1: Reject me!

Ronnie’s POV“No way I’m letting you walk out of a million-dollar desk because of that Asshole of a mate,” Jessie screamed, running down the stairs to stop me.“Language, Jessie!” I yelled.“But you worked so hard for this, Ronnie, why do you always have to dump your dreams to make sure that you’re by his side?”I shook my head at the unwise statement my best friend had just made.“I never expected this from you, Jessie,” I said, a disappointed look on my face. “Do you really think I can walk into that boardroom and defend my project knowing fully well that my mate just had an accident and is in the hospital fighting for his life?”“What kind of mate would I be to ignore him when he needs me the most?”She looked at me and shook her head. “Obviously, nothing I say would make you change your mind.”“Exactly!” I said, continuing down the unending stairs of Alte Tech Corp.“Don’t say I didn’t warn you!” She said, the tone a little too sharp. Sharp enough to want to stir something inside

2: Golden-eyed Stranger

Ronnie's POV For a moment, the silence in the room was so thick I could hear my own heart pounding. I stared at Elisha, searching his face for something, anything. Just anything that looked like the man I thought I loved.I waited for the apology.Waited for him to say, Ronnie, I’m sorry. This isn’t what it looks like.My soul was screaming at him to give me a reason not to fall apart right there.Instead, he straightened his shoulders. His face went cold. Empty.“Reject you?” he repeated, a chuckle escaped his lips. “I would gladly do that.”Before I could even go any further, he started.“I, Elisha, Alpha heir of the Silver Moon, reject you, Ronnie, as my mate and future Luna.”The words hit, sharp and clean.“You were a mistake the Goddess made,” he continued. “A burden. A weight around my neck. Keisha is twice the woman you’ll ever be.”The bond didn’t just break. It ripped.Pain tore through my chest like claws, deep and brutal. I gasped, folding over, my hands clutched my stoma

3: Coronation

Ronnie's POV The invitation sat on my cracked coffee table like a venomous snake.Cream and gold design with a scent of lilies that made my stomach turn.It was the invitation to Elisha’s coronation as Alpha, as well as Elisha and Keisha’s big day.“I’m not going, Jessie. I still have dignity,” I said, eyes glued to my laptop. “Or at least the broken pieces of it packed in a box somewhere.”My fingers hovered over my keyboard, trying to salvage the code for my Alte Tech project. The lines blurred anyway. Anger has a way of messing with logic.“It’s the Alpha’s son’s bonding ceremony with your sister; either way, you have to be there. If not for anything else, to show them that you don’t give a fuck about them anymore.” Jessie snapped, yanking the laptop off my lap.She stood there, trying to cheer me up like I hadn’t just sabotaged my life, even when she warned me ahead.“Honestly, I don’t care what they think. It’s their life, and their thoughts too.”“You’re not going to tell me th

4: Why are you doing this?

Ronnie's POVI didn’t know how long it would be till I finally collapsed. My breath was stuck.Every part of my body had gone still. My eyes locked with his, one of his hands on my chin and the other on my waist to steady me.“All rise!” He said, finally.Everyone looked up, words falling out from them in whispers as they caught the awkward moment. My eyes met with Elisha’s; his face was drained of all its colour.Nothing in that event made sense anymore. Everyone kept staring back at him, even when he had gone up the stage to crown Elisha as the new Alpha.Once the eyes on me had reduced, I slipped out of the venue. My room felt too small. The walls pressed in, tight and suffocating, the air heavy with cheap lavender incense. I’d lit it to drown out the scent of the ballroom, but it only made my head throb. Every breath tasted wrong.I paced the length of the room, back and forth across the creaking floorboards. My heels lay abandoned in a corner, kicked off in frustration, but my mi

5: I would rather die

Ronnie’s POV“Two hours?” Jessie blurted out. “What the heck are you supposed to do with two hours? I mean, that’s not even enough time to pack your clothes and handbags.”Jessie kept on ranting. Her tone remained sharp as ever. She even looked more frustrated than I was in this weird-ass situation.“So what do you intend to do now?” My mom asked, her expression was that of worry mixed with confusion.Unfortunately, my brain seemed shut at this point, and it was almost like I could no longer reason. Nothing was just coming forth.I just sighed and got up from the chair, heading towards the fridge to grab myself a cold bottle of water.“Hmmm…” A mocking sound came from the corner of the room.My eyes lifted to follow the sound.Of course, it was one of them.Despite the fact that the TV was on, I heard the sound of their mockery, and I knew it had nothing to do with what they were watching. My eyes ran over my stepmother, who sat in the middle of the living room. Keisha sat by her, too

6: Stop her!

Ronnie's POV The words kept echoing in my head."I would rather die than see you with another man."The nerve of him made my vision blur with anger. This was the same man who disregarded our bond to be in my step-sister’s bed. The same man who had looked me straight in the eyes weeks ago and told me I wasn’t enough. And now he stood there talking about ownership, all because someone stronger had shown interest in me.The hypocrisy almost made me laugh.“Now you better move cause you're coming with me.” Elisha barked. His fingers dug into my arm so hard. Something inside me snapped. Not the quiet kind of snap. This one was loud and violent. Like a dam bursting open after holding too much water.“Get your filthy hands off me this instant!” I growled. The sound shocked even me. It tore out of my throat like something wild.Elisha flinched, though just for a second. But he didn’t let go.“Ronnie, stop being difficult,” he said through gritted teeth. “You don’t understand what you’re dea

7: Admiration

Ronnie's POV I blinked, my breath hitching in my throat. I knew that voice. Every instinct in my body recognized the predator standing over me.The Lycan King.He crouched down, his face finally coming into the light. He was devastatingly handsome in a way that felt dangerous. Those beautiful eyes pierced into mine, his gold necklace dangling just a little above me. "I sent the guards to give you a few minutes to round off," he muttered, reaching out a gloved hand to push a stray lock of hair from my forehead. His touch was surprisingly gentle, which only made it more terrifying. "I didn't realize you were in such a hurry to meet me that you'd throw yourself under my wheels."I tried to find my voice, to tell him to go to hell, but all that came out was a weak, pained wheeze."Well," he said, standing back up. "Since you're already here... let's waste no more time." By now, I could already hear the guards voice around the area. He reached down once again, scooping me up into his

8: Son of a...

Ronnie's POVI remained frozen for a very long while.Long enough till I slept off.By the time my eyes opened again, I could see how the morning light tried to make its way inside the room through the little space between the curtains. My head snapped up.He was no longer there.Of course, what was I thinking? That I'm some royal princess that he'll sit down and wait for me all night and even till I wake up.One of the young nurses strolled in."You're awake?" She said, pausing at the door with her hands still on the knob. "I'll inform...""Please don't!" I cut in.She hesitated for a moment before she finally stepped in.She began by checking my vitals, then she went ahead to disconnect the IV that had been set overnight. While she was rolling the IV together to dispose it, I noticed how she kept looking at me from time to time. Like she had something to say, but didn't know how to start. She took out a new one and began fixing it. Yet, with the side of my eyes I still noticed her s

9: A flash

Nolan’s POVRight from the moment that the car was being loaded with her belongings, I knew I was doomed for trouble. I had asked her mother and friend to get her things prepared for the trip. That was last night while they waited to see her. "There's no need to worry about any big celebrations, I'll just be introducing her to the family. For now." I said to my Beta finally before turning to join them in the car. The engine revived and the driver zoomed off. I was barely present in the car cause I couldn't stop thinking about everything I had paused just to be here. Every time I looked up from my phone, I couldn't help but notice how endlessly the road in front of us seemed. The journey just somehow seemed somehow unending. It's probably because I was already restless. Inside the car, it was quiet.A little too quiet.Ronnie sat beside me, her weight pressed against the window close to her. Her phone clutched tightly in her hands, her fingers moving really fast across the scree

10: Rows of Lingerie

Ronnie's POV I rolled back and forth on top the comforting mattress, my subconscious mind drifting to the weird nightmare I had about the Lycan King. But something seemed off.The mattress underneath me felt too comfortable to be mine. Even while I rolled, it almost felt like the bed was unending. That was the moment my eyes fell open. My eyes went over the room for a second, trying to process what was going on. Beside me was a young lady in a white and black attire. What we would normally describe as a maid's uniform. Her hair was neatly packed into a sleek little ponytail. She looked like she was arranging something in the drawer by the bedside, or whatever the heck she was doing. "What is this place? Why am I here?" I asked. The maid shook a little, like she had been startled by my voice. "You're awake?" She said finally, holding onto her chest. "How did I get here?" "Who even brought me here?" "Ma'am..." The maid muttered. I threw my legs off from the soft sheets, my
