Chapter 3 Money is Not an Issue for Yaslyn

After some pleasantries, Stephen took Yaslyn to see her room. It was spacious and brightly lit, elegantly decorated with luxurious details. Stephen asked, "Yaslyn, are you satisfied with how the room is arranged? If you're not, I can have it redecorated to your liking."

"Mr. Warren, I really like it. Thank you," Yaslyn replied, looking at the man in front of her with mixed emotions.

Yaslyn had met Stephen several times in her childhood, and he had always been kind to her. Her late father came to mind as she thought about that, and her expression turned somber.

"You must be tired after the journey," Stephen continued. "Rest for now, and I'll call you when dinner is ready."

Yaslyn nodded and returned to her room to tidy up her belongings.

After dinner, Stephen sat with Yaslyn on the sofa, chatted, and subsequently handed her a credit card.

"Yaslyn, take this card. Let my boys take you around Jefferson City tomorrow. Buy whatever you want," Stephen offered.

"Mr. Warren, thank you for your generosity. However, I must decline," Yaslyn responded as she caught Sophie’s displeased expression out of the corner of her eye.

"Tut-tut, acting so high and mighty," Sophie remarked, her tone laced with scorn. "You're only here with the Warren family for the money, aren’t you?"

"Sophie Lane!" Stephen shouted, his voice filled with anger.

"Am I not speaking the truth? Why are you shouting at me?"

A faint twitch tugged at the corner of Yaslyn's mouth. She was unsure how she had offended Sophie, but after much insistence, she finally refused Stephen's kindness.

Just then, her phone rang, and a voice came through. "Yaslyn, the company made a profit of three billion, eight hundred and twenty million this quarter. It's been transferred to your account."

A smirk tugged at the corners of Yaslyn's lips. Money was one thing she definitely did not lack.

The next morning, Yaslyn learned from the butler that Stephen had left early to tend to business matters. His five sons were at the breakfast table; Stephen had asked them to take Yaslyn on a tour around Jefferson City.

Just as Yaslyn settled into her chair, the eldest son, Xoan, spoke in a deep voice, "I have a meeting at the company today. The four of them will take you out."

Without another word, he put down his utensils and left.

"Apologies, Yaslyn," the others chimed in.

"I have a shoot today. I can't accompany you."

"I have two surgeries at the hospital."

"I have a business trip."

"I have classes."

One after the other, they all excused themselves and left the table. With an exasperated roll of her eyes, Yaslyn continued her breakfast leisurely. She spent the afternoon in her room, and just as evening was setting in, her phone rang again.

"Yaslyn, Yaslyn, are you in Jefferson City?" An excited voice buzzed from the other side.

"Do you need anything?" Yaslyn asked coolly.

"You came to Jefferson City and didn’t even tell me. That's not fair! I don’t care! You’re having dinner with me right now."

"No."

"If you don’t come, I’m going over to the Warrens."

Yaslyn rolled her eyes.

Half an hour later, she informed the butler and left the villa alone. After having dinner with Wade Yeager, Yaslyn was unwillingly dragged to a high-end bar in Jefferson City.

"Yaslyn, no one in the Warren family is harassing you, right?" Wade inquired.

"Who could harass me?" Yaslyn scoffed.

Wade chuckled awkwardly. "Right..."

Recalling Yaslyn's past, he had to admit it was true. As long as she did not bother anyone, no one could bother her. Despite her good looks, Yaslyn was no pushover.

"So, are you really going to get engaged to someone from the Warren family?" he asked.

"I don't know," Yaslyn replied nonchalantly, sipping her drink.

She would never have gone to the Warren family if it had not been for her father. Since she was already there, she could only take it one step at a time.

The two were in the bar's main hall on the first floor, completely unaware that someone had watched them intently from a booth on the second floor.
