LOGINRonnie's POV
I remained frozen for a very long while.
Long enough till I slept off.
By the time my eyes opened again, I could see how the morning light tried to make its way inside the room through the little space between the curtains.
My head snapped up.
He was no longer there.
Of course, what was I thinking? That I'm some royal princess that he'll sit down and wait for me all night and even till I wake up.
One of the young nurses strolled in.
"You're awake?" She said, pausing at the door with her hands still on the knob. "I'll inform..."
"Please don't!" I cut in.
She hesitated for a moment before she finally stepped in.
She began by checking my vitals, then she went ahead to disconnect the IV that had been set overnight.
While she was rolling the IV together to dispose it, I noticed how she kept looking at me from time to time. Like she had something to say, but didn't know how to start.
She took out a new one and began fixing it. Yet, with the side of my eyes I still noticed her staring.
My eyes finally caught hers in a way that she couldn't hide.
"Any problem?" I asked.
She smiled and tried to brush it off at first. "It's nothing!"
But her silence seemed to be eating her more than it was eating me, so she finally burst out saying. "Why is the Lycan King so interested in you?"
I rolled my eyes.
Of course why would she be interested in talking to me if it wasn't the king's matter?
"Honestly, I have no idea." I answered sincerely, frustration eating me so deep. "I wish I could just run away and never get to be trapped with him or anything that has to do with him." I said, looking down at my hands folded on my body.
I finally looked up, hoping to see a sympathetic nurse. Instead, she was smiling.
I didn't know when my gaze turned into a bombastic stare.
"I'm so sorry for smiling." She said quickly. "I'm just kind of marvelled that someone would want to run away from a man that handsome."
She sat at the edge of the bed.
"If I were you, I'll never try to run away." She started. "I'll just let him take me willingly." Her eyes began to drift like she was in a fantasy world.
"Do you know what it means to be with the Lycan King? Or to even spend time with him?" She said as if I didn't know what I was missing out on by trying to run away from the King.
"Girl you're lucky." She reached out to touch my knees gently. "For real." She added, like it was something she could not over emphasize.
"Then why not be with him in my place." I blurted out.
She stood up from the side of the bed immediately, her smile suddenly gone.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you would get offended by my words."
I rolled my eyes at her once again before my eyes then landed on the door like I was waiting for him to step in.
The nurse had barely finished taping the needle to my skin when the door burst open.
My heart jumped.
For a second, my breath caught in my throat. I braced myself, already expecting the overwhelming presence of the Lycan King.
But it wasn’t him.
“Ronnie!”
My mother’s voice cracked through the room. She rushed toward the bed like someone who had been holding her breath for hours. Her face looked worn, eyes red and swollen, like sleep hadn’t touched her in a long time.
Right behind her was Jessie.
Even she looked rough. Jessie was usually the loud one, the bright one. But right now she looked shaken… scared even.
“Mom? Jessie?” I whispered.
My mother grabbed my hand instantly. She squeezed it so tight it almost hurt.
“Oh, thank the Goddess you’re awake,” she cried, pushing my hair back from my face with trembling fingers. “We’ve been sitting in that hallway since last night, Ronnie. We haven’t slept at all.”
I frowned, confusion slowly creeping in.
“Last night?” I asked. “You’ve been here this whole time? Why didn’t you come in?”
Jessie let out a loud sigh.
“Because your King wouldn’t let us,” she said, folding her arms across her chest. “There were guards standing outside this door like we were criminals. We weren’t allowed inside until two minutes ago.”
My stomach twisted.
“That son of a...”
“Five minutes.”
The voice cut through the room like ice.
Everything went quiet.
I didn’t even need to turn my head to know who it was.
The Lycan King stood at the doorway.
His tall frame filled the entrance, blocking the light from the hallway.
His eyes didn’t even move toward my mother or Jessie.
Instead, he glanced down at his wrist.
“You have exactly five minutes to speak with her,” he said calmly. “After that, you leave.”
My anger flared instantly.
“What do you mean five minutes?” I snapped.
My pulse pounded against the IV in my arm.
“I won’t even get to see my own mother again until Goddess knows when and you think you can just...”
He raised his hand.
Then he turned his phone toward me.
A timer glowed on the screen.
Bright red numbers counting down.
4:42
4:41
“Your Majesty…” the nurse spoke up quietly. She pointed to the clear drip bag hanging above me. “What about the IV? It just started. She still needs the fluids and the...”
“Take it off.”
The command came fast.
His eyes finally lifted and landed on me.
“But...” The nurse tried to speak again.
“I said take it off.”
His voice dropped lower this time.
Something about it made the room feel heavier.
“I have better things to do than wait for a bottle to empty,” he continued.
His phone buzzed.
With eyes fixed on me, he took the call.
“Ask the sorcerer to get the rituals ready, we'll be there soon.” He said to the person on the line, his eyes never living mine.
Rituals?
What does he want to do to me?
Ronnie's POV I rolled back and forth on top the comforting mattress, my subconscious mind drifting to the weird nightmare I had about the Lycan King. But something seemed off.The mattress underneath me felt too comfortable to be mine. Even while I rolled, it almost felt like the bed was unending. That was the moment my eyes fell open. My eyes went over the room for a second, trying to process what was going on. Beside me was a young lady in a white and black attire. What we would normally describe as a maid's uniform. Her hair was neatly packed into a sleek little ponytail. She looked like she was arranging something in the drawer by the bedside, or whatever the heck she was doing. "What is this place? Why am I here?" I asked. The maid shook a little, like she had been startled by my voice. "You're awake?" She said finally, holding onto her chest. "How did I get here?" "Who even brought me here?" "Ma'am..." The maid muttered. I threw my legs off from the soft sheets, my
Nolan’s POVRight from the moment that the car was being loaded with her belongings, I knew I was doomed for trouble. I had asked her mother and friend to get her things prepared for the trip. That was last night while they waited to see her. "There's no need to worry about any big celebrations, I'll just be introducing her to the family. For now." I said to my Beta finally before turning to join them in the car. The engine revived and the driver zoomed off. I was barely present in the car cause I couldn't stop thinking about everything I had paused just to be here. Every time I looked up from my phone, I couldn't help but notice how endlessly the road in front of us seemed. The journey just somehow seemed somehow unending. It's probably because I was already restless. Inside the car, it was quiet.A little too quiet.Ronnie sat beside me, her weight pressed against the window close to her. Her phone clutched tightly in her hands, her fingers moving really fast across the scree

Ronnie's POV I blinked, my breath hitching in my throat. I knew that voice. Every instinct in my body recognized the predator standing over me.The Lycan King.He crouched down, his face finally coming into the light. He was devastatingly handsome in a way that felt dangerous. Those beautiful eyes pierced into mine, his gold necklace dangling just a little above me. "I sent the guards to give you a few minutes to round off," he muttered, reaching out a gloved hand to push a stray lock of hair from my forehead. His touch was surprisingly gentle, which only made it more terrifying. "I didn't realize you were in such a hurry to meet me that you'd throw yourself under my wheels."I tried to find my voice, to tell him to go to hell, but all that came out was a weak, pained wheeze."Well," he said, standing back up. "Since you're already here... let's waste no more time." By now, I could already hear the guards voice around the area. He reached down once again, scooping me up into his
Ronnie's POV The words kept echoing in my head."I would rather die than see you with another man."The nerve of him made my vision blur with anger. This was the same man who disregarded our bond to be in my step-sister’s bed. The same man who had looked me straight in the eyes weeks ago and told me I wasn’t enough. And now he stood there talking about ownership, all because someone stronger had shown interest in me.The hypocrisy almost made me laugh.“Now you better move cause you're coming with me.” Elisha barked. His fingers dug into my arm so hard. Something inside me snapped. Not the quiet kind of snap. This one was loud and violent. Like a dam bursting open after holding too much water.“Get your filthy hands off me this instant!” I growled. The sound shocked even me. It tore out of my throat like something wild.Elisha flinched, though just for a second. But he didn’t let go.“Ronnie, stop being difficult,” he said through gritted teeth. “You don’t understand what you’re dea
Ronnie’s POV“Two hours?” Jessie blurted out. “What the heck are you supposed to do with two hours? I mean, that’s not even enough time to pack your clothes and handbags.”Jessie kept on ranting. Her tone remained sharp as ever. She even looked more frustrated than I was in this weird-ass situation.“So what do you intend to do now?” My mom asked, her expression was that of worry mixed with confusion.Unfortunately, my brain seemed shut at this point, and it was almost like I could no longer reason. Nothing was just coming forth.I just sighed and got up from the chair, heading towards the fridge to grab myself a cold bottle of water.“Hmmm…” A mocking sound came from the corner of the room.My eyes lifted to follow the sound.Of course, it was one of them.Despite the fact that the TV was on, I heard the sound of their mockery, and I knew it had nothing to do with what they were watching. My eyes ran over my stepmother, who sat in the middle of the living room. Keisha sat by her, too
