"That's impossible," Rosemary whispered.

"Is it?" Marcus asked. "Think about it, Rosemary. You've always been stronger and faster than other female werewolves. You have abilities that most Lunas don't have. Haven't you ever wondered why?"

Rosemary sat down heavily in a chair. Austin knelt beside her and took her hand.

"You're lying," Austin said into the phone. "You're just trying to confuse us."

"Am I?" Marcus laughed. "Ask Dr. Harrison. He knows the truth. He was there when Rosemary was born."

Everyone turned to look at Dr. Harrison. The old doctor's face had gone pale.

"Dr. Harrison?" Austin asked. "What is Marcus talking about?"

Dr. Harrison looked down at the floor. "Austin, there are things about that night that I never told anyone."

"What things?" Rosemary asked quietly.

"The night you were born, your mother came to me in secret," Dr. Harrison said slowly. "She was scared and bleeding. She said she had to hide you from someone dangerous."

"Who was my mother?" Rosemary asked.
