"Please! I did nothing! I am innocent Alpha!" I wailed even in chains. The moist ground is seeping through my white dress and torturing my bones, and I'm on the verge of collapsing but something just keeps me going.
Is it my remaining sanity? Or that soronouse voice that keeps whispering to me from a distance that's not so far from my head?
"You spiteful Omega!" He spits on my face, his big hand grabbing a fistful of my hair and pulling. He pulls so hard, I'm forced into a shock.
Alpha Maverick, my supposed mate. We were bonded together for love and eternity before the moon goddess under the brightest crescent Moon ever sighted in years.
But I'd known that that day was a joke as the moon mocked me. Because I knew our union wasn't of love but of hatred.
"No mercy!" "Kill her!" "Off with her head!" "She's bad blood!" "She will rein havock onto our lands!"
The pack members chants from below as I remained on the moist ground with my knees and palms flat on the ground.
"Silence!" Alpha Maverick commands and like a smoke stretching through an empty space, the entire place goes silent instantly. "I called everyone out here today after finding out your Luna's true identity! She is of the courtesan blood! And most importantly, she is the direct descendant of Joan the Slayer!"
The crowd goes into an uproar again, about how I'm not supposed to keep breathing.
Am I really going to die like this? I am the last survivor after my family's assassination and I'm just going to die like this?
I thought I found a home when I married the Alpha.
"We all know what havock her entire ancestors brought upon this pack and many more!" Alpha Maverick says and I can imagine his teeth gritted in pure anger.
The sight of him terrified me.
"Kill her!" Someone screams from the crowd.
"No," he replies "she deserves to suffer immensely. Lyra will be banish from the entire South!"
"Yes!!" The crowd erupts in cheers.
I felt the chains binding my hands and legs pull, pushing me down. Alpha Maverick comes over and Yanks my face up by my hair. By now I can barely see his angry face properly due to all the dirt in my eyes.
"Mating with you was the biggest mistake I ever made" he growls in my face before pushing me down on the floor.
When I tried to look up again, I'm awarded with a punch to my face, knocking me unconscious.
I find myself struggling to breath some time later, only to discover that some plastic has been put over my head. I fall back into unconsciousness.
It must have been several hours, Or days later. I'm feeling numb and weak. I'm peeling my eyes open to a clear sky. My head is heavy but I cannot move.
I fall unconscious again.
I try again. To open my eyes, this my eyes feels more weaker. I try to get up but there's chains restricting me.
After a while I manage to stand up.
I find myself inside a thick forest, chains bounding me to some deep rooted plants behind me.
Summing up energy, I tried to break free but it's impossible.
Where am I? Did Alpha Maverick succeed in taking me away from the pack?
Just then, I sensed presence around me. I tried to perceive the scent of the intruders but it's harder with all the blood and dirt clouding my senses.
I don't know where the strength came from but I'm rising to my feet now even though they're still in chains and I'm assuming a fighting stance.
The presence I sensed isn't of a lycan or human. It was something else. Something like a beast.
Because my hair stops just below my neck, it's sticking all over my face smeared with dirt.
There's a low growl coming from every corner of the forest. I don't know what it is but I decide I'm not going to cowl in fear. So I started trying to shift into my wolf form. It's impossible with these chains. I don't know what they're made of but it's restricting my wolf side.
Suddenly, I noticed something jump out of the trees from the side and front. They're having the forms of wolves with glaring red eyes and a much longer and sharper teeth. But they aren't wolves. They don't smell like one.
My eyes changed and my teeth protrudes too as I started to growl calmly.
They start walking towards me with louder growls.
I tried to pull the chains from wherever it's rooted, but it's impossible. There's no way I wouldn't be eaten alive by these creatures.
So I try once again, and pulled with all my might. Thankfully one of the chains comes off with my hand and I swing it around, and landed it on one of the beasts.
It falls back and yelps in pain. This must've angered the rest because they started charging towards me.
I pull the other chain out forcefully and started fighting them.
I felt weaker and weaker the more I fought and luckily, the ones I couldn't kill retreated, leaving me with bites.
Exhausted, I fall back again.
I stir back after a moment and manage to break free of the chains around my ankles.
Then, with the chains still sharked around my wrists, I started walking, unknown to me where I was headed.
My feet are swollen and soar but I continue to walk anyway, hoping that I would come across someone who would help me.
A few times I'd fall down and think that this was it for me; I'm going to die. But after a few moments something seems to calls me back from my trance as I'm peacefully draining away, jolting me back to life with some new found energy.
Then like that I stand up and continue dragging myself ahead.
Soon, I'm gasping for air, my nose frozen from the intense cold.
When I burst out of the forest, I noticed a smoke and fire from a distance. I start gasping for air as the cold etched my skin more.
My pace starts to decrease as the heavy chains slowered me down, and my body felt weaker and weaker as I approached the nearest tent which started to come into view as I followed the direction of the smoke.
When I get closer, I discovered this was some kind of camp? Or pack?
I see movements ahead but I can't put it together.
"Oh my goodness, what's that?" I hear a faint voice from the distance, followed by gasps.
People...... These are people.....
Before I could think of what to do next, I'm falling face down on the snowy ground.
Seconds later I'm feeling myself being moved with urgency, and then I'm landing on somewhere.
I'm trying to hold on but I'm feeling my life slipping away.
"She's going to freeze to death! Where is....." I hear a woman screaming and I don't get the last thing she said. A name? Was she calling someone?
I feel hands all over my body, and I'm still fighting for my life.
"How is she, Celeste?" I hear a different voice now. A masculine voice.
I peel my eyes open slowly to find a man standing far away, at the exit door.
I look away, to my side to find an older woman hovering over me. Her hands are cold on my stomach as she has shredded my clothes already.
"She has been bitten too many times," this woman says.
Then she gasps as her hands stopped below my abdomen.
"She's with child." She adds fearfully.
That was the last thing I heard before losing consciousness.
Thane.Sitting down in the cold with Cleo, and watching the dark creep upon us…It felt like the world had just tipped sideways. After journeying away from the rogues clan for ours, we were now camped outside to spend the night with whatever little shelter we could get.Cleo and I sat on an old log, staring at the fire as it fizzled out, and I swear, I didn’t know I could actually hurt this much without bleeding out.My whole body throbbed, but my heart hurt way worse than my busted ribs and bruised neck.Grief is indeed a sneaky bastard that gets right under your skin and sits heavy with you. I tried to say something to Cleo, open my mouth, but I couldn’t. My throat just slammed shut, like someone jammed a boulder in there. My vocal cord seemed to be blocked and there was no words passing through.Everything fell off. The war was now pointless and it had messed greatly with my sanity. My friend and everyone who lost their life had been sacrificed for nothing.I glanced at Cleo. H
Author’s POV.Thane and his army realized too late that they had indeed got into yet another trap.Defeating the rogue’s that came to attack them at the forefront wasn’t difficult. They broke the border and managed to enter into the clan. The entire clan was thrown into chaos.Villagers ran helter skelter for safety as the battle raged on.They had just broken their defense and charged into the castle when they had the most disturbing roar they’ve had in their entire life.It wasn’t a werewolf howl, neither was it that of a wild dog or any animal they’re familiar with.Yet the intensity of the sound had the hair on their skin standing.Thane and Kane bursted through the chambers to check out the source of the sound but got separated while still in search.Thane found himself in a narrow pathway. His footsteps echoed off the cold stone walls as he navigated the narrow pathway. The air was thick with the scent of dampness and mold. Suddenly, he heard a faint cry in the distance. It soun
Chapter 206Jamica.Lyra’s back was rested on the rock as she squated on the dirt panting frantically. My hand felt moist from the heat of holding her hand.I glanced at my hand for a second before wiping off the sweat on my trousers.I hoped she didn’t notice the disgusted face I made.Glancing at her again, she was still panting heavily, her right hand on her belly button area.I wondered how far gone she had been.Very noble and patriotic of her to still engage in wars in her state. If only I could feel pity for her, but I feel nothing. In a weird it made me worried at how in empathetic I could be.She didn’t deserve any of my empathy, it’s all her fault!Everything that has happened and is still happening now.I was distracted from my thoughts by the weird sounds she was making. At first, I thought it was as a result of the panic state she had been thrown into but the sounds got more gruttal.“What’s wrong?” I asked trying to invoke a caring voice.“My baby, I hit my tummy on the
Just like Jamica said, the fog was only swirling around the front of the entrance of the rogue’s clan.Aside from its build up high above, this area was clean which was increasingly weird.Anyway, the sun was already blazing in the sky, doing its best to fry us all alive. I trotted next to Kane, both our horses kicking up little dust storms with every step. Lyra and Jamica were further up, leading the group pack of warriors we’d scraped together. Some of them rode on horses, while others trudged along on foot, looking all serious and battle-ready.The desert like ground looked rather interesting, unusual shaped rocks everywhere, boulders looking like they’d just rolled down for fun, and jagged bits of stone ready to trip you up if you weren’t watching. The air smelled like sage and juniper so strong you’d think the whole mountain was just one giant seasoning rack. I sucked in a deep breath, letting that cool air chill me out a bit.Kane glanced over at the hills and smirked. “Long ri
Chapter 204Thane."The warriors are wary, we can't keep holding them up here for long. We need to come with a concrete decision," I stated feeling an angry hear creeping up my cheeks.I needn't be told that I might lose it soon if Lyra keeps on being unreasonable and unresponsive."Sounds to me like you've made a decision," she grunted like a stubborn child which is exactly what she is except that she was no child."How can you not see that this is doomed to fail.Cleo and the others have all agreed that we should abort mission. The longer we wait here, the more prone we're to danger. You literally saw what attacked us in the woods, does is it seem human enough to you?" I questioned, eying Lyra quizzically despite myself."You spoke with my comrades behind my back and convinced them to abort mission?" She asked, her eyes seemed to be straining out of their sockets. There she goes again, ignoring the most vial part of the discussion."Yes I did, as much as I didn't want to, I had to.
Chapter 203Lyra.I was leading my crew back to our base where our army have lodged camp, when the silence suddenly explodes. Some creepy sound slicing through the air.It was the kind of moan you'd hear in a nightmare, like someone out there was seriously wounded, maybe gutted or worse. My horse got twitchy too, ears flicking, and honestly, I can't blame her.I yank the reins, and we all stop dead. The noise isn't coming from the fog we’ve been slogging through, but from the other side, way over where this thick forest sits, looking all dramatic with trees sticking up like bony fingers. The whole area has this weird glow because of the mist which was kind of pretty, if you ignored the potential horror that could unfold.I squint, trying to figure out exactly where that sound came from. The rest of the squad were behind me, dead quiet, waiting for me to do something or say something, I guess. Then the groaning comes again, louder. Cold chill ran right down my back.Who the hell is
