Chloe crossed her right leg over her left, checking the clock and realizing she had arrived far too early.

Clutching her folder, she waited for Elijah to show up so they could talk. He had no idea she had come back to accept the job. She should have called him—after all, that’s what Elijah had asked her to do.

He wasn’t the one to blame for making her wait.
