Chapter 4 - Wedding Day
Elaine's POV
After I finished getting ready the next day, I went straight to my father's office to attempt to persuade him to cancel the marriage. But Duke Hayes was in Father's office with him, which irritated me even more. Because, after battling over ending this marriage, the father's decision is irreversible and cannot be altered. So I went out, leaving in my father's office, enraged and wanting to murder that jerk Duke Hayes with my two hands while going back to my room.
Damn it.
When I looked at my bed and saw the white wedding gown that I would be wearing, I felt an overwhelming feeling of surrender. I didn't expect to wear this gown so soon in my life; I was planning to marry in my 30s, but now I'm going to marry at the age of 25.
"Perhaps I should just elope to get out of this marriage," I whispered to myself.
I touched the soft and silky wedding gown, thinking about the lucky women who can wear this gown with the person they love in the first place, as opposed to me, who is forced to marry the man I despise.
Maybe I should just accept this marriage since, no matter how much I try to convince them, their decisions are irrevocable and cannot be reversed. I'll simply have to wait and watch what happens in my marriage with Duke Hayes to see if it benefits me or not.
Maybe this marriage is not as bad as what I imagine it to be and I am just exaggerating on thinking it's going to be a disaster. But still I can't help myself to react in that way because this marriage is so sudden and I was not prepared at all! If I was given time I will be mentally and physically prepared but like this? No, it's not acceptable for me.
"Sis?" I heard Davina knock on my door and interrupt the thoughts I was having in my head.
" Yes Davina?" I replied back.
"Can I assist you in getting dressed? Mother has asked me to help you," Davina asked.
I walked over to my door and opened it to let Davina in. I noticed Davina was already dressed and ready for the wedding as I opened the door. Her green silky gown compliments the color of her eyes, which are forest green.
"You look lovely, Davina," I said with a smile, complimenting her.
Davina just laughed at what I said, "silly Ela, you just noticed I'm beautiful? I'm always beautiful, you know," she said proudly, smiling at me.
Why is this silly sister of mine so confident, and I smack her head not so hard"Who says you're beautiful all the time? I just complimented you because you finally became a human being for this occasion," I teased Davina.
Davina's eyes widened in surprise when she heard what I said and she looked at me with irritated eyes, "you dare to tease me Ela?! and I am beautiful not just on this occasion, but every day," she defended herself.
I raised my eyebrows at her, puzzled. "Really? Why didn't I notice?" I asked, pretending to be perplexed.
Davina turns red when she hears what I said in rage "Ela, shut up! Stop teasing me already, you meanie; instead of teasing me, thank me for doing you a favor!"
Hmm?
" What favor are you saying ?" I asked Davina again.
"Oh, did I say something? No, I didn't Ela," Davina said, "anyway, let's get you ready for the wedding, my beautiful Ela," she added excitedly.
Before I could say anything else, Davina entered my room, accompanied by three women with excited expressions on their faces, which surprised me.
I looked at Davina, who was still smiling at me, and asked, "Who?!"
"Oh them? I hired them to do make-up on my face," she joked, "silly they are here to make you the beautiful woman in your wedding."
"But, Davina, I can do my own makeup," I told her.
"Nope, you need them to make you the most beautiful bride in your wedding and if you do your own makeup you will be seen as a plain and ugly Bride so no more protest Sis " Davina said in disagreement.
And she suddenly pushed me in the back, towards a chair, and let me sit. " Shall we begin casting a spell to make you beautiful, my dear?" Davina asked, her eyes twinkling.
" Wait Davi-"
Before I could protest again, Davina's finger covered my mouth and said, "Shhhhh... just relax and wait for the magic to do its work, my dear Sis."
As a result, I had no choice but to let them do whatever they wanted with me. And just silently prayed that God would perform a miracle and stop this marriage today.
"Damn you, God, why can't you listen to my prayer?!" I grumbled to myself.
We had just arrived in front of the church, where everyone was waiting for me to enter. And all I want to do is to get away from this crazy wedding that I don't want to do at all. But God is not on my side today. Damn it.
Davina shifted her gaze to me, concerned. "Did you say anything Ela?" she asked.
I just pretended not to understand what she was saying and moved my face sideways in response. "I didn't say anything, maybe you heard a ghost talking to Davina," I sarcastically said.
Davina pushed my shoulder lightly and laughed, not realizing it was a sarcastic comment. "Don't be silly Ela, Ghost doesn't exist," she said.
"Perhaps they don't, but we're not confident that theory is correct, Davina," I added again.
"Argh! Stop talking about ghosts and focus on your wedding day Ela, you're about to leave in this car and walk yourself down the aisle as your husband will be waiting for you in there," Davina said dreamily as she changed the subject.
I just rolled my eyes and sarcastically said, "If you're so excited about my wedding, you should marry him instead, Davina."
" Ela don't be an ass in your wedding you should be happy you're going to be married already!" Davina tried to cheer me up.
How can I be happy when I'm forced to marry a man I don't even like in the first place? This is due to the alcohol. My life has changed drastically since the night I was drunk and had my one-night stand with that jerk! Damn it, I swear I'm not going to drink anymore to avoid any future problems.
" Whatever, let's just get the wedding started and be done with it," I said coldly.
I opened the door and stepped out of the car without waiting for Davina's reaction. I looked dreadfully in the church's front door, which made my heart race anxiously. It's as if I'm actually agitated because it just sinks in. Whether I like it or not, I'm going to get married.
I started walking up the stairs, and each step felt like it was my last. As I finally make it to the front door of the church, my mind is racing with ideas.
But the only thing I can understand in my thoughts right now is that I want to flee this place or that everything is a nightmare and I will wake up soon.
Chapter 5 - Married CoupleElaine's POVWhen I reached the front door of the church immediately a wedding song was played in the background. I could feel the stares of everyone at me. Which is making me want to walk away from all of this."My dear, you look so beautiful in your wedding gown," Father said, smiling and looking at me with joy in his eyes. Why is everyone happy at my wedding when I am the only one who is unhappy?Mother came close to me and smiled proudly, saying, "Of course she is beautiful because I am her beautiful mother, Elaine's beauty came from me."I didn't say anything and decided to pretend to smile despite the fact that all I wanted to do at the time was cry. My father and I began walking down the aisle after Father and Mother spoke. My heart was racing faster and faster, and I couldn't tell if I was nervous about the marriage or about the man I was going to marry.I just keep my head down while walking because I don't want everyone to see my unhappy and about t
Chapter 6 - Wedding kissElaine's POV Everyone clapped their hands in joy when Father announced that we finally became a husband and wife. While I pretended to smile in their presence.“In the sight of God and these witnesses, I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may now kiss!” the priest said with a smile on his face.Wait what?!When everyone heard what the priest said, they cheered and began chanting loudly, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!"No way, I'm not kissing this man! Over my dead body, of course. When Duke suddenly pulled me towards him, I protested violently and tried to step away from him. He removed my veil in my face while tightly gripping my waist with one hand. Before I could protest, he kissed me on the lips in front of everyone, causing them to gasp and shout in delight. The clamor of the people inside the chapel was silenced as our lips touched. As though everyone had come to a halt for a few seconds. My body feels a tingling feeling that puzzles me as to what it signifies
Chapter 7 - Family Dance TraditionDuke's POVWhen we got to the hotel, Elaine went straight to the hotel room I had arranged for her, without saying anything to me.I can't blame her; Elaine's mad at me for marrying her instead of her sister Davina, who was my first Fiance until we all learnt Elaine was my bride all along. It wasn't my fault; it was my grandfather's tactic to violate Elaine's grandfather's agreement.I know it's wrong to feel pleased, but I can't stop myself since, despite her hatred for me, I finally have her as my wife. I'll do my best to make her like me even a tiny bit. Then I'll be content since I'm not supposed to feel glad with what I've done to Elaine."Is everything ready in my wife's room?" I questioned the hotel employee before proceeding to my own room."Yes sir, don't worry, everything is ready for your wife in her room," the hotel employee assured me as she responded to my question." Good," I replied.I then went to my room to change into more comfy c
Chapter 8 - Wedding Night PART ONE: forgotten duty.Elaine's POVWe had been dancing for however long we had been looking into each other's eyes when suddenly there was a loud applause that stopped whatever had been happening to us. Which was the sign that the song had just ended.I was still holding Duke's body when I realized what had just happened, which surprised me. I quickly moved away from him in fear as if what had just happened had never occurred. What the hell just happened?Duke followed suit and moved away from me as soon as I did. I was still unsure of what had happened while they were dancing back there when I saw my mother-in-law walking towards us with my father-in-law by her side.Mother-in-law said, "Wow that dance is so beautiful dear!," gazing at both of them with tears in her eyes.Father-in-law said in a proud voice, "It's a sign from above you are destined together and our ancestors accept you in our family dear."It's so strange to me that I can no longer under
Chapter 9 - Wedding Night PART 2 : Not a virgin Elaine's POVI felt a little uneasy during the 30-second period of silence because he was neither speaking nor responding to what I had just said aloud.I suppose I'm a little disappointed in his response because in some of the movies I've seen, when a husband discovers that his wife is no longer virgin, he becomes furious and divorces me right away." Hey, did you hear me?! I said I am no longer a virgin and had a one night stand with a stranger before this marriage!" I spoke up again, growing impatient with the room's long silence. That's why I said that—to enrage him and obtain the divorce papers. I'm hoping that it will work because it will help me solve all of my problems.Did he not hear what I said to him??Following a wait of thirty seconds, I heard him laughing in front of me, which surprised me and caused me to look at his face. I hadn't anticipated seeing Duke Hayes proudly wearing a smug expression.Duke Hayes continued to st
Chapter 10 - WEDDING NIGHT PART 3 - First name bases.Elaine's POVI realized he kissed me on the lips after 30 seconds of having both of our lips together. I was so surprised that I pushed him away and slapped him across the face."How dare you kiss me, jerk!" I yelled angrily at him.Duke just touched the cheeks where I slapped him without showing any pain in his expression. "Don't be too exaggerating Elaine, it's not like I've committed a heinous crime by kissing my own wife's lips," he reasoned."Not if it's by force, then it's a crime, you jerk!" I retorted. He chuckled at what I said, "no, it's not when I'm proving to my dear wife that we're close enough to call each other first names because we're a married couple," he reasoned again."And because we're already married, we need to be affectionate with each other by calling each other's name," he added. What kind of illogical reasoning is that?! I strongly disagree and do not understand how he is thinking in his head."It is not
Chapter 11 - WEDDING NIGHT PART 4 - IN ONE BEDDuke's POVToday, I could tell this woman despised being married to me. I understand her sentiment and simply enjoy teasing her with every idea that comes to mind. She glared at me when she finally surrendered and believed that she can't escape sleeping Together with me in one bed."Even though we're sleeping on the same bed, NO TOUCHING!" she warned, emphasizing the word to me more. Immediately turned her back at me to walk towards the bed.To tease her, I raised an eyebrow and pretended to give her body a boring look. "Elaine, how could you have such a low opinion of me, I don't force any woman to sleep with me, and you are not my type to be honest," I replied back, but I was only lying.Well, her body is my type, and I'm doing my best not to touch her insanely because I don't want her to be scared of me. I couldn't help but be cold and tease her.Immediately, her face turns red with rage, and she looks at me again, her vivid cerulean
Chapter 12 - WEDDING NIGHT PART 5 - Dirty thoughts be goneElaine's POVI immediately turned on the cold shower after giving that Bastard one last warning not to peek while I was inside the bathroom. I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart and my body, which was still reeling from the words Bastard had described, which had caused my body to become so unstable.Fuck, I didn't expect my body to spin out of control as I listened to that jerk talk about how he was going to touch my body. It made my body tremble with desire, as if it remembered how I was touched on the night we made love and I didn't even remember what happened. The cold shower isn't helping to calm my body, which is still feeling hot all over the place, as he described in his deep vulgar tone, and his eyes continue to roam my body. It's as if he's kissing every place he looks with his eyes. While anticipating and whimpering silently, I did my best not to let him see or hear my moaning." ARGH! Elaine Cai, just stop t
