CHAPTER 1.1

CHAPTER 1.1

Lou’s Point of View

“It’s so hot in the Philippines! What the heck! I hate the summer season!” I said while wiping my sweat.

“Can we do this?” Shane asked me while giggling.

“Not anymore! Why the line is extremely long!!! I want to quit studying because of this!!!” I complained. We’re currently enrolling for this coming school year. We are upcoming Grade 10 students! Exaggerating! Time flies so fast! Before, my sister accompanies me here to enroll before but now, I’m the one who will do it for myself.

“There are no charming and handsome transferees here! So pathetic!!” Shane said in a sad voice.

“You silly! Their enrollment is tomorrow!”

“OMG! Let’s go back tomorrow! Let’s enroll tomorrow since grade 10 transferees will do the same too” She persuades me.

I rolled my eyes at her. “You’re so flirty! It’s up to you if that is your choice!” The teacher suddenly calls us and we sat in the chair. I give my report card to the teacher and she inspects it thoroughly.

“Your grades are quite high!” She said while viewing on my grades.

“Thank you, Ma’am! Hehe,” I responded while smiling.

“Okay, I will write your name! I will take your card and give it to your next adviser. Good luck with your Grade 10 life!” She explained.

“Alright, Ma’am! Thank you!” I stood up as well as Shane so we started walking out of the court. This is how enrollment in public schools occurs. It’s enjoyable and stressful at the same time especially when the weather is too hot.

I am Lou. I’m 16 and I’m proud gay. Incoming grade 10 students. This is our last year as Junior High Student. It’s frustrating but that’s life. They say ‘High school is the most memorable days of our lives’ which is correct. I face countless problems, met new friends since we’re hetero, and the memories we made that I will bring forever. I swear I will enjoy our last year.

“Let’s go?! You started daydreaming again there!” Shane said while smirking.

“Of course, we will leave this school! We made a bunch of memories together. I feel proud because I will finish in this school and I’ll never be ashamed to say that I’m a public student” I said proudly while staring at the entire school.

I prefer studying in public than in private schools. My family wants me to study in private but I neglect. I don’t know why most of people degrading public students. People’s mentality is a stereotype. Not all the students here are war freak.

I remember when I was in the 7th grade, I'm nervous of what will happen to my high school life. I thought it would be difficult but honestly speaking, it's balance. There are times that they will give us tons of workloads but all you need to do is time management.

“You always becoming dramatic when you're glancing at someone or to a thing! The school year doesn’t start yet but you have a lot of dramas in your mind! You don’t even have classmates!” Shane said while laughing. I realize what she has said. She has points.

I laughed “I’m just excited! You’re ruining my moment!” and I rolled my eyes on her.

“Let’s go home! I don’t want to get tanned! My kojic will be wasted if that happens!” she said and pulled my arms and we ran out of the campus. Our home is near to our school. As in walking distance only. Since my friend has a silver spoon on her mouth, she doesn’t want to walk. In our barangay, we have pedicab drivers and that’s the most convenient mode of transportation here.

“You’re so terrifying! Your house is too near but you prefer riding a pedicab!” I said.

“You know that the Philippines is a tropical country! It’s too hot as if we’re inside of the oven!”

“You complain too much! The weather is given! We must face it!” a pedicab stops in front of us and we get inside of it.

After Three Minutes

I’m home. Since it’s lunchtime, I went to our kitchen to look for food. My tummy is now boiling and it means, I’m hungry!

I get shocked when I saw the food. Pork in sour broth with taro or in Tagalog, Sinigang na Baboy.

I rapidly took a plate and I put a lot of rice. I put a broth and I picked a slice of pork with skin in it. I went to our terrace because it’s relaxing to eat here.

“Are you hungry???” my sister said while smirking at me. She saw my plate full of rice and pork.

“You know that this is my favorite dish!” I seat down on the chair and I started eating my lunch! What a relief!

In less than a while, I started eating, my phone vibrates. I look at it and I saw that there is a notification from Facebook. I opened my phone and I clicked the Facebook app. I saw a friend request from someone.

I got shocked by what I saw.

-Homber Giovanni Kardenies sent you a friend request-

My forehead knelt. That name is quite familiar. I clicked the profile and started stalking him.

Handsome. Fair skin. Deep dimples.

I continued stalking until I saw a familiar photo. I saw him he was with my friend, Gedie. I remember Gedie borrowed my laptop to edit their photo on photoshop. Am I right? This is Gedie’s long time crush since they were Grade 4?

I took a screenshot of the profile and I send it to Gedie

“Look at this girl!”

Gedie: What’s that?! Why he added you?!

Me: I don’t even know! Hahaha! Should I accept him? Don’t be jealous!

Gedie: It’s up to you! But remember, he’s mine!

I laughed because of Gedie’s answer. This is her ultimate crush. When someone having a crush on him, Gedie gets mad easily.

I tap the confirm button and we’re now friends. I don’t see him often in school during my Grade 9 days. I see him sometimes with Gedie but I don’t give a damn. Who is he? A Hollywood Artist???

After responding to his friend request, I closed my phone and continue eating.
