The estate didn’t feel like home anymore.

Not after the church.

Not after what they had seen.

Elyra stepped out of the car first.

The familiar gates, the polished driveway, the silent staff—it all looked the same.

But it didn’t feel the same.

“They know we went,” she said quietly.

Zevarion closed the car door behind her.

“Yes.”

“No doubt?”

“No.”

Elyra exhaled slowly.

“That means the message wasn’t just at the church.”

“No.”

“It followed us back.”

A pause.

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   The Eyes

The estate didn’t feel like home anymore. Not after the church. Not after what they had seen. Elyra stepped out of the car first. The familiar gates, the polished driveway, the silent staff—it all looked the same. But it didn’t feel the same. “They know we went,” she said quietly. Zevarion closed the car door behind her. “Yes.” “No doubt?” “No.” Elyra exhaled slowly. “That means the message wasn’t just at the church.” “No.” “It followed us back.” A pause. Heavy. Zevarion’s gaze shifted across the estate. Sharp. Observing. Calculating. “They’ve been watching longer than we thought,” he said. Elyra nodded. “And from closer than we assumed.” They walked inside. The moment the doors closed behind them..... the silence changed It wasn’t calm. It wasn’t neutral. It felt… aware. Elyra slowed slightly. “You feel that?” “Yes.” No explanation needed. They stepped into the main hall. Staff moved as usual. Nothing looked ou

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   weight of what we saw

They didn’t speak while leaving. Not inside the basement. Not on the stairs. Not even when the heavy wooden doors of the church creaked open again. The outside air hit differently this time. Not relieving. Not safe. Just… quieter than what they had left behind. Elyra stepped forward slowly, her eyes scanning the empty path. No one. No movement. As if nothing had happened. “He let us go,” she said finally. Zevarion closed the door behind them. “Yes.” “That doesn’t make sense.” “No.” A pause. Elyra turned toward him. “People like that don’t just let you leave.” “They do,” Zevarion said, “when they want something.” Her expression tightened. “And what do they want from us?” Zevarion didn’t answer immediately. Because he didn’t have a clear answer. And he didn’t like that. “Control,” he said finally. “Over what?” A pause. “Over what we do next.” Elyra let out a slow breath. “That means whatever we saw in there…” “…was meant

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   Beneath the silence

The air changed the moment they stepped down. Colder. Heavier. Like the space below the church had been holding its breath for years. Elyra’s hand brushed lightly against the wall as they descended. Rough stone. Damp. Unwelcoming. “Careful,” Zevarion said quietly. “I’m fine.” But her voice came softer than before. The narrow staircase ended in a low-ceilinged corridor. Dim light filtered in from somewhere ahead. Not natural. Not steady. “Someone’s here,” Elyra whispered. “Yes.” Zevarion slowed his steps. Every movement deliberate. Every sound controlled. Elyra stayed close. Closer than before. Her shoulder almost brushing his arm. Neither of them moved away. At the end of the corridor...... a room. Partially lit. Dust floating in the air. A single table. Old wooden chairs. And...... papers. Not scattered. Not abandoned. Placed. Arranged. Elyra’s breath caught. “This isn’t abandoned.” “No.” They stepped ins

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   The Road that remembers

They left without informing anyone else. Not because they were hiding it.....but because saying it out loud would make it heavier.More real. The drive felt different today. Not like the usual quiet between them. Not like the steady calm of routine. This time...it felt like something was waiting at the end of the road.Elyra sat beside him, her gaze fixed outside, watching the city slowly fade into quieter outskirts.Fewer people.Fewer buildings.More silence.“You’ve been here before,” she said.It wasn’t a question.“Yes.”Zevarion didn’t look at her.“How long ago?”“A long time.”“That’s not specific.”“No.”Elyra turned slightly toward him.“You don’t want to talk about it.”A pause.“I don’t know what to say yet.”That answer didn’t frustrate her.Not this time.Because she could feel it......this wasn’t avoidance. This was… something unresolved. The road narrowed as they moved further away from the main city.Trees lined both sides now, their branches bending slightly inwar

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   The place no one Talks

The next day didn’t feel like a fresh start. It felt like something waiting.Elyra noticed it the moment she stepped into the hallway. The estate looked the same.Quiet.Orderly.Unchanged.But beneath it.....something had shifted. She walked downstairs slowly, her mind still carrying fragments from the night before. The conversation. The silence. The way things had almost been said.....but weren’t.“Good morning.”Zevarion’s voice came from the dining area.Elyra looked up.He was already there.Of course he was.“Morning,” she replied, stepping in.For a second, neither of them moved.Then.....she took her seat.Across from him.Like always. But it didn’t feel like always anymore.“You slept?” he asked.“A little.”“Not enough.”“You didn’t either.”A pause.“No.”Elyra picked up her cup, but her attention wasn’t on the coffee. It was on him.On the way his gaze didn’t fully leave her.On the way he seemed… more aware.“You’re watching me again,” she said.“I always do.”“That’s

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   Quiet pull

Sleep didn’t come easily. For either of them.Elyra lay on her bed, staring at the ceiling, replaying everything. The warehouse. The chase. The moment outside the door.....when she thought, just for a second, that they wouldn’t make it out.Her fingers tightened slightly against the sheets. But that wasn’t the part that stayed. Not completely. It was him.The way he didn’t hesitate. The way he kept pulling her closer, again and again. The way his voice changed when it mattered.Stay close. Her eyes closed briefly.“That’s becoming dangerous,” she murmured to herself. Not the situation. Not the investigation.Him.She turned to her side.Tried to shut her thoughts down.Tried to focus on something else.It didn’t work.Because something had shifted......and she couldn’t ignore it anymore.Across the hall.....Zevarion hadn’t slept either. He stood near the window, his jacket still on, his mind running through every detail of the day.The setup. The timing. The way they were led into

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   A Step Too Close

Morning came slowly for Elyra. She had barely slept. The anonymous phone call from the night before kept echoing in her head. You’re noticing too much. The words felt like a shadow that followed her everywhere. Even the sunlight streaming through the tall windows of her room couldn’t shake the unea

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   Shadows in the Corridor

The emergency lights flickered weakly along the hallway, casting long, uneven shadows across the walls. The usually bright executive floor of Valeon Group now felt like an entirely different place—quiet, hollow, and unsettling.Elyra stood inside the empty office, her back lightly pressed against t

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   First Crack

The drive to the office that morning felt unusually quiet.Normally, the city streets were filled with the comforting chaos of traffic, honking horns, and rushing people. But inside the black sedan moving through downtown, the silence between Elyra and Zevarion carried its own weight.Elyra sat in

  • Veil Of A Secret Vow   The watchful Silence

The morning at the Vale estate began with an uneasy calm.Sunlight streamed through the tall glass windows of the dining hall, reflecting off the polished marble floors. Everything looked peaceful, almost too peaceful after the chaos of the previous day.Elyra sat quietly at the long dining table,
