Chapter 2

Author: Sunny Piglet
Aurora chased after me and blocked my path.

"Rowan, do you even know what you’re saying?"

I let out a short scoff and laid out my terms bluntly. "The house goes to you. The car goes to me. The law firm shares are split fifty-fifty.

"Draft the divorce agreement according to what I said. Then we’ll go to the civil affairs office today and finalize the paperwork."

Aurora’s eyes widened in disbelief.

I thought she would explode in anger, but instead her attitude softened. She opened a drawer and took out cotton swabs and gauze.

"I know you feel wronged in this situation, but it’s only temporary. Once Elara wakes up, we’ll naturally separate. Rowan, can’t you try to understand my position? Please stop making a scene."

The moment the cotton swab dipped in disinfectant moved toward my wound, I turned my head away.

"I don’t have time to watch you put on this fake act. Hurry up and draft the agreement. Don’t delay my second marriage."

Aurora’s hand froze, and a flash of irritation crossed her eyes.

At that moment, Kieran suddenly dropped to his knees in front of me. "Rowan, this is all my fault. Aurora loves you. Please stop saying things that upset her."

Then he bowed toward Aurora. "Aurora, thank you for all the guidance you’ve given me these past years. From now on, you and Rowan should live your lives together. Let’s cut ties completely."

He stood up and turned to leave, his face filled with determination.

Aurora immediately panicked. She rushed forward and wrapped her arms tightly around Kieran’s waist, her voice trembling.

"Kieran, I can’t live without you. I won’t let you go!"

After saying that, she turned back to me, her face deathly cold. There was no warmth left in her eyes.

"If you insist on threatening me with divorce, then you can leave with nothing. Rowan, you’re nothing more than a freeloading drunk. Yet you still dare to covet my property. What kind of ridiculous dream are you having?"

The disgust in her eyes was unmistakable. She looked at me in the same way someone might look at a pile of rotting garbage.

A freeloading drunk.

What a cruelly ironic phrase.

She had forgotten that back then, I sold the house my parents left me so she could have her first startup capital.

She had also forgotten that she won her very first case because I drank until my stomach bled at a business gala to secure the client for her.

Eight years together. Countless days and nights spent caring for her with everything I had. All of it meant nothing compared to Kieran’s single line: "cut ties completely."

If that was the case, this was the end of the line.

After taking a deep breath, I spoke to her calmly, "Aurora, in that case, I’ll see you in court. Falling in love with you was my mistake, but I'll take back everything that belongs to me."

After saying that, I walked away without looking back, leaving Aurora’s furious shouting behind me.

Aurora and Kieran were held in custody while awaiting trial. The next time I saw Aurora was ten days later.I had accompanied Elara to the police station to sign some documents when we happened to run into Aurora being escorted toward a prison transport vehicle. In just ten days, she looked as though she had aged ten years. The sharp confidence and polished composure of the star lawyer were completely gone from her face. When she saw me, she froze for a moment before lowering her head.I stepped aside to pass her, with no intention of speaking, but just as we brushed past each other, she suddenly grabbed my arm. Her fingers were cold, and her voice trembled slightly."Rowan… do you still hate me?"I paused and let out a quiet sigh.During the eight years we had been together, I had stayed by her side as she rose from nothing to the top of the legal profession. We endured countless difficult days together. However, after achieving success, we had drifted apart. Now she was a p

"Isn't it already too late to say that?"You cheated with Kieran, allowed him to beat me, and even smashed the only keepsake my mother left behind. Even in court, you told me to bark like a dog just to amuse him."Aurora, I’m not a fool. I know how people truly feel about each other. I know there was never a place for me in your heart."Besides, Elara is my wife now. You and Kieran tried to harm her. As her husband, the only thing I want is for the two of you attempted murderers to face the consequences. Why would I ever drop the case just because you asked?"Aurora’s eyes instantly reddened. She shook her head repeatedly as tears streamed down her face."Rowan, it’s not like that. I do care about you. I really did love you."It was Kieran. He wanted to use his looks to climb the ladder. He seduced me first, and that’s why I made that mistake…"Rowan, it hasn’t been easy for me to get where I am today. I can’t go to prison. I can’t lose everything. Please, for the sake of what w

The moment those words left my mouth, the room fell into a sudden, suffocating silence.Aurora and Kieran’s faces turned instantly pale.Elara let out an annoyed snort. "Stop pretending. Back then, you two were the ones who set me up and pushed me off that building, weren’t you?"Aurora’s expression flickered with panic, but she quickly forced herself to calm down."You… Don’t talk nonsense. Back then, it was one of my competitors who pushed you. It had nothing to do with us. The case was already closed years ago. The evidence was conclusive. Stop trying to pin your crimes on us!"Elara didn’t argue. Instead, she pulled out her phone and opened a surveillance video. The footage was blurry, but it still clearly recorded the entire process of their attack.Back then, Elara had discovered the affair between the two of them.Afraid she would expose them, Aurora and Kieran had planned to silence her permanently. Afterward, they fabricated clues and shifted the blame entirely onto one

Kieran and Aurora were completely stunned. It turned out Elara’s family had secretly installed cameras in her bedroom, afraid that something might happen to her while she was unconscious. Because of that, every one of Kieran and Aurora’s secret encounters had been recorded in perfect detail. The reason the family hadn’t revealed it earlier was that Kieran had been taking care of Elara for the past two years. No one knew when she might wake up, so they hadn’t wanted to confront him with the footage. Now Elara had awakened. On the night of my wedding, she had already begun showing signs of regaining consciousness. She knew perfectly well that it was Kieran who personally delivered her to another man’s bed. Naturally, she had no reason to let them off.Public opinion flipped instantly. After seeing the footage Aurora had presented, people in the courtroom began openly condemning the two of them."A so-called star lawyer? She’s even more shameless than animals in heat. Just looking

Kieran’s vegetative fiancee, Elara Holt, suddenly came skipping over and wrapped her arms around mine."Long time no see, Ms. Sterling… and your little lackey."Seeing Elara standing there lively and full of energy, Kieran looked as if he couldn’t believe his eyes. "Elara… you… How did you suddenly recover?"Elara let out a cold snort and rushed forward, slapping him hard across the face.Aurora’s expression instantly darkened when she saw Kieran get hit. "Elara, Kieran has taken care of you wholeheartedly all these years. What right do you have to hit him!"As she spoke, she raised her hand, about to slap Elara in retaliation.I grabbed her wrist and shoved her to the ground. "You dare hit my wife right in front of me? Aurora, do you think I’m dead?"Lying on the floor, Aurora gritted her teeth and glared at me. "Rowan, even if you want to make me jealous, you don’t have to come up with such a ridiculous joke. Elara is clearly Kieran’s fiancee. How could she possibly be your wi

To force me to surrender, Aurora issued a blacklist against me across the entire legal industry. No lawyer dared take my divorce case or handle the division of property between us.She proudly came to my hospital bed to gloat. "Rowan, I’ll give you one last chance. As long as you promise not to make things difficult for Kieran, you can still remain my husband. Otherwise, not only will you walk away with nothing, but I’ll make sure you end up behind bars."Her eyes were filled with the arrogance of someone in power.I let out a cold laugh, picked up the divorce agreement I had already prepared, and flung it straight at her face."Aurora, I'm telling you, this divorce is happening. No matter how capable you think you are, when the time comes, you'll be the one walking away with nothing."Seeing that I refused to back down, Aurora completely lost her temper. "Rowan, remember this. You forced my hand. When the day comes that your reputation is ruined, even if you kneel in front of m
