EIGHTY ONE

Diane sat in the car beside Nicholas, mute, as Nicholas's driver drove to the airport. The both of them had hurriedly packed a few things ranging from their personal belongings to their phones. Diane turned on her phone and quickly scrolled through her contact list. She clicked in Sheila, her personal assistant's number and dialed it. After a few rings, Sheila answered the call. “Hey, Sheila,” Diane said in a small voice. “Something urgent came up and I won’t be coming to work for a few days….. Yes. Tell Ariana that I’ve tried her number so many times…… I’m counting on you to keep the place together until I return. Good. Bye,” She said and ended the call. Then, she sighed and leaned backwards, relaxing into the car seat.

“How are you feeling?”

“Exhilarated,” Diane replied with another sigh. “This feels weird, like we are running away or something.”

“Like eloping?” Nicholas asked with a chuckle.

“Hmmm….. except we aren’t. We are merely going after my sister who took off days ago.” S
