"Please, call me Zaire."

Zaire placed his right hand in the small of Lana's back she tried to lead her away to his car, and away from the rain.

The car was sitting in the rain, a gleaming Bentley, and the driver stood outside, taking shade under a black umbrella while waiting for them to approach, so he can open the door for them.

Lana stopped and stared into Zaire's eyes. His green eyes held a light that bespoke kindness, and there was a gentleness behind his touch.

He had told her to call him,"Zaire" thereby putting them on a first name basis. Lana stared at him, unsure if she wanted to venture into this new path.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, indicating the huge gates behind her which signified the Romero's Reign Estates. "Did you come to call on the family?."

Zaire smiled, showing perfect white teeth,

Chapter Two Hundred And Fifty-FiveAryan's hand remained in its position, glaring at her coldly for a long moment. His eyes were still burning and he had no time for her shenanigans, especially when she was the one who sprayed his face.Fury bloomed in him once more and his fingers flexed around the revolver, "You expect me to believe shit like that?" He growled, "We clean up after ourselves, Maya. You think you're the only one we work with? You think we are foolish enough to leave loose ends?!""Yes," Maya said simply, shrugging her shoulder in a haughty manner.Aryan blinked and the other goons could not believe their ears."You must seriously have a death wish," Aryan sputtered at her, unable to control his rage, "You dare to think we are at your mercy?!""Yes, you are," Maya replied, folding her arms over her chest confidently, "I told you, I have the evidence. You know me, Aryan but you must have underestimated me. Why on earth do you think I wouldn't protect myself?""I can ju

  • UNFORGETTABLE EX-WIFE: The Billionaire's Regret   The Text

Chapter Two Hundred And Fifty TwoMaya shoots him a dirty look. She quickly scooped up the scattered medical supplies and got ready to tend to Noah's wounds. Sulking, Vanny retired to a corner and watched them with brooding eyes. He could not understand why Maya was jeopardizing herself doing something like this."She must think she is untouchable," he mused to himself, his eyes watching her careful movements over Noah.Truth be told, Maya was the only one who did not feel the need to break away and escape from Scar. She was the one who set up the operation, meaning she had direct contact with Scar's men. That must be why she thinks nothing can ever harm her. Maya was oblivious to his brooding thoughts. She was very much focused on cleaning Noah's wounds so they would not fester or get infected. She was glad he was not dead and she knew this because he stirred and groaned repeatedly. She worked quickly but gently, making sure he was not in pain. However, that was inevitable consid

Chapter Two Hundred And Fifty-OneThe duo stared at Noah lying on the floor in horror, his color turning ashen immediately. "Quick! Help me take him to the basement!" Maya ordered, as she bent over Noah. Her heartbeat spiked as she watched his pale face.He was lying so still.Surely...Surely, he wasn't dead. She glanced up at Vanny who still stood aside, scratching his head helplessly. Irritation flooded her at the sight, "Don't just stand there looking all foolish!" She barked, "Get the basement door at once!"Vanny jumped, then scowled at her. He went towards the right corner of the room, pulling out a set of keys from his pocket.Maya stayed back, still bent over Noah and her expression increasingly worried, "He can't die. He's not dead yet." She muttered to herself as she tried to turn him over. Noah didn't even budge. Man was like a freaking tree, "After everything I've done for him. I have to get a reward. I will only be satisfied when you pay me back, Noah. Till then. You ca

Chapter Two Hundred And FiftyThe two moved down the alleyway and into another much darker one. There was a lone door in the rough wall, above which an electric bulb flickered ominously.Maya carefully rapped on the door, and the two waited in silence, their hearts beating wildly in them.Noah was getting more and more dizzy. He leaned against the wall and eventually his head on it as he fought against the pain wracking his entire body. Maya rapped on the door once more, sharper this time."Vanny, open the freaking door. Its me, Maya." She hissed silently, the words resounding in the dark alleyway. After a couple of moments of silence, the locks on the door could be heard as they were drawn aside. A chain was let down and the door creaked slowly open, just a crack.Vanny was standing just behind the door, silhouetted against the dim light in the room.He had only opened the door a little way out of caution, and some locks were still intact."What the fuck are you doing here?" He grow
