"I'm ready to leave," I said while drawing imaginary images on the floor.

I couldn't bring myself to look at his face, or else I might be tempted to stay.

"Already? I just got home."

"I know, but I didn't plan on spending the night in the first place, mom might be worried now."

Alex tucked his hands into his pockets, with a look of reluctance that carved deep into his expression.
