~Chapter Ninety-Four~

Elara’s POV

As I walked down the hallway leading to my room, I bumped into Kai. “Going somewhere?”

My hands shook at his question.

Did he overhear us? Or had Elizabeth betrayed me again?

“Uhm… to my room.” My hands tightened around my dress. “Is there a problem?”

His eyes remained on me. “You’ve been avoiding your Luna duties.”

Thank goodness. It wasn’t what I thought he knew.

“Vera has been handling the Luna responsibilities. What exactly am I supposed to do?”

  • WANTED; THE ALPHA’S HUMAN MATE   ~96~ ESCAPE

~Chapter Ninety Six~Kia’s POVI sat up from my office table with a splitting heartache. It felt like a piece of my heart had been ripped out of me. There was no need to think further. Something was wrong. My wolf nudged me toward Elara’s room, and I followed the instinct immediately. Utterly disappointed, I found her nowhere. With a glint of trust still left in me, I ordered the guards to check around, but that trust disappeared the moment I saw them asleep. It was clear she had escaped. With whose help? I clenched my fist, pacing around the hallway, unable to think straight as guard after guard returned with nothing. “Ungrateful girl!” No one was ever going to protect her more than I did. No matter how little or how much, she was going to be in danger out there. Without hesitation, I called for her personal maid. She was found asleep in the doorway of the maid quarters. It was clear she had drugged them all. But one thing was certain—Elara wouldn’t have escaped on her o

  • WANTED; THE ALPHA’S HUMAN MATE   ~95~ RED-EYED MAN

~ Chapter Ninety-Five~ Elara’s POV “Please don’t hurt me.” “Hello, Elara. So nice to finally meet you in person.” One of the men standing in the middle spoke, and my stomach dropped. He knew my name. Who was he? “Who are you?” I forced the words out with a shaky voice, moving backward. My heart raced as he stepped toward me with a glint in his eyes. I had thought I would escape peacefully, but I hadn’t even left Kai’s territory, and already, I was in great danger. Now it appeared that escaping was going to be more difficult than I had imagined. “You want to know who I am?” He walked faster toward me. “I think you should know who you are first.” Immediately, pain exploded behind my eyes. I crumpled to the ground, pain splitting through my skull. “We got her.” I heard one of them say it as they all moved closer. Thoughts of the evil they could do to me in this state flashed through my mind, and fear gripped me. “Please… don’t hurt me.” I whined, losing consciousness as m

It wasn’t what I thought he knew. “Vera has been handling the Luna responsibilities. What exactly am I supposed to do?” “Take charge, Elara. That’s a weak excuse.” I stared at him. He really didn’t see it. “How?” I snapped. “How do I take charge when your lover is already parading around as Luna?” His jaw tightened. “You won’t use Vera as an excuse to insult me.” “I… didn’t mean to.” I stuttered. “I’m sorry.” His eyes glowed, and he was barely inches away from me. I hadn’t seen him look this irritated in such a long time. I had pushed him far enough this time. But it didn’t matter. That would be the last

  • WANTED; THE ALPHA’S HUMAN MATE   ~93~ BARGAIN

~Chapter Ninety-Three~Elara’s POV It took a while to convince Lucian that I had made up my mind to leave before he made it clear just how much risk I was about to take. With my pitiful words, I tried one more time. “Lucian, back there in the forest, you said you wanted to help me escape. This is your chance to prove it again.” But he shook his head. “That was then, Elara. Doing that now isn’t safe for you or anyone in this pack.” He looked me straight in the eye. “Don’t you get it?” When he said that, I felt a weight settle over me, heavier than I had ever felt before. I stared at him, waiting for him to change his mind yet he didn’t. If Lucian wasn’t going to help me, who would? I couldn’t think any further. All I knew was that I needed to leave. Putting up with Aunt Elizabeth was manageable, but not with Vera. She would stop at nothing to do more of what she had already done, and without Zara supporting me, staying wouldn’t be easy. “It’s fine if you don’t want to help me

  • WANTED; THE ALPHA’S HUMAN MATE   ~92~ NO PLACE

~Chapter Ninety Two~ Elara’s POV Zara didn’t say a word to defend me. Was she siding with Vera now? A few minutes later, we were inside the office, with Vera beside Kai, still sniffing while Zara and I stood in front of his desk. The arrangement felt odd, especially seeing Vera standing so comfortably beside Kai while pretending to be the victim. I wondered what judgment waited for me this time. All these women were usually the same. Sarai, all of them. They knew how to lie and pretend. “Alpha Kai, please forgive me. I didn’t mean to disrespect your Luna.” Vera bowed slightly, fiddling with her fingers. “If she could slap me, then I can’t possibly bear your wrath against me.” Kai cut her off with a raised hand, his eyes shifting toward me while I immediately avoided his gaze. “Zara.” He turned toward her. “You were there. Tell me what happened in the garden.” Hearing that gave me a little relief. Zara was going to tell him what happened because she had seen Vera slap herse

  • WANTED; THE ALPHA’S HUMAN MATE   ~91~ COWERING

~Chapter Ninety One~Kai’s POV Lucian’s answer made me realize one thing: Kai was so blinded by love that he couldn’t see her intentions to become Luna. What Lucian said was right. No one walks back into a relationship that almost got them killed unless they have a motive or something to gain. Kai was smart enough to see that, but his love for her was probably clouding his judgment. At this point, I didn’t know what my place was here anymore. Even Kai couldn’t decide that with his undying affection for her. “Lucian?” I looked him in the eyes. “I need to ask you something.” “Go on,” he lifted his brow. “If I need to escape, would you help me do that?” “Bravery? Is that what I smell? He chuckled. “Escape to where?” I shrugged. “Anywhere. Just somewhere I don’t have to meddle in anyone’s love story.” “It’s not going to be as easy as you think.” He tilted his head. “The Kai I know would always find you.” “They won’t find me that easily.” I shook my head. “I’m not as helpless
