The sun shone brightly through the window as the day began. Every morning marks the beginning of a new chapter in one's life. Ibrahim sipped his coffee while staring at his tablet screen. He paid close attention to every detail that was written down. He is a cautious individual who does not want to make any careless mistakes. He was scrolling down the I-pad when he heard the door being abruptly open, and he nearly choked. He was about to erupt in rage because he despises it when someone disrupts his concentration. However, his rage subsided as he noticed the person who barged into his office was none other than his best friend, Alan Gray. The only person he had put his faith upon.
Alan exhaled sharply and looked helplessly at Ibrahim. "Are you planning a wedding? What happened? Are you crazy?" asked Alan, looking at the nonchalant man.
Ibrahim is still engrossed in his tablet screen, oblivious to Alan's groans. Is there anyone who can take control of his life? No one.
Alan became irritated because Ibrahim was clearly ignoring him. He walked up to Ibrahim's desk and grabbed his tablet. That took his attention finally!
"Hey!" Ibrahim scowled at his best friend. Alan may be the only one who would have dare to do so because they had been best friends since childhood and know each other like the back of their hands. He'd be six feet under the ground if someone else did this stunt. "Give it back!" Ibrahim yelled.
"Then talk!" Alan inquired, but did not return his tablet.
Ibrahim rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed. "What does it matter if I'm getting married?" he asked calmly.
Alan sat on the couch and placed Ibrahim's tablet on the table. "Don't try to fool me, Ibrahim. I'm sure you have a reason for all of this. Isn't this just a play? You're not going to marry in real life?" asked Alan.
Ibrahim rose from his chair and sat down next to Alan on the couch. "Yes. I have a reason, but I'm going to marry her for real." He stated as if he was genuine with his words. Alan shook his head, puzzled. "Ibrahim! That girl is only 26 years old. There are a lot of celebrities and heiresses lining up for you. How could you fall in love with such a regular girl?"
Ibrahim couldn't stop laughing. Love? What exactly is love? When was the last time he heard this word? "What did you just say, Alan? Fall in love? With whom, her? I don't do stupid things for your information; my prey is Paul Rae. His daughter will merely help me pave the way to catch up with him." said Ibrahim.
"What are your plans?" Alan cannot believe what he is hearing right now. This man, whom he has called his best friend for almost his entire life, is simply too dangerous. "Even if you despise her father, his daughter is innocent; how could you play it with marriage?"
"I could send people right away to kill his entire family, but I won't. I'm not going to get my hands dirty for them. I've got a plan to put him and his associates behind bars." Ibrahim responded forcefully. He is certain of his decision. He has been waiting for this opportunity for many years and will not let it pass him by.
Alan has lost his ability to communicate with Ibrahim. He is a person with a strong mental attitude. He's not going to change his mind once he's made up his mind. "Do you really don’t want to think about it again?"
Ibrahim's face darkened. "No. I've been planning this for months, long before I met with Paul Rae about marrying his daughter. There is no going back."
Alan is perplexed for a while. "How long ago? What exactly do you mean?"
Ibrahim smirked as he reflected on how he could have duped Paul's Rae company into a total disaster. "Remember how I told you to look for investment brokers?"
Alan simply nodded. "I did, but it was a year ago. I assumed you were intelligent enough to manage your stock without the assistance of a broker."
"It was the start of the game." Ibrahim replied with a smile.
Alan widened his eyes and fixed his gaze on Ibrahim. "No way!"
Ibrahim chuckled with delight. "The broker and I reached an agreement. If he can persuade Paul to make a large investment, I'll pay him a commission and let him manage some of my equities and bonds transactions. Isn't this a great deal? I get exactly what I want. He earns extra money and has a job."
Alan exhaled a sigh. This far exceeded his expectations. "In the end, Paul Rae will lose nearly his entire fortune. Am I correct?" asked Alan.
Ibrahim smiled as he looked at his best friend's smartness. "Yes. He is a greedy businessman who doesn't know how to plan, so that when the stock price rises, he places his company's emergency fund there. I'm sure he's in his office right now, pondering what he should do to keep his company from being liquidated, and I was relieved to learn that he's selling his company's shares to raise funds. I'm curious if he's considering raising funds through crowdfunding."
"You act as if you're unaware of the situation and approach him as an investor. Is that the setting?" Alan inquired once more. Trying to figure out what this person is up to.
Ibrahim gave a nod. "Yes. When my secretary informed them that I was going to buy their shares, he thought that heaven had answered his prayer. He'll have no idea how well this scenario has been planned. When I buy his shares, I will become the majority shareholder in his company, and he will be under my control. Except for me, no one is interested in their share. My only condition, however, is that I marry their daughter."
Alan is still perplexed by what Ibrahim is planning. Despite his intelligence, he is opposed to marrying someone else's daughter in order to exact his revenge. "You are already the largest shareholder. What has this got to do with his daughter? His daughter will be the victim of your revenge!"
Ibrahim's head shook. "Being a major shareholder in his small company is insufficient, Alan. More bullets are required to attack him and his comrades. As I previously stated, his daughter will simply be a means for me to obtain what I desired from him." He is so cruel.
"Then what is your justification for marrying his daughter? If he just agreed to that, it's impossible. He's not going to sell his daughter to you like that, is he?" Alan inquired, bewildered.
Ibrahim laughed once more. "I just said that my late foster father left a testament stating that he will pass down all of his assets, property, and wealth to me, with the only condition that I marry someone. It's unfortunate that Paul simply assumed this without realizing that my foster father had left all of his wealth to me while he was still alive."
Alan is still taken aback by their talk. This man is both intelligent and dangerous. He had no right to drag an innocent girl into his ridiculous game. He is, without a doubt, a heartless person. Hatred and grudges have blinded his heart. Alan does not want to interfere with his game, but he does not like the idea of marriage. Throughout his vengeance journey, he will only cause harm to innocent people, and will that girl be, okay?
Anna felt as if her entire world was collapsing around her. She had never imagined herself marrying a stranger in her life. Furthermore, he is one of the wealthiest people in the country. It's got to be a joke. She may aspire to marry someone wealthy, but Ibrahim Saunders is not on her list. Because of his arrogant and ruthless behavior, he is well-known throughout the country. He is the last person Anna would have imagined as her husband. "Are you serious, Dad? You're not serious, are you?" Anna asked the same question twice that it was driving her insane that her father still remained silent. He is also depressed because Ibrahim agreed to marry his daughter. Anna's tears have begun to well up in her eyes and are ready to seep. She may be 26 years old, but she does not want to leave her family not yet. They couldn't possibly expect her to marry a stranger. "I despise you all." Anna sobbed and shut herself away in her room. Why is the world so cruel to her? She only wants to marry s
10 weeks prior to the wedding It was a busy day in the city, with a lot of people going back and forth. The subway station is teeming with people, and the bus stop is no exception. Anna looked down at her watch, which read twelve in the afternoon. She sighed softly because she despises getting tangled up in the crowd. She would rather spend more time on her campus than be in the crowd. She took a step back and decided to remain in the faculty lounge. She pulled out her iPad and sketchbook. To keep busy, she scrawls in her sketchbook while listening to music. Art is not only something she enjoys, but it is also her passion. Where words fail to explain, art speaks. Furthermore, art is not what you see but what you make others see. Drawing is one of her specialties. She is a senior in high school. Although she is a gifted student, she despises going to class, especially in the morning. She may have passed the exam with flying colors, but her tardiness in class lowered her final record.
6 weeks prior to the wedding It's been a month since Anna met Ibrahim, and her wedding day is so close. It'll be here in less than two months. Anxious? Yes, she is. She believes she is on the edge from where if she falls, she is not going to be saved by anybody. Every day that passes is like a ticking time bomb for her. She didn't have the courage to tell her friends about her marriage, and she hasn't told her boyfriend, Kai, either. This is insane, and it's getting worse when she notices a black lavish car parked in front of her university building. She has been spending a lot of time on campus lately because she needs to graduate as quickly as possible or else, she will have to wait until next year. “Anna!” Anna was startled by a squeal and turned around to look at the source of the voice. Jacob Murray, her best friend, met him at a club near their university. They have different faculty majors, but they both have one thing in common: they enjoy getting drunk, and alcohol instantl
4 weeks prior to the weddingAnna checked her appearance in the mirror in front of her. She etched a wry grin before grabbing her bag and leaving the room. She went downstairs and found that her family was having dinner."Where are you going?" Rachal, her mother, inquired as she peered at her daughter, who was ready to leave.Anna giggled a little. "Kai is on his way." It's no surprise she's so pleased.Paul, his father, furrowed his eyebrows. “Have you not yet separated from him? Ibrahim will not be pleased if he finds out," he nudged his daughter.Ethan attempted to soothe his father because he did not want to put his younger sister under lots of pressure. She was already going through a lot because of them. He wanted to remove a little burden from her shoulder. “Dad. Anna must have a plan.”When her father mentioned Ibrahim's name, Anna's smile faded. She was well aware that their wedding was only a month away, and Ibrahim had already given wedding gifts to her family. "I know. I'm
A week prior to the wedding Loud, booming laughs reverberated throughout the entire hall as it was the commencement ceremony for visual arts students. Anna grinned as she finally got to wear the black gown with the cap. She is proud of herself for finally graduating, even though she didn't have the highest-grade point, but still she doesn't have to attend the early morning lectures and sleepless assignments deadlines. When her name was called, she walked confidently to the stage and grinned at her family, who were watching her from a distance. Her parents were sitting in the front row, watching her with a proud smile. After the ceremony, all students were allowed to leave the hall, and the majority of them went to the campus field to take photos with their families and friends. They should collect as many memories as they can, because, why not? All of them earned this accomplishment through their sweat and tears. Ethan gave a bouquet of daisies to his sister and planted a kiss on he
Anna had never imagined that her wedding ceremony would be this crowded, and that she would be surrounded by so many people she barely knows. Her family did invite some of her relatives, but majority of the guests were new to her. She can tell by the way they dress that they are not just wealthy but filthy rich and powerful. Furthermore, because his company is spread all over the world, she noticed a lot of foreigners who flew all the way here just to attend their wedding. Ibrahim must be a significant figure. Throughout the ceremony, she was instructed to remain by Ibrahim's side to greet the guests, and a new fact she learned about him is that he is extremely intelligent. She was amazed to learn that her husband could speak four different languages. He speaks Japanese, Chinese, French, and Spanish. She realized it when she overheard him conversing with the guest in their language, which she barely understood. She was surprised seeing the power this man holds over the people here.Sh
"Welcome home, Mr. and Miss Saunders, and congratulations for your wedding. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love." a middle aged woman welcomed them as soon as the door opened.Anna's mouth dropped open in surprise when she arrived at her new home. She could see a line of maids waiting to receive them. This is completely insane, totally different from what she expected. How wealthy is this man? Because she was unfamiliar with this type of treatment, Anna too bowed back casually, which irked Ibrahim slightly."They're maids, and we don't bow to them." Ibrahim spoke haughtily.Anna scoffed and turned to face the others. So, this is how the wealthy people live? She was impressed even before she stepped into his yard. The yard in front of his house is so large that she could see a flower garden and a gazebo.“Wow.” She murmured softly when she looked around the house. His house is even larger than a mansion. The sleek and modern interior is extremely appealing. The furniture d
A day at Ibrahim's house is extremely difficult for her. She was bored no matter how hard she tried to find something to do. This house is big, but she couldn't find anything to keep herself entertained. It's so suffocating that she has no one to talk to because maids are sacred to her. She wondered how Ibrahim managed to live alone in this house. She decided to spend her time in the garden, goofing around to pass the time."Auntie" Anna called the maid, the same one who welcomed them yesterday. She has a glass of orange juice. She is really dumbfounded as to why her head is always bowed down, as she doesn’t dare look at Anna."May I ask you a question?" Anna inquired. The maid raised her head to look at Anna. "Indeed, Miss Saunders."Anna smiled as she patted the seat next to her. "I don't understand, why are you so reverent of me? Do I look ugly or strange?" She inquired, intrigued. In fear, the maid bowed to her, again. "Certainly not, Miss Saunders." She responded. Anna is more be
