PENKILL

“Calm down Elvira. Sit here.” She ordered and let me sit on the couch.

I took a deep breath and I tried to keep myself calm as soon as possible.

“Imma get a water.” She said as she walk off into kitchen.

I couldn't believed that I had a dream like that. For my 17 years of living, I hadn't been experience something like that.

If I told Elisa everything, I'm sure she will going to say it's just a dream. However, If I told her that the guy has a strange appearance, she will definitely say that it's a vampire and make a fuss about it.

Come to think of it again, I didn't even had a chance to know his freaking name. Whatever. It'll be just useless when I know his name but not his outward form since he hid it by wearing black cap and jacket.

I feel strange and uncomfortable somehow because of that shitty.

“Here.” She said and handed me one glass of water.

I wouldn't have even noticed her if she hadn't spoken yet.

After I drank it, she took it from me and put it aside.

“Are you okay? What happened to you? You sweat a lot and you look so anxious. It doesn't seem like you Elvira.” She mentioned.

Is it okay If I told her everything I saw? Especially that guy?

Even so, it's just a dream. Dream will never come into life. It's better If I just don't give shit about it until I completely forgot that.

“N.. nothing. Just a nightmare.” I answered and force myself to laugh.

When she laugh back, I get relieved knowing that I had convinced her.

“it's like I exchanged my dream with you today. Isn't that what I've always dreamed of?” She stated.

Oh yeah. I always got a sleepless night because of her.

“But look, I slept soundly this time. Not until I heard you called out my name earlier so I woke up.” She said.

I called her name?

I remember that I did called her number.

“I woke you up a countless of time and you still lying there that's why I got impatient. So I yelled your name and boom! You did woke up HAHAHA. Sorry buddy.” She added.

“Thanks. I never thought that you were useful in my life.” I joked.

She slap my back. “You're so mean! I regretted waking you up! So ungrateful.” She uttered.

“By the way, will you tell me your dream. Is it super inten—” I cut her words.

“NO.” I refused.

“Hey! I always tell you my dream!” She mentioned.

“I didn't instructed you to tell me tho. You always said on your own.” I protest.

She mumbled her words that's why I couldn't hear her.

I better changed the topic.

“Have you decided where to enroll this year?” I asked.

“Yep.” She answered as she nodded.

“Where?”

“Aille University.” She replied.

Where I'm also enrolled?

“I thought you were going to move out with your parents?” I asked to be clarify.

Astonishment enveloped into my eye's while I watch her pretended to be hurt.

“That hurts gurl. Why do you want me to leave right away? Because of what you said, I am even more reluctant to leave your side. Mph!” She stated as she cross her both arms.

Seriously?

I slapped her back. “You're so childish! I just said it since I was curious. So don't overreacted over that small words and just explain everything to me.” I scolded her.

It's not like she's going to listen anyway. Elisa's personality is stressing actually.

Sometimes, she's childish but serious at the short time.

“Tsh. You know I can't leave you here alone. Besides, if I move and enroll into another university, I won't find a friend like you.” She answered.

As expected.

We've been friends since high school so it's difficult for us to be apart. If I said that I won't miss her, I just lied to myself.

“So you're going to stay here and watch your parents to leave you? Is that okay with you?” I asked.

“Ofc it's not that easy to decide!” She yelled.

I really don't understand this woman.

“Then why you're choosing to stay here? If our friendship is the reason of your hesitation, you don't have to push yourself that hard just to keep ourselves in touch. You know, there's a lot of way for us to communicate. Like texting.” I said.

I want to comfort and give her my advice.

Ofc I also don't want for her to leave but I can't be so selfish to follow my desire.

A true friend will always choose the best path for it's friend.

She placed her chin on her knee as she explained her reason.

“I thought about it a lot over and over again. I always ask myself that 'thing' in many different ways. And I always got the same answer, that I wanted to stay by your side. Why? Because you are the only person who has been special in my life apart from my parents.” She said.

I can feel the sincerity in her voice and I felt like this person will be my friend forever.

It's just same goes for me. She's the only person I've met who stayed and did not leave me no matter what.

For me, friendship is the most important thing that exists in my life more than my family. Or should I just call that 'family' as nobody? It's not like they're treat me as one tho.

“Thanks Elisa. I promise I won't also leave you. I'll be loyal just like you are to me. I may not be the sweetest person in this world, but I can protect our friendship.” I said and hugged her.

We stayed like that in 10 minutes straight.

At this moment, we can feel our trust to each other as we hugged so tightly.

“So are we just going to stay like this tonight? We have to wake up tomorrow morning to enroll. Let go ugly!” I teased.

And just like that, she laughed.

We need to wake up early tomorrow to be able to enroll on time. And of course, I will also pay a visit at the church to greet my sister's who took care of me when I was a child after my parents lost me way back 11 year's ago.

I was so scared back then.

I don't know what I was supposed to do and where should I go just to find my parents.

I can't remember the place my parents and I went because I was young back then.

Until my feet carried me into the church where sister bella found me.

When I first saw her, I immediately stopped from crying and calmed down.

“What're you doing here, child?”

That's the first words she spoke If I'm not mistaken.

I don't know why but I hung on her legs.

“Oh. Are you lost?” Her soft voice made my fears to go away.

I nodded as my response.

“What is your name, child?” She asked again.

Am I safe now?

I hope mom and dad will find me as soon as possible. I don't want to be apart from them.

They'd promise to me that they'll buy me my ice cream after I play.

“My name is Elvira.” I answered.

She knelt down for her height to match mine and she smiled.

I'm surprised after she gently lift my chin and made me look at her beam eye's.

“Elvira.”

Her angelic voice is addicting. I haven't heard a beautiful voice like that.

She must be an angel? Like from what I've seen in fairytale.

“Don't worry. You're on the right hand. I'll take care of you until we found your parents, okay Elvira?” She said.

I trusted her so I slowly nodded my head.

“What a good child you are.” she chuckle.

Really? Am I really a good child?

No one ever compliment me including my parents.

Even If I sing infront of them, draw them, and achieved the first spot at school, they still don't like me.

I thought there's something wrong with me that they dislike.

“Come with me.” She handled me her hand.

I look at it and I placed my hand on her.

It's soft.

After we get inside the church, there's a few people who appeared before us.

Because of their glare, I started to feel uncomfortable so I hid behind her.

“Haha. Don't be scared. They're just like me. Serving our god is our own will.” She stated.

I slowly approach them because of her words.

But what should I call her?

I pulled on the end of her dress so I catched her attention.

“What is it Elvira?”

“H, how should I address you?” I asked, feeling shy.

She pat my head. “You can call me, sister bella.” She replied.

I smiled.

“Sister bella.”

That's how I met her and the others sister's. They treated me like I'm so special.

They fed me. They bath me. They took care of me. That's why I'm so grateful for them.

But I didn't stay long in their place either because my parents took me away after three months passed.

Are you wondering why it took a months before I was returned to my parents? I was also surprised at first.

Until I found out that they meant to leave me alone and let me wander down the road.

Yes. They are so heartless to let a pitiful child wander around the streets, feelin' scared.

But what else can I do? even if I contribute or get angry with them, they still don't care.

Whatever. I'm supposed to used to it I guess.

“I hope tomorrow will be better.” I said as I slowly falling asleep.

IT'S SUNDAY.

I and Elisa decided to not take a bus and just walk instead since we're saving some money.

Besides, we can enjoy wandering around.

There's a lot of people here in the streets.

Sunday was used to be my favorite day when I was a kid, and now—

It's still the same HAHA.

“Elvira, look.” She called me out and pointed at the man who sell ice cream.

Yep. It's her favorite.

“Let's buy some.” She said and her attention are still on the ice cream.

She seem hungry even when we just done eating earlier.

“It's still morning. And keep in mind that we're going to be late if we don't walk more faster.” I said.

“What? Come on gurl.” She plead.

Later on, I don't have a choice but to agree.

We're just going to waste our time if we argue more.

“Just make it faster.” I stated.

“Okay! Wait me here, okay?” she seem happy.

Uh. This girl.

When she was gone, I sat down to one side. It's tiring to wait standing.

I feel bothered because of the person I'm sitting with.

That grandma with a red clothes.

She has been looking at me for so long. Is there something on my face?

“Excuse me grandma. But is there something on my face thats why you keep staring at me?” I asked politely.

She did not answer and remained silent.

She looked at me as if she was observing every corner of my body.

Wait? Maybe grandma was a perve—

No! Omayghad Elvira! What are you thinking?! Stupid self.

“Grandma?" I said to get her attention.

She looked at me with her deadful glare. “Disgusting.” She said as she stand up and turn her back to set off.

But why? Disgusting?

I don't remember doing something to her that can make her say that words to me.

I am being polite. What's wrong in this world!

I heard something fall from the old lady so I immediately turned around.

A pencil?

I quickly picked it up. “Grandma you left your...”

I glance around to look for the old lady when she suddenly disappeared in front of me.

She's standing there a while ago. How is it possible for her to leave that fast?

And besides, why the hell she has this? A pencil with an old lady?

“It has a weird design, huh.” I said as I stared at it.

Maybe I just leave this here. I don't need it anyway—

“Elvira! Come on! We're going to be late!” I heard Elisa's yelled so I ran into her.

“I told you to make it fast and yet you took a 10 minutes just to buy a piece of ice cream?” I mentioned.

She hugged me. “Lets just go, okay?”

Whatever.

But how about this pencil?

“I'll just put it in my pocket. I might need it next time.” I whispered.

And unbothered put the thing inside my pocket.
