Chapter 39 | Elusive

By nightfall, Raverine and I were done making sure the cabin was safe from ambush. Even with cyberattacks from our devices, Raverine always tries to close all the loopholes he could possibly close. It was as if Raverine moved his investigation room in this cabin within a few hours. If you look at the cabin from afar outside, the cabin doesn’t look occupied since the lights weren’t able to illuminate past the dimmed windows and doors. It was just a haunted cabin like when we came here.

We stayed underground—in the basement—so it will keep the cabin unsuspicious to the outsiders. In the underground, there were rooms and there was much more space than in the cabin upstairs. The place was cozy, built for solace and isolation.

Raverine and I talked about the history of Die Dark Clan and how it started as a group of slaves, frightened by the monarchs and military. Not until they finally ignited a rebellion to assassinate those who threatened them. Vampires were powerful but lack in manpower
