AUTHORS POV

The brown mahogany desk sat under an arched window that looked out onto the courtyard. Evening’s golden sun cast lazy stripes across the Persian rug. The clock ticking silently as Don Pedro paced slowly behind his ornate chair, fingers steepled as he stared at the rich red drapes. He wore an immaculate tailored suit, but today it seemed fitted only to a man waging war with his own heart.

Franco, stepped through the tall doors. He closed them quietly, glancing momentarily at the floor before approaching.

“Sir,” he began, voice steady.

Pedro whirled, eyes blazing behind tailored glasses. “What’s happened?”

Franco swallowed. “I… we’ve tried everything. Her records… are gone.”

Pedro’s heart thudded. He rushed across the room and seized the edge of the desk.

Franco nodded. “All of it – employment, health, banking – wiped clean as though she never existed in Monterrey.”

AUTHORS POVThat afternoon, Tessa found Clarissa in the farmhouse kitchen—the very heart of the estate—kneading dough for bread, the simple act of creation a small comfort to both of them.“Your Mum and Sofia leave tomorrow at first light,” Tessa said gently, watching her friend’s face fall at the news.Clarissa set the rolling pin down. “I don’t oppose but why so sudden, you just came back from Canada and now you are sending them off”“Because they need safety,” Tessa explained. “I have resources now, thanks to my father’s will. England is far from here—and far from Pedro.”Clarissa’s eyes filled with tears. She hugged Sofia close. “Thank you for them—and for me.”Tessa walked across the kitchen floor and took Clarissa’s hands in hers. “I need you here with me. I can’t do this alone.”Clarissa nodded. “I will stay. All you just have to do is tell me what you want from me and I will do it”Tessa squeezed her friend’s hands. “I trust you more than anyone.”Clarissa blew her nose. “I am

AUTHORS POVAUTHORS POVThat evening, in Don Ramón’s study—his beloved office at the family estate—Tessa spread the will and related documents across a large oak desk. AUTHORS POVA pale winter sun filtered through bleak grey clouds as Tessa stood at the edge of the cemetery grounds, the soft crunch of frost underfoot mingling with the low murmur of the mourners. She wore a simple black coat and a veil tucked into her hair, though no one truly knew she was there. She was hidden among the guests—her eyes fixed on the closed casket resting on the polished wooden stand. Two years of battling leukaemia had left Don Ramón frail, his once-strong frame diminished by hospital stays and treatments. Yet his spirit had never faded, and now the man who had saved her life had at last fallen silent. Tessa’s chest constricted with grief as the priest in his black cassock began the service.“Dearly beloved,” the priest said, voice soft but firm. “We gather here today to commit Ramón Moretti to his final rest. He lived a life of sacrifice, repentance, and love for his family.”Tessa’s throat tightened, tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. She bowed her head, c

AUTHORS POV“Then,” said Don Ramon, reaching into a drawer and pulling out a thick black folder, “you follow this plan.”He handed it to her. She took it, fingers brushing the cool leather. Opening the folder, her eyes scanned the first few pages. It was more than just a plan. It was a blueprint of vengeance.“You’ll leave quietly,” Don Ramon explained. “No one must know where you’ve gone. I have gotten someone to delete your records and create a new identity for you. Let Pedro think you’re gone forever. Let him believe the guilt is buried. That you are buried.”Tessa nodded slowly. “He already thinks I’m weak.”“Then let him,” said Don Ramon. “The dead can’t hurt him. But the resurrected can.”“In Canada,” he continued, “you’ll live under a new name. I’ve arranged for your child to be born in one of the most discreet and secure private hospitals. From there, you’ll attend one of canada’s most prestigious business schools. You’ll learn under assumed identity. I’ve already paid the tui
