Mia's POV:

“So, you ready for it?” Mikey asked.

“I wouldn't be here if I wasn't,” Jackson said, confidently.

“I like that. These are my guys; Shark and Speedy.” Mikey said introducing the people standing next to him. “Speedy is in the race. Shark helps me around so stuff goes according to plan.”

Jackson shook Shark and Speedy’s hands. “It's nice to meet you. I hope we have a good race,” he said to Speedy.

Speedy chuckled. “You're not going to race me. Well, unless you can beat the other two contenders. Then.” He let out a depreciating laugh. One that I knew meant he was sure Jackson wouldn't make it to the final to race him. Speedy was sure he would beat his own two racers.

I tightened my hand around Jackson's hand and smiled sweetly. “With all due respect, you're going to chew and swallow your words, along with the dust and fumes from his car,” I said.

Speedy lowered his gaze to meet mine. “We'll see about that pretty lady.”

He said he'd loved it but now he didn't know how to feel.“I'm contemplating between asking you to wear it for three days straight or to take it off.” He said.I swallowed, heat traveling to the pit of my stomach and down below.
