"A chance to prove to him that you're not his to toy with" I muttered

She looked deep into my eyes for a moment, but dropped down immediately.

"Trying to read me", I contemplated and giggled "Not bad".

I'm going out now, think about my proposal", I said moving towards the door but suddenly stopped.

'I told you to think about my proposal not cry yourself to death. He isn't worth it", I admonished, stepping out.

°°°

Sofia heaved a sighand stood up to stare at the outside view.

"Wow!!"

A garden caught her attention. There were a lot of flowers there, "He can't possibly own that, can he" she missed to herself.

She dressed up in loose shorts and a light top. She walked out of her room, her gaze going to the room.

"The room that tells the story of my past", I couldn't bring myself to go there, so I just walked away.

I decided to view the garden from up here, when I saw her walk out, she just glanced at the room without making an attempt to go there, while I just chuckled.

"I was actually expecting her to go there", I chuckled again.

Wait, have been chuckling too much this days, I muttered and returned to my icy face.

She got to the garden and the fresh air slapped her face, blowing her hair in the process.

" Super refreshing right?" Lovie asked, walking into the garden with her.

"And you said your boss takes care of this garden" Sofia asked.

Giggles, "it's rather surprising, right? But yes, he does" Lovie replied.

"I walked in and let's out a soft throat clearing sound" and sat by her side.

"Can you get me a book, mafia preferably" She said ignoring my presence.

Lovie bowed and walked out. She came back with the book and Sofia started reading after reminsing about the title for a while.

Lovie stood by the door watching us, I gave a subtle nod and she walked away.

She noticed Lovie moving away and cursed her beneath her breathe for leaving her alone with me while I just chuckled. Again.

"You seem to love reading I said but ignored again". I smirched and stormed out of the room.

°°°

I made it back, just through the door, before asking about her.

Lovie said, "she has been immersed in the book since morning, unable to put it down"

" I met her already asleep and carried her as gently as possible to avoid waking her up".

Almost out if the garden, " as soon as she opened her eyes, she snapped at me to drop her".

"What if u refuse to?" I said,

"Just put me down" she muttered wriggling

"Stay still or I will shut you up with a kiss" I muttered

I snarled when u noticed she suddenly became quiet, I went straight to the dining room.

I dropped her on a chair before settling down to eat.

I suddenly noticed there were shrimps and pineapple juice on the table, I summoned the chef

"I have you a list?, did I not? I asked glaring so hard at the chef.

The chef was terrified by the look I gave him and he knew better than to annune, looking through the table he discovered his mistake and hurriedly took the shrimps and pineapple juice away.

" How did you know am allergic to shrimps and pineapple juice?" She whispered after the chef went away.

"Why are you whispering?" I asked

"Answer the question", she muttered

You don't need to know that, I said

"She hissed and continued eating".

" I stood up after eating and stretched a card to her, yours to use and try working on your sense of fashion" I said walking out.

" Dickhead" she muttered and continued eating, the card suddenly caught her attention.

Jeez, it's the rare golden card owned by just two people in the country she gushes.

°°°

I was working on the contract I signed with Phoebe when she walked in, bet flawless skin beaming underneath the armless gown she was putting on.

" Where is she going to?" I thought.

"Hi" she said when she was suo close.

" I optef to shun her, just like she did earlier"

" I'm going to get some things, the guard said I need to tell you before going, so DEAR BOSS can I go get some things" she snorted.

She glared angrily when I didn't respond while I chuckled inwardly.

She was almost at the door when my voice stopped her, "wait up for me out there, I will catch up with you" I said

"Why am I waiting for you?, I'm the one who needs something she said" obviously displeased.

Because I'm coming with you, I said and walked out.

"Jeez, must he be so annoying?" She scoffed l, striding out if the study.

" I heard that" I said going into my room to get dressed.

°°°

She directed the driver all through the ride. She didn't want to even disclose the name of the supermarket to him.

" We are here", she said. She grabbed her phone and hurried out.

She already pleaded with me to just sit in the car, that I will even be able to watch her so I agreed.

"I could read her lips, so well that I noticed she gasped when she saw the price tag". A soft chuckle escaped my throat, " childish" I muttered.

I decided to flip through my documents while she just do her thing.

My phone beeped, I looked out when I saw the caller. A frown settled on my face when I noticed Drake and his mistress discussing with Sofia.

I got down, trailed hastily to the mall. A few metres from them, her next words stopped me.

That's because I discovered you two are a perfect match, My left over and a whore. Perfecto!!! She squealed with a tone of mockery.

Celia raised her hand to slap her but my voice stopped her.

" DON'T YOU DARE".

It’s late, and it was raining. Not the heavy dramatic type of rain - the soft drizzle type. The type that made her looked like she was glowing. She’s laughing. Not with me. Not for me. But I hear it anyway. She’s standing outside a gallery in that red dress. One arm around her friend, the other holding a paper cup of wine, like the world hasn’t touched her yet. Like she’s still untouched by the kind of men who ruin beautiful things.Like me.I stay in the car. Watch from across the street with a silence I've perfected over the years. Lights flicker above her, casting shadows that dance across her smile. She doesn’t know I exist. Not yet.But I know her.I know the way she bites the inside of her cheek when she’s nervous. I know she checks her door twice before leaving the house. I know she sleeps on the left side of the bed, always with the window cracked open. And I know she deserves more than the life she’s been handed.I see Derek step out of the corner and whisper something

"I’ll raise you two hundred... and my wife."Silence.My heart dropped.I turned slowly toward Derek, wondering if I’d heard him wrong. Maybe the champagne had gone to my head. Because there was no way he said what I just thought I heard. But no. He was leaning forward with his usual reckless smirk, fingers twitching over a mountain of poker chips, like he hadn't just thrown me into the pot like an old coin.“What the hell did you just say?” My voice came out calm—too calm for the storm crashing through my chest.A few men chuckled, but I could hear the awkwardness in their chuckles.Hello the whole air was now filled with tension as every eyes around the table turned to us.“Relax, babe.” Derek waved a dismissive hand without even glancing at me. “It’s just a figure of speech. You know how poker talk works—people bet houses, cars, islands. Just keeping the mood fun.”Fun.I walked around the edge of the velvet poker table and stood directly behind him, and I curled my hands into a f

I didn't get too far before I heard footsteps behind me. I am not going anywhere with you! You can't…you can't do this me.”My breath hitched, and I felt my eyes burning with unused tears but I blinked it away - “I'm not some damn property.”“Don't take it personal honey,” he responded without blinking, “I'm a business man so my number one belief is - a deal is a deal. Your husband lost you in the bet so you are mine.”His words slammed with me and I staggered back, my knees suddenly growing too weak to hold me up as I really processed the whole thing again.“I'm not a property!” I yelled - or at least tried to, but the words came out in a broken
