Chapter 2 A Show of Force Upon Entering the House

Yaslyn got into the first car which was driven by Xoan. She stared out the window, a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside her. Her mother had died when she was young, and she lived with her father Oliver Lyon in that small town for many years.

Two months ago, Oliver passed away due to an illness. His last wish was for Yaslyn to have a good life. Yaslyn knew about the arranged marriage between her father and his good friend Stephen, and she had always resisted it. However, as it was her father's last wish, she could only agree to go to the Warren family.

When they arrived in Jefferson City, the car stopped in front of a European-style mansion. Yaslyn got out of the car and followed the brothers into the mansion.

On the sofa sat an elegant woman. As soon as Marcus got home, he complained, "Mom, we're back! It was so tiring."

Sophie Lane looked over her five sons, cheerfully asked a maid to prepare some tea, and then turned her gaze to Yaslyn, who was trailing behind. She took in the young woman, who was much more beautiful than she had appeared in the photos.

Sophie gave a cold laugh and said with a mocking tone, "So, you're Yaslyn? Going to such lengths to change your appearance to marry into our Warren family."

The arranged marriage was Stephen's doing, and no one in the Warren family was pleased with Yaslyn, but they could not go against Stephen.

"Mrs. Warren, I haven't gotten any plastic surgery done."

Sophie scoffed. Seeing the butler, Leon, bringing in Yaslyn's luggage from the car, she quickly said, "Leon, open and inspect the luggage."

Yaslyn's eyes flashed coldly. "Mrs. Warren, this is my stuff."

"Of course, I know it's yours, which is why it should be checked. You're from the countryside, and it wouldn't be good if you brought something dirty or dangerous to our home."

After saying that, Sophie gave the butler a knowing look. The five Warren brothers, indifferent to Yaslyn's arrival, lounged on the sofa. None of them stepped forward to help her.

Just as Leon was about to comply, Yaslyn grabbed her luggage. Her face was expressionless as she said, "No one is allowed to touch my belongings."

Sophie stood up, her face showing signs of anger. "Hmph, I see. So, you have something to hide? I must see what's in there today."

With that, she called for the bodyguards. As four or five bodyguards approached, everyone put down their phones to watch the spectacle. They thought Yaslyn would panic and give in, but she remained calm.

Just as the bodyguards were about to grab Yaslyn's luggage, a deep voice came from the entrance. "Stop."

It was Stephen. He hurried over, looking at Yaslyn with concern. "Yaslyn, are you okay? I'm sorry, I had a meeting at the company and just returned."

"I'm fine, Mr. Warren," Yaslyn said, shaking her head.

Stephen turned to Sophie and barked, "What are you doing? Yaslyn just arrived, and you're treating her like this?"

"Hmph, what did I do? I just wanted to see if she brought something filthy here!"

Sophie glanced at Yaslyn with disgust before walking up the stairs without further argument.

Stephen sighed and said, "I'm sorry, Yaslyn. She might have some misunderstandings about you, but I'll explain it to her."

Yaslyn shook her head to indicate it was alright. Over the years, she had encountered many people with prejudices against her.

Stephen addressed the household staff and bodyguards, saying, "From now on, Yaslyn will be living here. None of you shall disrespect her."

Stephen turned around once again to look at his five sons lounging on the sofa.

"You mustn't pick on Yaslyn," he warned them sternly, "Also, you certainly cannot stand by while others do so."

All five young men were silent, their expressions grave. Why did Stephen have such a soft spot for Yaslyn?
