The Honeymoon
The murky water of the swamp rippled and then became calm again as if nothing had happened. The silver moon was high in the night sky and the gentle breeze blew as they all stood at the bank, watching the swamp in silence.
The wedding bouquet that Lina threw in the water could no longer be seen in the dark. She stepped closer to Eon’s side who automatically opened his arm to enfold her.
“Eon, Lina, we have to go. Thank you for inviting us to your wedding.” Briare’s voice broke the silence between them.
“Thank you for coming for such short notice,” Eon replied, extending his hand for a handshake then realized that Lina was like a small chick under his right arm, that he had to move to his left and again offered his hand for a shake to Briare. “Hope to still see you at Luna,” he added.
Briare smiled at Eon’s invitation but in his eyes was sadness that Eon could not help but wonder what this man had been
