The Truth Beneath the Sky

With the thought of Rem trying to protect me, I moved over to the chest and tried to pull the chains off, to no avail. There was no start or end to them, yet they kept growing and tightening around the chest slowly. I frowned deeply and looked back to Seren. She looked at me helplessly.

“I tried that too, but as soon as I touched it, it ended up quickening the pace, likely because of my nature as a spirit. Rem would never trust nor allow me access,” she relayed and then looked down at the chest. “You at least do not have that effect, which means Rem must know who you are, at the very least.”

“Can he hear us?” I asked Seren curiously.

She seemed to mull over my question before replying with, “theoretically, he should be able to hear us, yes. We’re in His mind after all. Or his heart now, I suppose.”

“This is the strangest thing I have done, just so we’re aware,”
