Chapter 14

I had been bowling for some time, but none of my balls managed to knock down all the pins. So I took a break to get some water to quench my thirst. Dam was laughing uncontrollably beside me, and I scowled at him.

"It's not funny," I snapped at him.

"But it is," he said, still laughing. "How have you not been able to get all your balls in even once?" he asked.

"These things are cursed," I grumbled. "I'm usually good at bowling," I told him, which only made him laugh even harder.

"How long has it been since you went bowling?" he asked, finally stopping his laughter.

"About three months," I replied.

"Maybe you just need more time to get used to it again," he suggested.

"I've seen people bowl so well the first time they try it," I told him.

"Maybe it was just luck," he suggested, shrugging.

"Maybe," I agreed. "Anyway, I'm thirsty," I informed him.

"Okay, there's a bar over there," he pointed to the left. "We can get drinks there."

"Okay."

He got a beer, and I got a bottle of chilled mango
