Maria's POV

I didn't stop running until I was at the gate, the guards there refused to grant me passage out of the palace so I sat down there, letting the tears run down my face. They didn't pay me any mind and continued about their job like I was not even there.

When it was late, I saw Sophie approaching me with tears in her eyes. She had bruises all over her body and her eyes now held a resentment that had not been there before.

"You are he..."

"Get up and follow me." She said coldly, not minding what I was telling her. I looked closely at her, unable to recognize the stranger in front of me. She was cold and detached, scaring me that something else had gone wrong.

"What is it? Did I do something wrong?" I asked her, moving close to her so the guards would not hear our conversation. Instead, Sophie took a few steps back and crossed her arms. I saw the hungry slashes of the whip and knew without a doubt what Aloha Felix had done to her.
