Kevin reaches the office after having a dispute with himself. Self-recognition makes people aware of their mistakes. And Kevin is also going through it. Erin's questions have made him aware of his sins. But he is fighting with himself over his innocence at the same time. His logic is that he is doing it to save himself and it's human nature.
As for Kevin, the real culprit is Edward, not him. Cause if Edward could control himself, he wouldn't have to go through such hardships.
