CHAPTER ONE - THE PLAYBOY

Tyler

I use a towel to dry my hair a bit as I stand in front of the mirror after my shower. Football is my love. My passion even. But sweaty jerseys are something I just can't handle and I have to take a shower after every game. I'm a clean freak like that.

I gel my hair in the perfect spike, spray on some cologne that makes all the girls go crazy on me, and pull on a simple t-shirt that shows off my toned chest, and then my phone pings with a message. I ignore it at first, assuming it's some girl I hooked up with before, asking to come over and I'm sure as hell not interested.

It's kind of a pact I have made with myself that I will never hook up with the same girl again. I don't have a big reason for that. It's just that it would be kind of boring. I deserves better, after all.

And there are plenty of girls out there in the market anyways. So why hook up with the same one twice? Half of the fun is in discovering their pleasure points anyway. Every one of them has it at different places and I love the chase. I love to lure a new girl every night and have some fun with her for a while.

I bite my lip and run my hand through my hair, suddenly in a mood. I'm about to leave when my phone pings again. This time I decide to check, just in case she's sent nude photos, too. If a girl sends me nude photos, I stop and appreciate them. I'm a simple guy like that. To my surprise, it isn't some chic. Instead, it's my best friend, Jasper, informing me about a party.

Jasper: Hey man, it's someone's birthday party today. Wanna come?

I roll my eyes at the message. Why do I have a feeling this is going to be boring as a five-year-old's birthday party? I quickly text him back.

Me: Who?

Jasper: I don't know, man. Mom said we have to go. It's someone important.

Me: As long as I have a chance of getting some chick.

Jasper: Who would go with your ugly ass, huh?

I chuckle at his message. He asked for it.

Me: Ugly ass, huh? That's not what your sister said last night when I made her scream my name loud enough for everyone in the neighborhood to hear.

Jasper: I don't have a sister, Tyler.

I laugh again. This little bitch.

Me: Shhhh, you are killing my vibe.

Jasper: Whatever. See you at the party. Don't forget your willy, baby. You know how much you need it.

Me: Bitch!

After I send the last text, I shake my head in amusement. That's what best friends do. Insult and tease the fuck out of each other, but when someone else tries to say anything to the other, we go ballistic and defensive.

I've known Jasper my entire life. We were inseparable even as kids. And why not? We are the future Alpha and Beta. So naturally, to run the pack in a better way, we have to get along well.

I open my bedside drawer and take a few condoms out, tucking them in my jeans. Picking up my phone, I grin to myself. I have a party to attend.

"So are you officially turning into a nun now?" Jasper, the bitch, says, sitting on the chair next to mine.

I roll my eyes and flip him off. "Just because I haven't grinded into a cute butt yet, doesn't mean I'm not going to."

"Yeah, right. All you've done since you've come here is drink and stare at space."

I take a sip of my third beer. He's right. I haven't even flirted with anyone yet. When I came to this party, I was all up for getting some cute chick. But now I'm kind of brooding in the corner like my bitch died or something.

"I don't know, man. My wolf is kind of off right now," I tell him truthfully.

My wolf, Chase is kind of restless. He's never been thrilled at the idea of me hooking up. To him, it's like infidelity to our future mate but I don't care. Today, however, it's different. Instead of constantly whining about not having a mate, he is practically jumping up and down my mind, frantically looking for something. Only he knows what's wrong with him.

Jasper has a concerned expression for a second which immediately morphs into a teasing one but before he can say anything, his name is called and he looks behind.

A girl wraps her arms around his neck from behind and whispers something in his ear with a seductive look on her face. Jasper smirks immediately and gives me a triumphant look.

I roll my eyes. This is definitely the girl he is going to hook up tonight. She is exactly like his type, all curves with perky ass and boobs.

We both usually go for the same kind of girls but the only difference is that he likes tall girls, whereas I go for any type as far as they have a body that bangs.

I'm not into virgins, though. Not at all. I have hooked up with a few before, and they were nothing but high maintenance. 'Taking care' of some girl who I won't be seeing after the night is not what I mean by a hook up. I might be a jerk but I don't care.

"Seriousły, Chase. What the fuck is wrong with you?" I ask my wolf who has started howling in my head.

"Mate," Chase says, panting.

I roll my eyes mentally. "Can you stop obsessing over our imaginary mate for a while, Chase? We don't have one, so chill."

I turned eighteen last month, and dad threw a huge party, celebrating the fact that the future Beta has become eighteen. The purpose of the party was simple. Just like every other parent out there, he wanted me to find my mate. He invited the entire pack and some important people from the neighboring packs as well. Everyone expected me to find my mate that night.

I didn't but it wasn't a big deal, though. I was kind of glad about it because mates mean commitment and I'm not looking for one right now. Commitment scares me, and for someone who's never been in a relationship, I really don't want to start now. I'm too young, anyway. I want to enjoy my life right now. My mate can wait.

"You disgust me!" Chase says, scoffing in my head. "I don't care about what you think. I can sense her here. Get your lazy ass up from this place and get moving. Explore this place as much as you can. We have to catch a whiff of her scent."

I roll my eyes but oblige anyways. I don't want him to be whining about this later. He'll learn his lesson when we return mateless, anyway.

Walking around the house I surprisingly don't look at or flirt with other girls. Maybe I'm intrigued, too. Is my mate really here?

I'm nearing the dance area when suddenly everywhere goes dark. Everyone groans in annoyance. It's a power cut.

I sigh. Power cuts are unusual, but not unheard of. Anytime now though, the generators would be switched on and the light will come back. I'm hoping whoever owns this house invested in a generator, though.

"Owwww!" I hiss when a body collides with mine and I rub my arm. "Watch out!" I say to the person but it is soon followed by a soft apology.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry. . ." she cuts herself off with a gasp as her skin touches mine and I feel sparks ignite in my arm.

My eyes widen as I feel them and Chase howls in joy inside of me. I have found my mate?

Her hand reaches out to touch my face in the dark and I inhale sharply. The tingles I felt spread from my face to my toes and I can't say I hate them.

But just when I open my mouth to ask who she is, the lights come back on and I see her face.

"You?" I bellow angrily, pushing her off me.

She gasps at my push and falls on the floor like she wasn't expecting it. I don't feel an ounce of regret, though. She deserves it.

"Keep your hands off me, you bitch!" I say as I almost spit at her.

She is still in shock, her eyes on the floor when I give her a disgusted glance and walk off. To hell with being mates.
