MELIA POV

Rounding the corner, I saw Kira pouting at the breakfast table with our cousins Lily and Vera.

I slid myself into a chair at the massive kitchen island, making sure I kept my back to the three of them.

There was a huge bouquet of all different flavored muffins sitting in the middle of the island. I took two, one blueberry and one banana. I quickly devoured the first one and started on the second one when my cousin Matt snuck up behind me and ferociously started tickling me.

Screaming, I sucked a big chunk of blueberry muffin down my windpipe. I coughed so hard I thought my lungs were going to burst.

Once, I dislodged the muffin chunk and I tried regaining some of my composure.

With everyone in the room trying not to hysterically laugh, my composure was a lost cause.

Matt was, of course, bent over laughing, looking as if he was hyperventilating, so I punched him in the side, which abruptly ended not only his but all the laughter in the kitchen.

“Damn, Mia”, Matt said, rubbing  his side.

“Don’t Mia me, you ass. The next one is to the side of the head”

“Oh, don’t get your panties in a twist little cousin”. Matt patted me on the head.

Throwing my elbow behind me, I caught him square in the ribs.

“Keep petting me and the next one is to your nose”

“Damn, I see the combat training has finally paid off”, he massaged his sore ribs.

Turning to look up at him. “Don’t try to butter me up now after you almost let me choke to death,” I said with my nose and eyes scrunched in disgust.

Before he could say anything else, my mom walked into the kitchen with a huge smile on her pretty face.

“Aww, my beautiful baby. Are you excited about finally turning 18?” She wrapped her arms around my waist.

“Of course not mama.” I playfully sassed at her wrapping my arms around her tiny frame.

Pulling away, she slapped me on the arm. “Smartass!”

“I don’t want to grow up, mom. Is that so bad?”

“Oh baby, if I could have kept you and your sisters small forever, I would have! Believe me. Some days I'd pray for it and other days I fantasize about damning us all.” She smiled with a wink.

“Thanks a lot, mom.”

“Well, you and your sisters gave me and your father a run for our money, honey. Hell, you all still do!”

“Speaking of Maisie and Margot, where are they this morning?”

“Umm, I haven’t seen them yet!” I shrugged.

“They were up early this morning training with Dean, unlike someone we know.” Kira happily chimed in.

“Of course,” I grumbled under my breath.

“I thought I told them no training today. I don’t want you guys to be overly exhausted for your party this evening,” Mom said sternly.

“PARTY?” “Mom, when was that made official?”

“YES PARTY! We decided weeks ago and we made it official last week.”

“MOM!”

“Don’t start! You are going and, since you don’t listen, you had better already have something presentable to wear. Your dad has invited several high-ranking members from our neighboring covens to attend.”

“It wouldn’t hurt for us to become sister covens instead of neighboring covens if you catch my drift,” Mom smirked as she swayed her hips.

“Ewww, Mom!”

“Love you, honey. Happy Birthday!” She chuckled and smiled sweetly as she left the room with the rest of my blueberry muffin.

I don’t understand why the only way we can strengthen our coven is by marrying a man!

I rolled my eyes at my thoughts.

Immediately, after mom left, I opened up my mindlink to my sisters.

Mom was on her way to embarrass them, not that they gave me the same courtesy or anything.

Mindlinking or telepathy for most witches takes years to master and that’s if they can do it at all.

All the inner court members and warriors in our coven are able to mindlink with one another, but some lose the ability once they cross over the coven border.

Mom can project her mindlink to the whole coven at once, but not everyone in the coven can mindlink back to her.

It wasn’t until mom took over as the High Priestess that she insisted on all the coven members seeking out the mind-linking ability.

My sisters and I have always been able to mindlink with one another as far back as I can remember.

Mom thinks it has something to do with us being triplets, but no one knows for sure.

“Where the hell are you guys? Neither one of you wanted to remind me about tonight’s festivities?”

“Don’t blame us.” Maisie chuckled.

“You’re the worst,” Margot said dryly.

“Shut it, Margot!” I shot back at her.

“Where are you anyway? We all agreed that we were going to train this morning before mom forbade it, remember.” Margot sarcastically stated.

“I’m eating breakfast. Well, I was,” I said as my mind wandered off.

A sweaty, earthy scent that smelled just like red cedar right before it rained, swirled around and engulfed me.

I cut off my mindlink when I smelled Dean walking into the kitchen.

“Ms. Kingston.”

“Dean!”

“You weren't at training this morning.”

“Ahh, you missed me?” I raised an eyebrow at him.

Shaking his head, he let out a chuckle as he grabbed water from the fridge. Right before he turned to exit the kitchen, he looked back at me and winked.

Dean was the only son of the covenant's head trainer and I have been madly in love with him since the week we moved back to the coven but that isn't saying much since all the single girls in our coven were in love with him.

He had been training his whole life to take over for his dad, Sam.

Just this year, Sam finally let Dean take over eighty percent of everybody’s day-to-day training. Which is ninety-nine percent of the reason I hadn't been complaining about going every morning at 5 am.

Dean is perfect; 6’2, shoulder-length dreads, milk chocolate skin, dark-cinnamon swirl eyes, a perfectly chiseled body that even the gods would be jealous of, and the most beautiful smile, framed by big pouty peach colored lips.

Oh, did I mention the eight-pack of abs? Not six, freaking eight!!

Mmm goddess, I could just eat him up.

“Earth to Melia. Are you ready yet?” Kira said loudly with a sigh, pulling me out of my fantasy.

“Ready for what exactly?” I rolled my eyes.

“The mall! You promised you would take us to the mall!”

“You already made us miss our hair appointment this morning.” Lily pouted.

“Get up. Let’s go. NOW!” Kira pulled me out of my seat.

When did this turn into Kira’s day?

  • Untold Blood Oath    59. FREELOADER

ALPHA AUGUST POVWe searched for the ranch hand every day for two weeks. The community is devastated since he remains missing, but we didn’t know what else to do to find the boy. I thought about calling Alejandra’s tracking team but thought better of it. At least until I get back to the pack. They hadn't taken me up on the offer to come and visit the pack yet, and I don't want to push pack business into them if they're not interested. It did remind me of the weird picture they found that was taken of Melia. So I sent it to Thomas so he could get a jump start on figuring out where it came from but with Cici's murder and Melia's abductor still in the wind I'm not sure how he will find the time. Which is why I'm glad to finally be going home, for a few weeks anyways. Nikita's initiation day is almost here and while I have no choice but to be there I also think it will be a good learning experience for Melia. It's been five weeks since Melia got her wolf back, and things were finally gett

  • Untold Blood Oath    58. WOLVES INTUITION

MELIA POVI can hear my mom's voice when I open the screen door and step onto the porch, so I took off down the steps to find her. I want to ask her if she needs me to help her or Maggie this morning before I find something to get into with Aunt Sarah. When I round the big barn, I couldn't help but overhear what Alpha August was saying to my mother. "I have never heard of a wolf shifter losing their wolf and if she would start learning the ways of the pack and the duties she will have to fulfill maybe she could relax enough for her wolf to regain the strength she needs to come back. But if she doesn't get her shit together, I'm going to have no choice but to give the position to one of her sisters. I know that Maisie has really been invested in the politics and laws since David has been letting her intern, but Margot is the one showing all the potential leadership abilities. With her condition, I wasn't sure how possible it would be for her to step up, but she is improving every day,

  • Untold Blood Oath    57. SHITHEAD

ALPHA AUGUST POV James had to let me out of the truck. I wanted to erupt like a fucking volcano. With my Alpha aura rolling off me in waves I don't know if James would even make it back to the ranch with me in his truck. I didn't even wait for him to come to a complete stop. As soon as my feet hit the dirt, I took off running towards the woods, and once I was at the tree line, Bishop pushed through and took over seamlessly. He immediately stuck his nose up in the air to search for Athena, and almost instantly, he caught her scent, which sent a calming sensation down our spine. I didn't think she would be out here yet, but what the hell did I know? Apparently fucking nothing at this point. He took off running towards her scent and it didn't take us long to find her and Izzy practicing in the middle of the woods. Athena was without effort changing from human to wolf and wolf to human repeatedly. "The more you do it the easier it becomes." I heard Izzy yell out to her. "If only I could

  • Untold Blood Oath    56. THE RANCH

ALPHA AUGUST POV It has been two months since we rescued Melia, but nothing has been the same. Athena was finally able to turn back into human form, but with any stress or anger, she was still shifting without control. Instead of keeping her locked in the bunker, I packed her and the girls up and moved us all down to my parent’s ranch temporarily. Lenny and Elenior are here with us. Thomas is taking care of things at the pack until we get back. I knew this wasn’t a permanent fix, but it was the best I could think of at the time. Emse and Baine weren’t too happy about the arrangement, but they had no clue what to do with Athena and her wolf. There was plenty of forest on the 100,000 acres of property my family owned for my girls to run themselves tired. Lenny and I kept close by so we could steer them away from any of the little towns or other rancher’s property they might have gotten a little too close to while they let their wolf run.Maisie still didn’t show any signs of having a w

**Content Warning - sexual abuse, profanity.** MELIA POV I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids wouldn’t budge; I couldn’t even groan out of annoyance. I wanted to roll over; my back was killing me. Even just wiggling my fingers or toes a bit would be sufficient for the moment. I couldn’t do anything but lie here in silence. I could feel that my shirt had ridden up a bit on my back. The exposed spot had almost gone numb from the freezing floor. So I had to assume that I was back in the basement. I just hoped that I wasn’t in the filthy, goddess-forsaken cage that kept me trapped when I first got here. *** A steel door slammed somewhere close by, making me jolt upright. I must’ve dozed off because I was now able to move my body and limbs. I finally opened my eyes, and I blinked a few times, trying to clear my vision. Looking around, I could see that I wasn’t in a cage. In fact, there wasn’t a cage anywhere in this room, but what I saw was far worse. Three of Alexander’s goons were

  • Untold Blood Oath    54. OUR GIRL

ALPHA AUGUST POVIt didn’t take Alejandra any time at all to start looking for my daughter. Why hadn’t I come to her sooner? If anything had happened to Melia, it would all be on me.I shook my head, trying to shake loose all the unhelpful thoughts and focus on the task at hand.“Do you have a clear picture of her face that we can use?” She asked, clicking her phone shut.I must have drifted because I didn’t hear any of her phone conversation.“Yes, of course. Here is the only picture I have of them. It was shortly after they had arrived at the pack house. The girls talked me into getting ice cream after Sunday dinner, just the three of us.She raised her eyebrows with a questioning look but said nothing as she scrolled through the few pictures I had of my girls.“Do you want to talk about it?”“There isn’t much to talk about. The wolf and witch counsel couldn’t know that a soon-to-be Alpha and a High Priestess procreated, so our parents covered it up. Their mother raised them for the
