CHAPTER 5

HEAVEN

"It's time to leave, right?" I asked as Jenna strolled into my office. It was evening already and I was already so tired, all I needed was to go home and see my kids. They were like my energy booster. I was really grateful that they came into my life when it was the darkest.

Just like my biological family also came into my life when I was filled with confusion and darkness, the divorce had been a blessing in disguise.

"Yeah, but before that, the lawyer is here," she announced and my brows shot up in realisation. I had totally forgotten about that.

"Let him in."

Jenna made her way out and soon returned with Ethan, the company's lawyer. Luckily, I had found out he was a multi practice lawyer so it was easy to get him on board with my plans.

"Hi, Ethan," I greeted with a small smile as I rose to my feet.

"Hi Heaven." He flashed me a smile as I pointed at the sofa.

We both took our seats and I glanced at Jenna who was standing beside Ethan's chair.

"I brought the final draft," he announced and I shared a look with Jenna in excitement. That was literally the best news of the day. I've been waiting for this news for the past years.

As soon as he handed me the final draft, I skimmed through it, my fingers tightening around the sleek leather of my chair. Thankfully, no correction was required anymore. Everything was in place. Every single clause, every demand.

Atlas Belmont doesn't know what was coming for me. He had walked away from our marriage by humiliating me as if I was nothing but a business deal gone bad. Now, he was going to pay.

"You’re sure about this?" Ethan asked, watching me closely.

"Absolutely." I slid the papers back to him, meeting his gaze. "He forced me out without proper settlement, without negotiation. He thought I’d just disappear, but I’m not that woman anymore. File it today."

Ethan gave me a firm nod before gathering the documents into his briefcase. "He’ll fight this, you know."

Of course he will but I know his business has been suffering lately. Actually, credit to myself, their business has been suffering ever since I took over at Vallore.

"Let him." A smirk curled at my lips. "I’ve been waiting for this moment for years."

I can't wait for Atlas shock. I mean, he would have never expected me to do something like this. I had always been the caring and sweet lady but now he had to dance to his tune.

"This is great news," Jenna started once Ethan was out of my office.

"I know, right."

"I'm happy for you." She winked at me and I chuckled.

"It's time to go home," I announced as I walked back to my table and picked up my things. Soon, we were out of the company.

"See you tomorrow." Jenna waved at me as she headed to her car.

"Extend my greetings to Brad."

Brad was Jenna's boyfriend and they've been living together ever since.

I got into my car and decided to stop over at a store to get some things for my kids.

As I walked into the store, I bumped hard into someone. Thankfully, we both didn't fall.

"What the hell?" The person shouted while I dusted off the dirts on my pants.

Raising my head, my eyes widened at the sight of Amanda. She had the same expression but it was soon replaced by a twisted face.

"Are you blind?" She yelled.

"I should ask you the same. We both bumped into each other," I replied and she let out a scoff. To think I've always considered Amanda as a friend back then, I always let her in on everything going on between Atlas and I since I trusted her so much not knowing it was her plan to keep any suspicions of off herself. I should have known their friendship wasn't platonic but that doesn't matter anymore.

"Of course, you won't accept your fault. I wonder who let you into this store," she snapped, rolling her eyes and I let out a huff.

"You seem to forget I'm no longer the poor and pitiful Heaven," I retorted then she clapped.

"That's true. I guess you can never wash off the poverty from your body. You still look as poor as ever even though you've been sleeping your way all through the ladder all these years. Some people just need to accept that no matter what, they can't compare," she snarled in a mocking tone as her eyes raked over me.

I huffed.

"Well since you're that rich, I guess you'll have to compensate for ruining my pants," I replied, pointing at the stain on my pants. When we bumped into each other, she had spilled her coffee on me.

She rolled her eyes.

"You must be high on something if you think I'll compensate for this. Yeah, it's luxurious but you make it look so cheap," she spat and a smirk curved out of my lips.

"I guess that's your way of admitting that you can't afford my pants. Anyway, I've got to go, fancy meeting you."

She opened her mouth to retort but I walked away before she could say anything. I didn't have that much time to exchange words with a nitwit. I headed to the kids section and picked out the art supplies they've been wanting all this while.

When I arrived home a couple of minutes later, Amy was the one who opened the door which was really surprising.

"If it isn't the boss lady. She works so hard that her father's birthday is nothing to her," Amy started in a mocking tone. I should have known the reason she opened the door was to attack me.

Ever since I came to the house, Amy never failed to show her dislike or should I say insecurity since she was the adopted daughter and I was the lost and found biological sister. Her hatred escalated when I became the CEO since that has always been her dream. She feels like I snatched everything from her.

"What are you talking about?" I frowned at her, and she opened her eyes widely.

"See? She doesn't even remember her father's birthday dinner. She acts like a workaholic so others will look unserious and careless," she snapped while scowling at me.

"Amy, stop!" Mom warned.

"Why? We've all been waiting here staring at the food like she's the queen. She kept us all waiting for hours and now I'm the one at fault again?" Amy yelled and I massaged my temples.

She finds fault every time and makes it look like our parents favor me over her when I should be the jealous one. She has been with my parents since she was a kid and I only found out about my real parents five years ago.

"I know you all don't love me. So, I'm done with all this mistreatment. I'm leaving!" she shouted before storming off to her room ignoring the incessant calls of her everyone.

  • UNTIL SHE'S MINE AGAIN    CHAPTER 14

CHAPTER 14HEAVEN As I strolled into her office that evening, I met her staring out the window, her back turned to me, and a small smile tugged at my lips. She certainly didn't know what was coming for her.I guess she had been so engrossed in deciding on whether to vape or not, because she didn't even notice my presence until her assistant called her."Miss Langston," the willowy lady called. I wonder if she was doubling as a model and assistant because she was exactly the epitome of a model. I made a mental note to ask about her while leaving, maybe we could consider her for our runway coming up soon. She turned back, a frown on her face but it immediately disappeared when our eyes met, only to be replaced with widened eyes as she immediately tucked the e-cigarette in the pocket of her Palazzo pants.Amanda had always been so stylish and that day wasn't an exception. No wonder she owned a fashion house. "Heaven," she called, blinking as she walked up to me. Obviously surprised to

  • UNTIL SHE'S MINE AGAIN    CHAPTER 13

CHAPTER 13HEAVEN"How did it go?" I questioned as I walked back into my company that morning. I met Jenna on the ground floor, and we decided to go up together. Earlier, she had insisted on going with me to Belmont, but I had refused since I wanted to face Atlas and the others alone. Instead, I had told her to go check up on Oliver. I was still bothered by his statement last night. Even though he later tried to wave it off as a joke, I just couldn't stop thinking there was some truth in it. What if there was really the possibility that Atlas punch had not been so strong to cause such injury? What if he had planned the whole thing and intentionally hurt himself? I had found the whole thing weird from the beginning. Yeah, Atlas punch could have been strong enough to make him lose his balance, but could it really lead to hitting his head? On the other hand, why would Oliver want to hurt himself for me?I was well aware of Oliver's love for me but, would that really cause him to do th

  • UNTIL SHE'S MINE AGAIN    CHAPTER 12

CHAPTER 12HEAVENHe didn't know what was coming for him. This was the moment I had been waiting for all these years. During our marriage, I had been forbidden from going to the company, but this time, I was not only stepping into the company but the highest room ever. The boardroom. And I was going to seal his fate.As I stepped into that boardroom, the air shifted. I could feel the heavy tension in the room but as all heads turned, the tension escalated. Some with confusion. Others with recognition and surprise. Of course, who wouldn't be surprised to see their CEO's ex wife and most of all, the one competitor they despised. The rival they couldn't surpass now unlike before. Who would want to see a business rival in their boardroom? Usually, Belmont had been the leading shoe brand but in the past few months, we had taken over and Belmont had probably been pushed to the last because even other companies were doing better than them. Why? Atlas always prided himself as the best busi

  • UNTIL SHE'S MINE AGAIN    CHAPTER 11

CHAPTER 11ATLAS I drew in a deep breath as I walked out of the police station that morning.Finally.I couldn't believe I literally spent all my night in that cold cell for a crime that shouldn't be as serious as they were making it to be. Aggravated assault? It had only been a single punch. Staying in the cell made me cold and all I could think about was that I wasn't really at fault like they claim it to be.Yeah, I was guilty for punching him, but he had punched me first. And it just doesn't make any sense that all that had happened due to a single punch. It was his fault for not being able to take a punch. I just found it so odd that he almost broke his skull because of my punch. His family definitely wanted to pursue the case. My lawyer had arrived that morning, even though he was a bit late, I was still thankful that I was able to get bailed out, though they were still pursuing a criminal suit but at least, I had the chance to fight back."We need to hurry. I have to attend a

  • UNTIL SHE'S MINE AGAIN    CHAPTER 10

CHAPTER 10HEAVEN"How is he?" Amy's voice shook as she rushed towards me and my eyes widened in surprise. Shouldn't she be on a vacation with her boyfriend or something? Mom said she was returning later tonight or tomorrow and we had only been in the hospital for a little less than thirty minutes and she showed up.Did she fly from somewhere or what? It didn't seem like their vacation was in New York and even if it was, I just found it so surprising that she would rush down here in a matter of minutes when she ought to be somewhere far away from home. They were best friends so it was understandable how concerned and worried she was. If something happens to Jenna or Raquel, I would certainly be the first one to fly there."He is being attended to. I'm waiting for the doctor," I told her, and she ran her hand through her hair. She turned back to me a few seconds later and the concern on her face immediately morphed into disgust as she threw me a scowl."This is all your fault!" She acc

  • UNTIL SHE'S MINE AGAIN    CHAPTER 9

CHAPTER 9ATLAS"What was that?"Amanda questioned as we walked into my house that busy evening.I was still trying to wrap my head around what just happened at the gala. I couldn't stop thinking about the blood that gushed out of Oliver's head and how he suddenly lost consciousness. Does it really make sense that my punch would be that powerful to cause such damage? Did he trip or something? I couldn't fathom anything and it was really messing with my brain. The way Heaven had looked at me like I was a murderer and the way she had avoided me like a plague shattered my heart into pieces. I was still trying to get in her good books and this had to happen, just why? Why didn't I stop myself from punching Oliver?I should have just ignored them and tried to speak to Heaven later on. I just couldn't accept that they were together. I couldn't believe how Heaven had changed so much. It had been hard to reach her all this while and when she appeared, it was obvious she was back for blood.Fro
