LEVI

I was leaving the shower, still rubbing a towel through my hair with steam clinging to my skin, when I heard a sound that made me stop. Crying? I muttered, and it became clear that I had not been mistaken.

Concern washed over me as I dropped the towel on the chair and dashed out of the bedroom, only to have my heart shattered by the scene that greeted me.

Reva sat curled on the couch, her shoulders shaking, the divorce papers still spread out on the table in front of her.

I didn't say anything, just crossed the room and wrapped an arm around her from behind. She was startled by my touch, sucking in a sharp breath and turning her tear-streaked face toward me.

Her lips moved quickly, apologies spilling out silently at first, then rushing forward all at once. But I intervened. “Don't apologize," I replied quickly. “It's okay."

She collapsed again the moment the words left my lips, pressing herself against me and burying her face in my bare chest. Her sobs grew louder, her enti

REVAThe cup spun through the air and exploded against Hunter's shoulder, splattering coffee across his expensive coat and dripping on the table. There was a half-second of stunned silence before everything erupted. Hunter jumped to his feet so violently that his chair toppled backward. “Are you crazy!" He grabbed the glass bottle of water off the table and threw it without hesitation. It hit my mother square in the arm with a sickening thud, and she cried out, clutching herself, as the bottle clattered to the floor and rolled beneath another table.“You bitch!" Hunter roared, and something inside me snapped cleanly in half. I jumped to my feet, barely aware of the chair screeching behind me, grabbed my cup, and flung it straight at him. “How dare you hit my mother!" I screamed, and the cup struck his forehead, leaving blood trailing down his face. Nikolai lunged upright and pushed himself between us, his hands pressed against Hunter's chest as Hunter attempted to push past him.“St

REVAMy stomach had already twisted into knots by the time my mother and I drove into the underground parking garage. I thought signing the divorce papers was the hardest part. But it appears to be only the beginning.“Are you alright?" Mom asked, turning off the engine and looking at me with that soft, searching gaze that had always made it impossible to lie. But I tried anyway, knowing that talking about it wouldn't make much difference.“I have to be," I said, and she reached across the console to squeeze my hand. “You don't have to be strong every moment, you know." I nodded. “I know.”Following the meeting with the lawyer, we would meet with Nokolai. Mom was also coming with me to that meeting. Dad had wanted to accompany me, but Mom and I knew it wasn't a good idea. So we had to insist that he stay behind and promised that everything would be fine.My parents couldn't understand why I agreed to meet with Nikolai at first. Dad had wanted to take the phone from me and tell Nikolai

NIKOLAIHunter’s fingers laced with mine as we walked into the law offices. It was still holiday season, and everyone was basking in the magic it brought, except my fiancé and me. While everyone was sipping hot cocoa in pajamas on their balconies, we were hard at work to ensure that the coming season would start with us being exactly where we belonged, with each other, starting our forever. We had been denied for too long. We were shown into a private conference room, and the man who greeted us looked to be in his late forties. “Hunter,” he said warmly, stepping forward to shake his hand. “Good to see you.”“Likewise, Mark,” Hunter replied before turning to me. “This is Nikolai Belkov.”Mark nodded and extended his hand. “Mr. Belkov. I’ve heard a great deal about you.”We sat down, and almost immediately, Mark began, “Your wife, soon to be ex-wife, returned the divorce papers. They were processed this morning. We should receive the official confirmation by tomorrow.” Relief spread t

REVALevi's name flashed across the screen, and I looked up at my parents. “Excuse me for a second," I said softly, already standing, and then stepped away toward the hallway before responding. Stepping away to speak with my boss was something I wouldn't normally do. But too much had happened between us, and I still wasn't sure how much of Aspen I wanted to share with my parents.“Hey, is everything okay?" I asked quietly, since we had only recently parted ways, but he was calling me.“Hey," he said calmly. “I just wanted to check in, and I hope I'm not bothering you. I figured you'd just arrived home."“It's okay," I replied quickly. “You aren't bothering me at all. Yes, I arrived. Thank you again for allowing Jack to bring me." I said, and he told me not to mention it.After a brief pause, he spoke again. “I also wanted to let you know that you can take time off as needed. It will not count towards your annual leave. We will record it as a special leave."My breath caught, and for a

REVAThe jet's descent was so smooth that I barely noticed the ground until the wheels touched the private runway behind Levi's home. And San Francisco stretched beyond the perimeter, the city I both loved and dreaded, patiently waiting for me.By the time the jet came to a halt, a black luxury sedan was already waiting near the hangar, its engine running and the driver standing at attention. Everything about Levi's life moved without being a spectacle, which I appreciated, especially given everything I was going through. The door opened for us, and Levi assisted me inside before sliding in next to me. "Drop Reva off first," he said as the car drove away, but I immediately turned toward him. "No, I'm not going to my apartment." His brow furrowed as his focus sharpened."You aren't? He can drop you wherever you want." He added as the driver seamlessly merged onto the road, the city's most affluent stretch passing by the windows. This part of San Francisco felt cut off from the rest of
