Chapter 2

Kriiiiiiiiiingggg~ Kriiiiiiiiiingggg~ 

sunod sunod ang tunog ng alarm ko. Napabalikwas ako ng bangon ng makitang alas-syete na ng umaga.

“Late na ako! May presentation pa ako ng 9 am. Patay ako kay Sir Dio nito.”

Nagmadali akong naligo at nagbihis. Hindi ko na nakuhang mag-almusal sa sobrang pag-mamadali.

“You are late.” malamig na tono ng boss ko ang tumambad sa akin. Nakapamewang siya sa conference room at kasalukuyang nag-da-dry run ang team para sa presentation mamaya.

“Aia, ngayon ka pa talaga na-late? Alam mo namang ikaw ang mag-pe-preside later.” tumingin siya sa orasan at halos malapit na mag-alas nueve.

“Team, you may go out for a while and refresh. And you, Aia. Stay here. Give me a good wrap up of the presentation. You are lucky enough that the client reschedule the meeting after lunch.”

Lumabas ang mga kasamahan ko at sinenyasan ako ng mga kasama ko na thumbs up pang palakas ng loob.

“Alright, Aia. Isipin mo ako yung investor. Go ahead.” sabi ni Sir Dio.

“U-uhm.” Bakit ba kasi kinakabahan ako sa harap ng lalaking ito. Tumataas ang kilay niya at nagsimulang bumakas ang pagka-irita sa mukha niya. Inayos ko ang sarili ko.

‘Alright. Good morning Sir, I am Aliana Fernandez, one of the property development officer from DVF Group of Companies.” sabi ko ng nakataas ang noo ko at pilit inilalagpas sa paningin ko ang mata ko sa aming CEO.

“What makes you happy, sir?” binato ko ang isa sa mga linyahan ko pag nag-aalok ako ng property or any product from our company.

“I-is that necessary to answer that childish question?” iritang sabi ni Sir Dio.

“Of course, sir. Do you want to be happy” dugtong ko pa.

“Aliana, this is a dry run. How come you will convince Mr. Lim to invest with our proposal kung ganyan ang tanong mo.” naiirita na rin ako sa loob ko.

“And how will you be convinced with my proposal if you don’t listen first, Sir. This is a two-way communication. I am the speaker and you are the listener.” pagsusungit ko.

Napayukom ang mga palad niya. “Just go ahead!” nanlilisik na ang mga mata ni Sir Dio sa akin.

“Well, as I have said earlier I want to ask you Sir, what makes you happy?” sabay ngiti ko sa kaniya.

“U-uhmm. For me? My happiness is to have at least 8 hours of sleep a day but I couldn’t afford to do so. Also, I want to spend my time with my family for at least once a month, but you know I am a busy man.” seryoso niyang sagot.

“Sir, look at these photos. Is it relaxing? Is the view feeding your soul?” nakangiti muli ako sa lalaking nasa harap ko.

“Yes.” pagsang-ayon niya. Malamlam ang mga mata nito. Hindi ko alam kung seryoso ba siya sa mga bagay na pinapagawa niya sa akin ngayon.

“AVA RESORT.” padiin kong sinabi ang titulo ng proposal ko.

“It is a 10-hectare land near the beach and sea side of Zambales, it will be a Beach Resort soon. The target completion date will be last quarter of 2022. It will promote a safe haven and relaxation spot for prospect tourist. This is where family can get a quality time for each other, like what you have said, Sir. You need rest with your family.”

Patuloy ako sa pagsasalita..

"Ava Fajardo. She is the main inspiration of this project. She is the late CEO of DFVGC. She is very warm when it comes to people, like the intent of the place, we are ensuring that you will be having a  very homey feeling when you enter the place."

Nawawala ang kaba ko. Tumayo ako ng mas maayos. 

"There will be varieties of rooms, outdoor activities and child-friendly features in AVA RESORT. As you can see in the site development plan, we promote sustainable and green culture."

“We aim to be one of the best resorts here in the Philippines. That is why we are here in front of you. We are DVF Group of Companies. We elevate your needs.”

Natapos ko ang dry run presentation ko ng may ngiti sa labi. Nakatingin lang sa akin si Sir Dio. Makahulugan at parang namamangha siya sa ginawa ko.

 Clap~ Clap~ Clap~ 

Nagulat ako sa tatlong palakpak na narinig ko. May lalaking lumabas sa back door ng conference room, ang aming investor. Si Mr. Lim.

“Alright Dio, I am looking forward to this resort ha? Don’t disappoint me.” nakangiting sabi ni Mr. Lim. Nag-shake hands sila na tanda ng closed na ang deal.

“Congratulations, iha. You did a great job. Kundi ka PDO, I assumed that you are the architect of this resort. Hahahaha!” bati sa akin ng investor.

"Thank you so much, Mr. Lim. I have to go, Sir. I assure that your investment to this place will not be put in vain." sabi ko ng nakangiti at umalis sa harap nilang dalawa.

Inililigpit ko na sana ang laptop at projector nang maramdaman kong may lumapit sa kinatatayuan ko.

“Meet me at my office.” pabulong na sabi ni Sir Dio at inabot niya ang pamilyar na card.

OFFICE. 8PM. So overtime na naman ako mamaya after ko ma-close ang deal na ilang buwan ko pinaghirapan, wala pa ring pahinga. Gusto ko din ng pahinga kagaya ng amo ko.

Kumatok ako sa pintuan ng office niya.

“Come in.” Sabi ni Sir Dio

“Uhmmm. Yes sir, may kailangan po kayo sa akin? Tanong ko.

“Congratulations sa presentation mo kanina. It is the actual presentation, Aia. I just pushed you hard so we can get Mr. Lim. By the way, I approved your on-site visitation at Zambales with ME. Para yun ocular visit ng mga design at construction team. We need to be there this coming Friday. We will spent a week there so be ready.” walang emosyon niyang sabi.

“I also contacted the architect-in-charge for the project. He’s my cousin and my childhood bestfriend as well, Ino.” may inabot siyang folder sa akin.

“Alam kong under board ka ng Bachelor of Science in Architecture, at alam kong maalam ka when it comes to those things. I know you can handle this. Review everthing okay? Do advance research kasi minsan walang kwenta si Ino eh, lalo na pag nakakita ng babae so we need to have back-up plan for this.” lumalalim ang mga tingin niya sa akin.

“O-okay sir, yun lang po ba?” akma na akong aalis nang higitin niya ang mga braso ko.

“Stick with me pag nasa Zambales tayo, I just have no choice but to hire Ino. I knew him very well. Okay?” napatango na lamang ako sa sinabi niya.

"Lastly, focus on your job, ayaw ko ng patulog-tulog habang andon tayo. This will be my baby project, kaya ayaw ko mapahiya sa investors. Let me remind you that is 6 years in the making and my sister, Ava is the main inspiration for all of this." Seryoso ang mga mata niya.

Ito na naman ang boss kong masyadong masungit, naturingang bachelor ng pamilya nila pero hindi marunong ngumiti man lang kahit kaunti.
