I’d rather die than be this guy’s mate.

Riftan teasingly stared at me with his aquamarine eyes and rested his chin against his palms on the table. I checked my chains to see if they were loose, but unfortunately, they were fastened completely. I rolled my eyes and looked at him once again.

“If you think you can kill me by destroying those chains, then you’re mistaken,” he dissented.

“And what if I can?” I leaned at the table, smiling impishly.

“Why don’t you try?” he raised a brow and chuckled bitterly.

I yanked my arm, but the chains wouldn’t budge. I gritted my teeth as I could hear his soft amusement. Glaring at him, I kicked his leg with my foot. He stopped.

“Weren’t you eating steak just earlier?” I raised an eyebrow. “And now you want a braised one?”

“So what? Why do you care? Are you the one who’s going to prepare my food?”

“Bastard,” I hissed. “You made her do it so that you can have more time to piss me off, don’t you?”
