he had ever had. She was… desirable. It was a lie that the small breast wasn’t erotic, because this time Lucian was experiencing something way different.
April realized how the three men looked at her and she raised instantly. She was more uncomfortable than ever.
“I like her for me!” The elderly pointed at April.
“Mr., she doesn’t do that kinda works,” Adele continued.
The men looked at each other not believing those words and then they laughed hard. Lucian looked at them and then looked at April, she was uncomfortable. Maybe she indeed didn’t like that job, but there was something that had pushed her to take it. We never know.
“Oh, come on! She’s here and there’s no turning back-”
“She has said that she doesn’t do that kind of work!” Finally Lucian raised his voice.
Everything was silent. The other two men stopped laughing and just looked at Lucian. He was no longer the respectful man who appeared to do business. Suddenly, he seemed to be defending that woman. But why?
“You two can go,” Lucian ordered.
“But-” Adele tried to say.
“Go!” Lucian shouted.
April and Adele ran out of the VIP room. Now it was going to be time to deal with both men who were looking at him in a prejudiced manner. Lucian, as the Son of Hades he was, was ready to fight them until they could get into their heads that not all women who worked there could be forced to do what they wanted. But the stranger part was, why did he keep defending that woman? Who was she for him? Come on! She was no one!
“Oh, I understand, that’s your girl, right?”
He sighed in frustration.
The man laughed again. “You should’ve said it earlier. I’m sorry, I’m sorry, Son of Hades!”
There was no reason to fight them. In the end, she was nothing more than a worker there. Lucian got up from his seat and walked towards the door, erasing the smiles of the men.
“Hey, Son of Hades! Are we not going to talk about business? Come on! You shouldn’t act like that. I’m not gonna touch your girl, I swear!”
Lucian just looked at them before leaving and said, “I’m not sure if I want to cooperate with you. Have a good night.” Then, he left.
When the manager saw Lucian leaving, he got worried and ran up to him. “Mr. Sadharthe, is everything okay?”
“Need the sexiest woman you have hired. Tell her I’ll be waiting for her at my hotel. Tonight!” Then, Lucian left, leaving the manager speechless. Not that he had been surprised by the request, for he knew that Lucian, the Son of Hades, was well known for the women he had a good time with, but he was surprised because of his lack of words. He hadn’t said anything about the bar or what he thought about it. He just asked a woman for the night and nothing else.
ONE YEAR LATER A year was gone in a way so different from what everyone involved knew. So much had happened and to narrate them all was to narrate how life had gone in one year. After Leona was captured by the DEA, several powerful drug trafficking networks also fell. Lucian was taken to the hospital the same way Adel was, there was time to talk about so many things that April still couldn't believe that life had turned out that way. Rose and Levi took the case forward, after Lucian recovered from the beating and the two broken ribs that Leona's men had caused by beating him so badly, he was able to testify along with April, the woman he loved so much. He also accepted his guilt and cooperated with the police in every way he could. Levi and Rose knew what their job was, they also had to proceed with Lucian and April because they too had made many mistakes. Adel also talked about the bad things Leona did. While she was in the hospital as well, outside the police were moving to make he
April started crying in desperation. Her heart had never hurt like that. It was her son who was in the power of that woman. Her son was all she had. “Please, please, Leona, please, don’t you dare to do anything bad to my son. Please, I’m begging you. He’s not guilty! Your problem is with me! Leave him alone!” April begged with a broken voice. Rose and Levi knew the worst was coming, so they rushed to call the police. It was the end. “If you want to see your son alive and say goodbye to your eternal love, come to this address, alone! I swear if you don’t come alone, I’ll kill your fucking bastard!” After saying so, Leona hung up. April yelled, pleaded, but Leona’s voice was no longer heard on the other line. Levi and Rose called the police. They were ready to attack and now they could clearly see that what they had fought for, what they had invested so many hours, so much effort, so many thoughts, was right in front of their eyes. One of the biggest drug trafficking networks was go
When Lucian learned he wasn’t going to any mansion as the three men had said to make him get into the van, it was too late. The darkness of the highway, the mystery of the place and everything as a whole made him realize that they were not going to the house of any mafia boss, but to the outskirts of the city. It was too late. He had no way to run. He couldn’t. His heart started pumping faster. He tried to get off the van, but two men grabbed him immediately, they started fighting with him, they punched him, kicked him, insulted him… But Lucian still fought. Many things ran through her head, but it was always April the protagonist. He didn’t want her to go through more pain. “Leave me alone, you fucking bastards!” Lucian said, trying to punch the men, but he was out of energy that he couldn’t do so much. The pain had dried out his energy. “You won’t go anywhere! Our lady was clear with her instructions. You will regret what you did to her!” One of the men said. Lucian kept fighting,
April was completely heartbroken that her logic didn’t work. No matter how loud her heart kept shouting at her that what Levi was doing with her wasn’t okay, she didn’t have the strength to push him away, she just stayed there, where she was feeling the coldest kiss she’d ever felt. April had no soul, no more love to give, no more hope to keep, no more happiness to hold. Lucian had taken everything with him. Lucian wasn’t any different, he was like any other man ready to stab the heart of a woman who’d just learned to love someone like him. Perhaps, that was the reason why she couldn’t do anything and didn’t want to. If allowing Levi to do that was going to bring her back a little bit of hope, she was willing to be his slave. But what April didn’t know was that she wasn’t the only one who had been betrayed or who was feeling the coldness of absence. In the depths of his coldness and darkness he’d rose; he had no hope, no love to offer, he had nothing aside from chests full of gold c
NEW ZEALANDThrowing the suitcases in the car trunk, Adel forced his sons to get into the car. Neither Mateo nor Lucas understood what was happening there. Suddenly, Lucas’ father changed his mood when he saw a mark on his friend’s back head. Lucas didn’t understand anything. His father was asking questions to Mateo, not many times Lucas had seen him like that, the last time something like that happened was when Adel was still with Leona, Lucas’ mother. They always fought, he always saw them arguing, the servants were there to try to cover up things but Lucas was always more intelligent than anyone to know that his parents didn’t enjoy each other’s company. Maybe that was one of the reasons Lucas never felt sad when Adel told him that Leona and him weren’t going to live together anymore. And now they were in that car, listening to the conversation Adel was having with the airline.Lucas and Mateo looked at each other. “Three tickets to California, United States! I don’t care if the
As Madeline descended to the first floor of the hotel, still with tears in her eyes and her spirits on the floor, her path was blocked by someone's feminine figure. Madeline looked up and realized that the woman looking down at her with a smile of triumph was the same woman who had taken everything from her.“Madeline! Or should I say… April?”April changed her posture and her gaze. She hated Leona, she hated her with all her might. She had caused her the worst pain, but April wasn't the same innocent and naive girl Adel and Leona knew, and Leona was going to be the first one to see it. April didn’t know why but it was always because of Leona that she couldn’t be happy. She didn’t owe anything to anyone, but life treated her as she would. What a small world was that where Leona was the real meaning of her downfall! But Madeline no longer feared her. Years had gone by saving those hard feelings she felt towards her, and now it was time to let her see her fury. She was going to rip o
