"Oh, yeah," she tittered, and a sheen of sweat broke out on her forehead as her mind raced. "I meant animal blood."

"You reek of lies," Mark pointed out, eyeing her from over his lashes.

Erin's forehead creased, and displeasure washed over her. "Excuse me, I will not have you stand here and insult me."

Mark pressed his lips into a grim line.

"I said humans because I saw two of them sucking each other's faces," Erin lied, glaring at the shadow lord before her.

He cast a look of scepticism at her, twisting his mouth to the side and parting his lips to say a word, but he swallowed his protest, snapping his mouth shut.

"Do you want to call me a liar again?" Erin glowered, pushing her brows up in askance.

Erin watched as Mark stared down at her with a stoic expression etched to his face.
